Eglin's 38th Annual ORGANIZATIONAL Greeting CompetitionCard

Create a giant holiday card wishing season's greetings from your organization to the Eglin community! Cards will be displayed along the west section of Eglin Blvd, from the intersection at Nomad Way to the All Wars Memorial. A panel of judges will evaluate the displays based on theme, originality, and workmanship, and then select 1st through 3rd place and honorable-mention winners to be awarded cash prizes totaling over $2,000.

Cards must be registered by Friday, Nov. 18, by contacting Leslie.Thompson.2@us.af.mil Cards may then be constructed/installed in their designated spots beginning Saturday, Nov. 26, and must be completed by Friday, Dec. 2.

Judges will conduct their evaluation of all cards on Monday, Dec. 5. Winners will be announced and presented cash awards on Thursday, Dec. 8, during WinterFest at the Bayview Event Center. Full contest details and official rules are available online at www.eglinlife.com

Dog Obedience Classes

November 7 - December 12

Mondays | 4-5 pm (No Class Nov. 21)

Can't get Rover to roll over? Basic Dog Obedience is just what your pup needs! Classes are specialized for pups over four months of age, or adult dogs who have had no previous training. Your canine companion will learn basic obedience commands and good doggy manners, and individual behavioral problems such as excessive barking and jumping will be addressed. Course sessions last five weeks, with classes held for a maximumof 10 dogs. The first class meeting will be for owners only (no dogs should attend, please!). Cost for each five-week course is $80 and includes everything needed to participate. Dogs must be current on all vaccinations, including kennel cough; owners are asked to bring their dog's shot record to the first class. Turkey Trot 5K

In celebration of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, the Eglin Fitness Center is hosting a Turkey Trot 5K. Runners should arrive at the CEPavilion on Cypress Road by 7 a.m. when registration opens. The race will start at 7:30 a.m. following Reveille. Participation is open to all with base access, and the top three male and female finalists will each win a turkey!

Parents, catch a break with the Eglin Child Development Center's (CDC) "Parents' Night Out" program! Once a month, CDCIII (Bldg 2781) offers childcare for $28 per child on a spaceavailable basis for ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Reservations must be made by close of business on the Thursday prior. All children must be registered and have a current shot record on file. No outside food or drink will be allowed with the exception of bottles for infants.
