Parking Lot Sale

Saturday • October 6 | 8:30 am - 1 pm

Everyone with base access is invited to shop or sell at Eglin's basewide Parking Lot Sale, held on Georgia Avenue. Look for the event at the two large parking lots across the street from the Eglin Conference Center and Exchange Mini Mall. Sellers may park in either lot and use adjacent parking spaces to display their wares. Space for sellers is FREE! Advance reservations are not required. And if you're a shopper, you won't want to miss this event! There's always an enormous selection and assortment of treasures to be found at this popular event—furniture, electronics, children's items, toys, movies, books, clothing, collectibles, sporting goods, home accessories and much more! Eglin Open Championship

Friday, October 5 | Welcome Party: 5 pm Saturday, October 6 | Shotgun Start: 8 am Sunday, October 7 | Tee Time Start: 7:30 am

The Eglin Golf Course invites all eligible golfers to the Eglin Open Championship, with great payouts and prizes including door prizes and contests like Closest to Pin, Putting, and the Hole-In-One prize of a FREE CAR! Participation is open to all authorized DoD personnel and their sponsored guests. A Welcome Party will be held Friday evening, and Championship Play will take place Saturday on the Falcon Course and Sunday on the Eagle Course. Play is 36-hole stroke play, flighted.

Divisions include Championship (up to age 49), Senior (50-59), Advanced Senior (60-69), Super Seniors (70+), and Ladies (all ages).

Registration fees are as follows: $50 for E1-E4 Active Duty $60 for E5 & Above and Gold members $70 for Silver members $80 for Bronze members $90 for DoD/Civ/Retired/Veteran non-members $100 for Guests Overall champions and flight champions will receive a trophy and a $250 credit book.

Registration deadline is Wednesday, October 3.

The first week of October is time to return your absentee voting ballot.

Stop by the Eglin Airman & Family Readiness Center for assistance and learn more about the absentee voting process, how to use the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB), and everything else there is to know about the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP), which offers guidance on the registration and voting process. First Friday: Oktoberfest

All Eglin personnel and families are invited to a First Friday social at The Bayview, featuring a FREE Oktoberfest buffet for Bayview members and their immediate family.

(Admission is $5 for all others, ages 3 and up. TDY AF Club members receive Bayview pricing.) Fill up on a delicious "all-you-can-eat" menu of Knockwurst and Bratwurst and many more German-inspired favorites, plus enjoy prize drawings throughout the evening for Bayview members. • Khabib Vs. McGregor: Fight Night at Legends Saturday • October 6 | Doors Open 6:30 pm

Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is set to defend his title against former two-division champ and no. 2 contender Conor McGregor in the most-anticipated fight in the promotion's history. The world will be watching — and you can be too! Catch all the action of UFC 229 at Eglin's Legends Sport Grill.

Admission is FREE for Eglin Bayview members, and $5 for all others. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. A special Fight Frenzy food menu will be available, featuring a "pay-as-you-go" bar with FREE popcorn and one FREE beverage (non-alcoholic) included. Fights start at 7 p.m., with the main event scheduled for 9:00 p.m.

• Microsoft Word Training for Air Force Spouses Monday - Friday • October 15 - 19 | 9 am - 2:30 pm

Microsoft Word Training for spouses of Eglin's active duty Air Force, provided FREE through a grant from the Air Force Aid Society. The 5-day session of classes includes Word Core Essentials, Word Fundamentals A & B, Word Advance Essentials & A & B, and Word Expert. Those completing the training will have the opportunity to receive MS Office Specialist Word Certification. Deadline for registration is Monday, Oct 8.

Eglin ITT invites you to explore the historic city of Savannah, Georgia. Considered one of the most beautiful cities in America, Savannah is known for its gorgeous Southern-style homes, picturesque parks, and tree-lined streets. ITT's exciting three-day trip includes round-trip transportation, plus two nights lodging in the historic district at Hotel Indigo. • Youth Basketball & Cheerleading

Early Registration: October 1 - November 2 Late Registration: November 5-8 ($10 Late Fee)

Registration for youth Basketball and Cheerleading is now open at the Eglin Youth Center, available Monday-Friday from 12-5:30 p.m. Registration is $50 per child, or $100 per family. (Returning cheerleaders pay only $25 if they already have a uniform.) All participants must be age 5 prior to Nov. 3, 2018, and under age 13 prior to March 2, 2019. Practices are held on Eglin beginning Dec. 3, with games played at the Eglin or Hurlburt Youth Centers on Saturdays from Jan. 12-March 2, 2019. Mandatory Parent Orientation meetings will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, and Thursday, Nov. 29, at 5:30 p.m. in the Eglin Youth Center gym. All youth participating in sports must have a current sports physical, shot record showing current flu shot, birth certificate, and recent Parent Orientation completion on file prior to starting practices. Oct 26 - Trunk or Treat: Fall Fest Saddle up with Eglin Outdoor Recreation for a trip to Arnett's Gulfside Trail Rides, a Oct 30 - Zombie Powderpuff 20-acre horse ranch only half a mile from the Gulf of Mexico along Scenic Highway Nov 16 - Gobble Wobble 5K/10K 30A. This area adjoins Point Washington State Forest and features miles of open trails Nov 16 - Boss & Buddy Wing Night for enjoying guided horse rides through the beautiful forest. Before hitting the trail, friendly trail bosses will provide instruction to familiarize new riders with their horses Nov 19 - STEM Stations at the Library and get everyone comfortable in the saddle. Cost is $25 per person and includes Nov 22 - Thanksgiving Meal (Breeze) transportation from Eglin's Postl Point to the trailhead near Santa Rosa Beach.
