TEMPORARY LODGING FACILITY New TLF Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Wednesday, May 15 | 8:30 am

Join Eglin Lodging for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the brand new TLF units The ceremony will take place at the new TLFs in front of Building 2461 at Hatchee/Foster Rd. Refreshments and a tour will follow the ribbon-cutting. Lodging | 850-882-8761

Gate to Gate Memorial Run/Walk Monday, May 27 | 7 am | Unity Park

Celebrate one of Northwest Florida's greatest traditions at Eglin's 34th Annual Gate to Gate Memorial Run/Walk. This competitive race is open to the general public, and all ages. Runners, walkers, wheelchairs, and teams are invited to register online at https://runsignup.com/Race/FL/EglinAfb/GatetoGateMemorialRun through May 17, $30 per person. All participants must be in place at the start line by 6:30 am. Following the race, everyone is invited to enjoy the after-party at Unity Park, featuring FREE food and refreshments, music and award presentation for top finishers. Also, a FREE Kid's Fun Run will begin at 8:45 am at the race start line, with free t-shirts for all participants and awards for winners. Registration is not required for the Fun Run. Taco Bar at the Bayview Friday, May 17 | 3:30-6 pm

Come out and enjoy Chef Bill's Taco Bar at the Bayview! Bayview members and family receive a FREE buffet. Admission is $5 for all others, ages 3 and up. The bar will be open for beverage purchases. Learn how to take advantage of FREE access to books, films, magazines, and more from the comfort of your own home. The Eglin Digital Library can help you access E-Resources from anywhere. • VA Benefits 101

Select Wednesdays, 1-2 pm: May 15 | June 12 | July 31 | Aug 28

The Eglin A&FRC hosts monthly briefs to cover VA benefits and services. Classes will include education, home loan guaranty, health care, insurance, and memorial benefits — it's a great way to learn more about your options and get your questions answered. The briefings are held once a month at the A&FRC from 1-2 pm and are open to Active Duty Military, retirees, and dependents. Call Eglin A&FRC to sign up. A&FRC (Bldg 205) | 850-882-9060

• Match Play Golf Tournament

REGISTER DEADLINE: Friday, May 17 | TOURNAMENT: Monday, May 20 Do you have what it takes to win match play? Show off your skills at the Eglin Golf Course's Match Play Championship! There are three divisions, Ladies Green Tee, Men's Gold Tee (Age 64 & under), and Men's Silver Tee (Age 65 & up). A full handicap is required (GHIN only). Pairings will be drawn blindly, and the 18 hole matches will be double elimination. There is a $25 entry fee, not including Green & Cart fees. Registration required. Eglin Golf Course | 850-882-2949

• Mystery Volleyball

Full Moon Paddle Thursday, May 16 | 7 pm

Come paddle with Eglin Outdoor Recreation out from Postl Point to see the full moon rise over the bay. This 2-hour guided excursion will take participants on a kayaking trip to a small secluded beach for an amazing view of the night sky, a small fire with s'mores, and a moonlit paddle back to Postl Point. Participation is open to all base personnel and registered guests, ages 16+ who have some prior kayaking experience. Cost is $20 per person and includes all necessary equipment and ingredients for s'mores. Single and double kayaks are available. Participants are encouraged to bring bottled water, a flashlight, & to wear non-cotton clothing. Date may be adjusted due to weather. Registration is required.

Do you like a good mystery? Do you like volleyball? The Eglin Fitness Center is hosting Mystery Volleyball. What is Mystery Volleyball? Well, if we told you, it wouldn’t be a mystery, now, would it? • Parents' Day Out

Saturday, May 18 | 11 am - 4 pm Eglin's Child Development Center offers a special time for parents to enjoy a "Parents' Day Out" one Saturday every month. This popular child care program provides a break for parents while children are safely supervised in a fun and exciting environment. Families with children ages 6 weeks to 12 years may sign up on a space-available basis for $25 per child. Activities for children will include games, movies and craft projects. Dates and times scheduled through the end of 2019 can be found at EglinLife.com. Payment is non-refundable and due at the time of pre-registration, along with completed paperwork and a current shot record. Space is limited, and reservations should be made by close of business on the Thursday prior. Families eligible for FREE participation are those with referrals for the "Give Parents a Break" program (call the Airman & Family Readiness Center at 850-882-9060 for details) and U.S. Army personnel through the Army Covenant. • Expectant Dad's 101 Class

Select Mondays, 8 am - 3 pm: May 20 | July 15 | Sep 16 | Nov 18 Attention, all fathers-to-be! Eglin's Airman & Family Readiness Center invites you to attend their "Expectant Dad's 101" class. This new parent support program is where new and soon-to-be dads can learn how to be an integral part of the pregnancy, childbirth, coping with crying, how to bathe a baby, and other baby care processes. All disc golf enthusiasts are invited out to Postl Point for a round of Glow In The Dark Disc Golf. When the sun goes down, the fun begins! Outdoor Rec will provide players with special lights, and can provide discs as well if needed. At least 9 out of 18 baskets on the course will be illuminated with LED lighting. Cost is $10 per person. Prior disc golf experience is recommended, but all skill levels may join. Participants are encouraged to bring bottled water, insect repellent, a headlamp or flashlight, and to wear comfortable athletic or hiking shoes.

Fishing Clinic

Sunday, May 26 | 10 am Learn basic shore fishing in a real fishing environment through Eglin Outdoor Recreation's Fishing Clinics at Postl Point! A professional instructor will teach the basics, including baiting, casting, reeling, and fish identification. The 2-hour class costs $25 and includes the use of all necessary equipment & bait. Participation is open to all base personnel and authorized guests, ages 16 and up. All participants will need to obtain a free shoreline fishing license. Sign up now at Outdoor Rec. Class dates are subject to rescheduling due to weather.
