Library Card Sign-Up Month

September 1-30 | Design a Bookmark for the Library! September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide join together to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step towards academic achievement and lifelong learning! Patrons will be entered to win weekly giveaways by registering for a library card as well as using the library. As part of Library Card Sign-Up Month, kids of all ages are invited to design a bookmark for the library! Starting Monday, August 23, stop by the Library or visit the Library’s website to get your entry form. There are four age groups: kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade and ninth through twelfth grade. Entries will be accepted from Wednesday, Sept. 1 to Thursday, Sept. 30. The winner in each age group will receive a prize! Aero Club Open House

Monday, September 6 | 9 am - 3:30 pm Enjoy a spectacular bird's-eye view of the Emerald Coast on a scenic flight with the Eglin Aero Club! To celebrate Labor Day, the Aero Club is holding an Open House and offering 20-minute plane rides for only $35 per person. Flights in a Cessna 172 aircraft depart every 30 minutes beginning at 9 a.m., carrying up to 3 passengers each. All with base access can attend and learn about the flight training and pilot services offered at the Eglin Aero Club. Available flight times are limited and must be reserved, and cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the event date. Flights depart from the Aero Club (Bldg 898 on the flight line). Fight Frenzy - UFC Fight Nights at Legends Saturday, September 25 | Doors Open at 6 pm Catch all the action in the octagon with UFC Fight Nights at Legends Sports Grill! Fight Frenzy, a program from the Air Force Services Center (AFSVC), features coverage of UFC events every month. Legends will feature a special Late-Night Menu including flatbread pizzas, chicken tenders, boneless wings and more as well as full bar service! Doors open at 6 p.m. each night with preliminary fights starting at 7 p.m. on ESPN and pay-per-view fights starting at 9 p.m. All with base access are welcome to attend. Movie Nights at Postl Point Fridays | 7 pm

Enjoy outdoor movies at Postl Point on Friday nights! Parking will accommodate up to 50 vehicles per show. Admission is FREE and open to all Eglin personnel and family members. Comedy Machine Show Friday, September 10 | 7 pm

Grab your lawn chairs and get ready to enjoy a night of side-splitting laughter with The Comedy Machine Show! Join comedians Adam Hunter (The Tonight Show, Last Comic Standing) and Andy Kern (Comedy Central, VH1) for their live show on the outdoor stage at Postl Point. Admission is FREE and open to all with base access on a first-come first-serve basis. Attendees will park in the grass near Postl Point and set up lawn chairs on the pavement near the Outdoor Recreation building and pavilion. Concessions will be available for purchase. Customer Appreciation Day Friday, September 17 | 10 am - 1:30 pm

Eglin's Breeze Dining Facility and Main Fitness Center will be hosting a Customer Appreciation Day to celebrate the continued support of their patrons! The Breeze will host the joint outdoor event from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sep. 17. Fitness activities include 1-minute pull-up, push-up and squat challenges, cornhole and football toss. Prizes including streaming devices, Bluetooth speakers, wireless earbuds and gift cards will be awarded. Cookout features a BBQ themed menu and the opportunity to win a pair of AirPods with the purchase of your meal! QuickBooks Certification September 20-24 | Register by Friday, September 10

Calling all Active Duty Air Force spouses! Earn a QuickBooks User Certification through a FREE class with the Eglin Airman & Family Readiness Center. Spouses will receive QuickBooks software training, a book, a practice test and a testing voucher for the certification. The class will meet from Monday, Sept. 20 through Friday, Sept. 24 at the A&FRC (Bldg 205, 502 W Van Matre Ave.), and spouses must register by Friday, Sept. 10. Mini Stars Golf Program September 20 - October 11 | Mondays 4 - 4:45 pm September 24 - October 15 | Fridays 1:30 - 2:15 pm

Does your child want to be a golf star? Register them for the Mini Stars Golf Program with the Eglin Golf Course! This program consists of four-class sessions for kids ages 4 to 5 years old. Classes will have two to four kids, and it is recommended that parents/guardians stay for the duration of the classes. The cost is $80 per child and includes equipment and instruction from Denise Kafferly. Contact the Pro Shop to learn more and register. 850-882-2949
