Military Saves is an annual DoD-wide financial readiness campaign that encourages the military community to meet immediate needs and build long-term wealth through saving and debt reduction. Eglin ITT invites basketball fans to experience live NBA action with a day trip to Smoothie King Center in New Orleans to see the Pelicans play the Phoenix Suns. • Auto in Need of Repair?
The Eglin Auto Hobby Shop offers full-service minor vehicle repairs and up-keep, including oil changes, brakes, mount and balance for most tires, turn rotors, serpentine belts, external water pumps, starters, alternators, struts, shocks, coolant drain and refill, and more. A 15-Point Vehicle Inspection Program is available for $18. The shop also supports "do-it-yourself" mechanics, with all the bays, lifts, tools and equipment needed to get any self-help project done right. The Auto Hobby Shop is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and on Saturday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The shop is located at the first traffic light inside Eglin's East Gate, past the track and sports complex and behind the Thrift Store. Get out on the water with Eglin Outdoor Recreation for an introductory Paddle Board Clinic at Postl Point! World Paddling Association instructors will cover equipment, various paddling strokes, and safety procedures during one hour of instruction and one hour of free paddle time. Explore the Florida National Scenic Trail with Eglin Outdoor Rec! Wander through spring-fed creeks and enjoy the plant and animal life along a beautiful 7-mile stretch of trail. Cost is $20 per person and includes round trip transportation to the trail (about 45 minutes away) and a hiking permit. Hikers are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and breathable clothing and to bring bottled water, a sandwich and snacks, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Outdoor Rec also recommends wearing hats and long sleeves. Sign up at Outdoor Rec, and please make staff aware of any allergies or other pertinent medical conditions when signing up. Learn basic shore fishing in a real fishing environment through Eglin Outdoor Recreation's Fishing Clinics at Postl Point! A professional instructor will teach the basics, including baiting, casting, reeling, and fish identification. The 2-hour class costs $25 and includes the use of all necessary equipment and bait.
