March Madness Three-Point Shootout

Friday, March 19 | 10 am - 6 pm Test your skills at the three-point line with the Eglin Fitness Center’s March Madness Three-Point Shootout! Participants must reserve a time slot to compete, and prizes will be given to those with the top two scores. The gym is limited to ten occupants at a time, so please call the Fitness Center to guarantee your time slot. Contact SrA Rhodes or A1C Cann with any questions. (850) 882-6223

Lucky Leprechaun Golf Tournament

Saturday, March 20 | 9 am Shotgun Start

Wear your luckiest green for the Eglin Golf Course's Lucky Leprechaun Golf Tournament! Players will pick their own foursomes to play on the Eagle course. The format is two-person blind draw of the team total score and a 19th hole pot-of-gold substitute score. Players will receive 80% handicap, and a current USGA Handicap is required for this event. Cost is $30 for Gold AGF Members, $40 for Silver AGF Members or $50 for Non-AGF; the cost includes cart fees, green fees, range balls, lunch and tournament prizes. Sign up at the Pro Shop by noon on Thursday, March 18. (850) 882-2949


UPCOMING EVENTS Dog Obedience Classes March 10 - April 7 | Wednesdays, 5 - 6 pm

Can't get Rover to roll over? Basic Dog Obedience is just what your pup needs! Classes are specialized for pups over four months of age, or adult dogs who have had no previous training. Your canine companion will learn basic obedience commands and good doggy manners, and individual behavioral problems such as excessive barking and jumping will be addressed. Course sessions last five weeks, with classes held for a maximum of 10 dogs. The first class meeting will be for owners only (no dogs should attend, please!). Cost for each five-week course is $75 and includes everything needed to participate. Dogs must be current on all vaccinations, including kennel cough; owners are asked to bring their dog's shot record to the first class. Hot Chocolate Hiking Trip Saturday, March 13 | 8:30 am

What could be better than venturing into the great outdoors to enjoy the pristine beauty of nature in winter? How about venturing into the great outdoors to enjoy the pristine beauty of nature in winter, plus hot chocolate?! Eglin Outdoor Recreation invites you out for a Hot Chocolate Hike along a portion of the Florida National Scenic Trail. Participants meet at the Outdoor Recreation Center at Postl Point for an 8:30 a.m. departure. Cost is $15 per person and includes round-trip transportation to the trail (about 45 minutes away), a hiking permit, and did we mention hot chocolate? Hikers are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and breathable clothing, and to bring bottled water, a sandwich, snacks, sunscreen and insect repellent. Hats and long sleeves are also recommended. Participation is open to all base personnel and their guests, ages 8 and up. Sign up at Outdoor Rec and please make staff aware of any allergies or other pertinent medical conditions when signing up. (850) 882-5058

RecOn Axe Throwing Sunday, March 14 | 12 pm

Join Eglin Outdoor Recreation on a trip to the axe-throwing range! Cost is $15 per person for 90 minutes of throwing time. The trip is limited to 10 people; parent/guardian signature is required for participants under age 18. Closed-toed shoes are recommended. Participants must provide their own transportation to The Ratchet Hatchet (304 Perry Ave SE, Ft. Walton Beach, FL). Sign up at Outdoor Rec. Singles Disc Golf Tournament Saturday, March 20 | 7:30 am

All ages and skill levels are invited to compete in Eglin Outdoor Recreation's Singles Disc Golf Tournament, taking place on the disc golf course at Postl Point! Participants will play two rounds and compete within six divisions: Recreation, Advanced, Intermediate, Novice, Women and Junior (ages 14 and under). Because this is a singles tournament, no teams are allowed. Registration is $30 per person and includes a player pack, lunch and beverages. Players must provide their own discs. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring bottled water and insect repellent, wear good athletic shoes and play their best game! (850) 882-5058
