6-Week Weight Loss Challenge

Registration through January 4

Challenge yourself and let the Eglin Fitness Center provide support and incentive to fuel your transformation with the "Eglin's Biggest Loser!" 6-Week Weight Loss Challenge. Registration takes place at the main Fitness Center, with the challenge officially starting on Jan. 7. Visit the front desk to get started. Winners will be announced at the end of the challenge. All participants will be awarded an event t-shirt upon completion. Participation is FREE and open to all base personnel ages 18 and up.

Eglin ITT will hold an email lottery for day trips to New Orleans for the Pelicans vs. Phoenix Suns game on March 16 at 6 pm and the Pelicans vs.

LA Lakers game on March 31 at 5 pm.

The first 20 people to claim spots (limit 2 per person) at eglinitt@us.af.mil at 11 am on Jan. 15 will have 24 hours to pay $50 per person to secure their reservation.

Total cost for the trip is $120 per person and includes transportation, ticket and a great fan experience!

Fishing Clinic

Saturday • January 5 | 10 am

Eglin Outdoor Recreation presents Fishing Clinics at Postl Point, where a professional instructor will teach basic shoreline fishing techniques. Instruction includes baiting, casting, reeling, and fish identification. Basic shore fishing of the bay will be taught, all in a real fishing environment. Cost for the 2-hour class is $25 and includes use of all necessary equipment and bait. Participation is open to all base personnel and their guests, ages 16 and up. All participants will need to obtain a free shoreline fishing license. Class dates are subject to rescheduling due to weather.

• Friday Cookout at The Bayview Friday • January 11 | 3:30 - 6 pm

All Eglin personnel and families are invited to a Friday Cookout at The Bayview, featuring a FREE buffet for Bayview members and their immediate family. (Admission is $5 for all others, ages 3 and up.) Fill up on a delicious "all-you-can-eat" menu of Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chips and all the fixin's. Enjoy indoor games and activities, including a craft table for the kids. Members are also reminded to pick up their January Bayview Bucks. • Hot Chocolate Hiking Trip Saturday • January 12 | 8:30 am

What could be better than venturing into the great outdoors to enjoy the pristine beauty of nature in winter? ... How about venturing into the great outdoors to enjoy the pristine beauty of nature in winter, plus hot chocolate?! Participants meet at Eglin's Outdoor Recreation Center at Postl Point for an 8:30 a.m. departure. Cost is $10 per person and includes round trip transportation. Participation is open to all base personnel and their guests, ages 8 and up. Sign up at Outdoor Rec and please make staff aware of any allergies or other pertinent medical conditions when signing up.

• 1-Mile Resolution Run

It's a new year — hit the ground running! Come out and join the Eglin Fitness Center for the annual Resolution Run. This year's event features a 1-mile fun run from the start/finish line at Postl Point, where the annual Polar Bear Plunge will take place immediately following the run. Participation is FREE for all base personnel, and all ages are welcome. Runners are asked to be in place by 6:45 am for a 7 am start time. Be one of the first 30 participants to register in person at the Eglin Fitness Center by Friday, January 11, and receive a FREE event t-shirt!

• Parents' Day Out

Saturday • January 26 | 11 am - 4 pm

Eglin's Child Development Center offers a special time for parents to enjoy a "Parents' Day Out" one Saturday every month. This popular child care program provides a break for parents while children are safely supervised in a fun and exciting environment.

Families with children ages 6 weeks to 12 years may sign up on a space-available basis for $25 per child. Activities for children will include games, movies and craft projects.

Hot Wheels® cars, tracks, and more will be featured in hands-on activities that are not only fun and engaging, but also teach students to enter and interpret data using the concepts of physics.
