Kayak Fishing 101
Thursday, July 7 | 5 pm Thursday, August 11 & 25 | 5 pm Eglin's Outdoor Recreation Center now offers an introductory course on Kayak Fishing! This 2-to-3-hour class is intended for participants with prior kayaking experience, and will include instruction on proper equipment, baiting, effective techniques, fish identification, and safety concerns. Students will set in at Postl Point Marina (or other locations TBD) to catch redfish, catfish, speckled trout, and more. Shoal River Kayak Trip Saturday, July 9 | 9 am
Enjoy a leisurely paddle down a slow river with Eglin Outdoor Recreation's Shoal River Kayak Trip! Participants will meet at the Shoal River put-in in Crestview and check out numerous sandbars along the wide and shallow river through a mostly undeveloped forest area; the meeting location will be provided upon registration. This trip is around 10 miles and is intended for experienced paddlers ages 12 and up. Cost is $20 per person for RecOn* participants, or $80 per person for all others with base access. Full Moon Kayak
Tuesday, July 12 | 7 pm Wednesday, August 10 | 7 pm Come paddle with Eglin Outdoor Recreation out fromPostl Point to see the full moon rise over the bay. This 2-hour guided excursion will take participants on a kayaking trip to a small secluded beach for an amazing view of the night sky, s'mores and a moonlit paddle back to Postl Point. Participation is open to all base personnel and registered guests, ages 16 and older, who have some prior kayaking experience. Cost for the July trip is $25 per person. Weigh-In: 8 am Competition Start: 9 am Where do you stack among Eglin's strongest? Put your muscles to the test at the annual Eglin's Strongest Competition, taking place at the Main Eglin Fitness Center. Competition is open to all with base access ages 18 and older. Participants of all skill levels are welcome to register in weight divisions for both men and women. The competition consists of squat, bench, and deadlift challenges. Minimal equipment is allowed with restrictions (belts, gloves, wrist and knee wraps, etc.). Prizes will be awarded to the top three competitors in each category. Dog Obedience Classes August 30 - September 27 Tuesdays 5-6 pm

Can't get Rover to roll over? Basic Dog Obedience is just what your pup needs! Classes are specialized for pups over four months of age, or adult dogs who have had no previous training. Your canine companion will learn basic obedience commands and good doggy manners, and individual behavioral problems such as excessive barking and jumping will be
addressed. Course sessions last five weeks, with classes held for a maximumof 10 dogs. The first class meeting will be for owners only (no dogs should attend, please!). Cost for each five-week course is $80 and includes everything needed to participate. Dogs must be current on all vaccinations, including kennel cough; owners are asked to bring their dog's shot record to the first class. Welcome back, sports fans! —Registration for Youth Soccer and Flag Football is open July 5 through August 19, with sign-ups available online via the Eglin Youth Center's webpage at eglinlife.com/youth. Cost is $60 per child or $120 per family during early registration, July 5-29. Following those dates through Friday, August 19, normal registration fees are $70 per child or $140 per family. Fees will be collected through the Child &Youth ProgramBusiness Management System(CYPBMS); those not already enrolled in the CYPBMSwill receive an emailed invitation following their completion of the online sports registration form. Calling all parents! —Catch a break once a month with the Eglin Child &Youth Services programfor parents, Parents' Night Out! The Eglin Child Development Center (CDCIII, Bldg 2781) offers childcare for $28 per child on a space-available basis for ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Reservations must be made by close of business on the Thursday before the event. All children must be registered and have a current shot record on file. The CDCwill provide a snack; no outside food or drink will be allowed with the exception of bottles for infants. Financial assistance is available to eligible Air Force &Army families. Dance Classes at the Youth Center Weekdays | Ages 3-13
The Eglin Youth Center is hosting dance classes on weekdays! Ballet, tap and jazz classes are available for ages 3 to 13 with beginner and intermediate options on a weekly basis.
