Exchange Shoppers Generate $548,189 for Eglin Community EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE — Airmen, retirees, Veterans and military families know it pays to shop their Exchange. In 2019, authorized Eglin Air Force Base Exchange shoppers generated $548,189 of critical support for military Quality-of-Life programs in the form of earnings-based dividends. The dividends help fund Quality-of-Life programs at Eglin AFB, such as Armed Forces Recreation Centers and other programs that support the military. 100% of the Army & Air Force Exchange Service's worldwide earnings are invested in the military community, with 59% going to dividends supporting Quality-of-Life programs and the remaining 41% used to improve the experience in stores and at ShopMyExchange.com. “The Exchange is Family Serving Family,” said Eglin AFB General Manager Myra Florence. “Exchange earnings improve the lives of Eglin heroes and their families.” The Eglin AFB Exchange dividend is a part of the $217 million the Army & Air Force Exchange Service generated worldwide in 2019. In the last 10 years, the Exchange has contributed $2.2 billion to morale, welfare, and recreation programs integral to Air Force recruiting, readiness and resiliency. Part of the Exchange’s dividend was generated by Veterans. On Jan. 1, 2020, 4.1 million Veterans with service-connected disabilities and certain caregivers were welcomed home with in-store shopping privileges. Since 2017, all honorably discharged Veterans have been authorized to

20

shop the Exchange online. Veterans can find out more about their earned benefits on the Exchange’s community Hub page at https://bit.ly/Vets4Life Despite the upheaval caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the ever-changing retail landscape, the Exchange remains dedicated to supporting troops and their families, wherever the military mission takes them. Become A

Family Child Care Provider

Persons interested in a career as an Eglin Family Child Care (FCC) provider can obtain licensing through the Eglin FCC office and earn a potential monthly income of $4,500! Any on-base individual providing care for another family’s child for more than 10 hours a week on a regular basis must be licensed. Providers are needed to offer care for a wide variety of needs, including hourly, part time, full time, evenings, weekends, special needs, and overnight care.

Switching schools can be stressful, but Elaine LaJeunesse, Eglin’s School Liaison, says the key is to get organized before moving — and she has put together a checklist for parents to help make the transition as seamless as possible!

Parents should also be aware of the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3). The MIC3 was created to support successful education transitions for mobile military students. All fifty states (and D.C.) are members of the compact, which applies to public schools and DoDEA schools, grades K-12.

The Eglin FCC office is also seeking individuals living off-base in the surrounding communities to become licensed affiliated child care providers. Affiliated providers must be spouses of a military ID card holder (active or retired) and must meet the State of Florida registered requirements prior to receiving an affiliated certificate from the Eglin MSG commander. Applications are available at the FCC office or online at www. eglinlife.com/fcc. For information on the next new provider orientation, contact FCC staff at:
