Library Card Sign-Up Month
September 1-30 | Design a Bookmark for the Library! September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide join together to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step towards academic achievement and lifelong learning! Patrons will be entered to win weekly giveaways by registering for a library card as well as using the library. As part of Library Card Sign-Up Month, kids of all ages are invited to design a bookmark for the library! Starting Monday, August 23, stop by the Library or visit the Library’s website to get your entry form. There are four age groups: kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade and ninth through twelfth grade. Entries will be accepted from Wednesday, Sept. 1 to Thursday, Sept. 30. The winner in each age group will receive a prize! Aero Club Open House
Monday, September 6 | 9 am - 3:30 pm Enjoy a spectacular bird's-eye view of the Emerald Coast on a scenic flight with the Eglin Aero Club! To celebrate Labor Day, the Aero Club is holding an Open House and offering 20-minute plane rides for only $35 per person. Flights in a Cessna 172 aircraft depart every 30 minutes beginning at 9 a.m., carrying up to 3 passengers each. All with base access can attend and learn about the flight training and pilot services offered at the Eglin Aero Club. Available flight times are limited and must be reserved, and cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the event date. Flights depart from the Aero Club (Bldg 898 on the flight line). Fight Frenzy - UFC Fight Nights at Legends Saturday, September 25 | Doors Open at 6 pm Catch all the action in the octagon with UFC Fight Nights at Legends Sports Grill! Fight Frenzy, a program from the Air Force Services Center (AFSVC), features coverage of UFC events every month. Legends will feature a special Late-Night Menu including flatbread pizzas, chicken tenders, boneless wings and more as well as full bar service! Doors open at 6 p.m. each night with preliminary fights starting at 7 p.m. on ESPN and pay-per-view fights starting at 9 p.m. All with base access are welcome to attend.
