Parking Lot Sale

Everyone with base access is invited to shop or sell at Eglin's basewide Parking Lot Sale, held on Georgia Avenue. Look for the event at the two large parking lots across the street from the Eglin Conference Center and Exchange Mini Mall. Sellers may park in either lot and use adjacent parking spaces to display their wares. Space for sellers is FREE! Advance reservations are not required. And if you're a shopper, you won't want to miss this event! There's always an enormous selection and assortment of treasures to be found at this popular event—furniture, electronics, children's items, toys, movies, books, clothing, collectibles, sporting goods, home accessories and much more! Several computer stations will be specially reserved at the Eglin Digital Library every Wednesday for practice testing utilizing the EBSCO LearningExpress suite for DoD Test Prep. This eLearning resource provides access to: Military test prep (ASTB-E, ASVAB, Military Flight Aptitude Test, Officer Candidate Tests, etc.) CLEP, DSST, TOEFL iBT, IELTS, SAT prep Resources for military transition to civilian careers Career certification exam prep for a wide range of occupations... and much, much more. • Chef Ernie’s Las Vegas Dinner Show Friday • September 28 | 6 - 9 pm

Chef Ernie’s is excited to feature Reggie Reed of the Temptations performing the hits we all know and love! • EDGE (Educational Disc Golf Experience) Coming to Eglin Saturday • September 29 | 11 am - 2 pm

Eglin Outdoor Recreation is hosting the Educational Disc Golf Experience (EDGE) at Postl Point. The EDGE program is committed to promoting an active lifestyle through growing the sport of disc golf by teaching disc golf fundamentals and allied skills. The event is geared toward all ages, all skill levels, and will include multiple games, prizes, and giveaways. Participation is FREE and open to all authorized base access, with lunch provided. Dance School at the Youth Center

Eglin's Youth Center hosts the Eglin Dance School, with instructor Heather Weitz offering a variety of weekly classes for children ages 3 to teen. All classes for ages 3-5 and 6-12 are one hour long and cost $45 monthly per child, per class. Cost for each additional child or class is $35 monthly. The teen class is a two-hour combo session and costs $100 monthly per teen. Private lessons may be scheduled with the instructor for $50 per two lessons.

• SAPI: Flyboading Experience

Sunday, September 30 | 10 am Eglin Outdoor Recreation invites all eligible airmen to experience Flyboarding with XL Kites! The Flyboard hydroflight device uses water propulsion to lift its rider into the air to perform hyrdroflying. Cost is $25 per person, and each participant is allotted 20 minutes on the flyboard. • Active Parenting of Teens

The Eglin Airman & Family Readiness Center will host a 4-session "Active Parenting of Teens" workshop each Thursday beginning October 4. Parents of teens are invited to attend and receive the guidance and support they need for turning the challenges of raising a teenager into opportunities for growth. Topics to be covered include methods of respectful discipline, skills for clear and honest communication, concrete strategies to prevent risky behavior, how to be an encouraging parent, and much more. Classes will be held as 90-minute sessions beginning at 11:30 a.m. each day.

• Operation Hero

Saturday • October 13 | 9:30 am or 11 am | Hangar 103

Operation Hero, hosted annually by Eglin's Airman & Family Readiness Center, is a mock deployment experience open to all Team Eglin children, youth, and teens. Phase 1 is the deployment processing line at the 96 AMXS Hangar 103. In Phase 2, participants and parents will take part in fun activities including face painting, deployment demonstrations, and military vehicles and weapons displays. In Phase 3, participants will receive a hero's "welcome home" reception with food for all to enjoy, plus K-9 demonstrations, aircraft displays, and more. Pre-registration is mandatory by October 5. • Microsoft Word Training for Air Force Spouses Monday - Friday • October 15 - 19 | 9 am - 2:30 pm

Microsoft Word Training for spouses of Eglin's active duty Air Force, provided FREE through a grant from the Air Force Aid Society. The 5-day session of classes includes Word Core Essentials, Word Fundamentals A & B, Word Advance Essentials & A & B, and Word Expert. Those completing the training will have the opportunity to receive MS Office Specialist Word Certification. Deadline for registration is Monday, Oct 8.

Football Game

From the end zone to the DEAD zone! The Eglin Fitness Center will host a Zombie Powderpuff Football Game on the turf by the Field House near Eglin's East Gate. ID card holders ages 18 and up are invited to join the fun. Costumes are authorized but must not impede the athlete's ability to run. Sign-up is now open at the Fitness Center; deadline to register is Wednesday, Oct. 17.
