Dash and Splash

Friday, August 13 | Check-in Starts at 7 am The Eglin Fitness Center invites you to Dash and Splash your way to first place! This Dash and Splash event includes a 2-mile race and 200-meter swim at the Eglin Pool, and those who complete the race are eligible to win prizes. Check-in is at the Main Fitness Center parking lot starting at 7 a.m., and the race will start froim there at 7:30 a.m.

Eglin Open Championship

August 20-22 | Register by Noon on Wednesday, August 18

The Eglin Golf Course invites all eligible golfers to the Eglin Open, a weekend full of great competitive golf! Participation is open to all authorized DoD personnel and their sponsored guests. A Welcome Party will be held Friday evening, and Championship Play will take place Saturday on the Falcon Course and Sunday on the Eagle Course. Format is stroke play — two days, 36 holes, gross and net. Gross flight winners will receive a trophy and Pro Shop credit, and all other places (gross and net) will receive Pro Shop credit. The number of places will be determined by the number of players in each flight. Entry fees are $55 for Gold AGF, 475 for Silver AGF, $95 for DoD non-members and $105 for non-DoD sponsored guests. Bingo at the Bayview Kick-Off Party Wednesday, September 1 | 5 pm

Eglin's Bayview knows how to spell the secret to great riches: "B-I-N-G-O!" Join the festivities and celebrate the return of Bingo at the Bayview with a kick-off party on Wednesday, September 1. Bingo cards and rental machines will be available for purchase at 5 p.m. on a first-come first-serve basis, and the first ball called for the first game at 6:45 p.m. Play is open to all with base access ages 18 and older, and players will enjoy a FREE hoedown-style meal of BBQ pork sandwiches, potato salad and baked beans. Attendees may purchase drinks at the bar. 850-882-4766

NEW! FII Basic Freediving Safety Course Saturday, August 14 | Contact ODR to Register!

Whether you're a spearfisher without any formal free-diving education or a spouse, parent, or newbie interested in getting into breath-hold activities, this $125 essential safety course offers information that is paramount knowledge for everyone involved in spearfishing and free-diving activities. This course is popular with spearfishing clubs around the United States and is used as a minimum certification for club membership. The Basic Freediving Safety Course has a lowered minimum age requirement of 12, making it accessible to the younger generations developing a keen interest in spearfishing or freediving. This course should be viewed as a minimum requirement for everyone participating in any form of freediving. 850-882-5058

Virtual College Fair Tuesday, August 17 | 11 am - 1 pm

The Eglin Education Center is hosting a virtual college fair! Multiple regionally and nationally accredited colleges will be present to advise airmen on the degrees and programs offered at each institution. The virtual college fair will take place on Tuesday, August 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees can log into the Zoom meeting at zoomgov.com (meeting ID is 161 538 6568; password is 123720) to speak with advisors from the participating colleges and universities. Dog Obedience Classes September 1 - 29 | Wednesdays 5 - 6 pm

Can't get Rover to roll over? Basic Dog Obedience is just what your pup needs! Classes are specialized for pups over four months of age, or adult dogs who have had no previous training. Your canine companion will learn basic obedience commands and good doggy manners, and individual behavioral problems such as excessive barking and jumping will be addressed. Course sessions last five weeks, with classes held for a maximum of 10 dogs. The first class meeting will be for owners only (no dogs should attend, please!). Cost for each five-week course is $80 and includes everything needed to participate. Dogs must be current on all vaccinations, including kennel cough; owners are asked to bring their dog's shot record to the first class.
