All Team Eglin personnel and families are invited to The Bayview for WinterFest! — an evening of FREE indoor holiday festivities and activities for the kids, outdoor rides, and $4,000 in prize drawings. The holiday fun will also feature a free hors d'oeuvre buffet and visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Winners of Eglin's 2018 Organizational Greeting Card Contest will be announced and cash awards will be presented at 5:30 p.m. We hope to see you there!

34th Annual Holiday
Greeting Card Competition
The festive tradition continues! All base organizations are invited to show their holiday spirit and enter Eglin's 34th Annual Greeting Card Competition. Create a giant holiday card wishing season's greetings from your organization to the Eglin community. Cards will be set up and displayed throughout November and December along both sides of the west section of Eglin Blvd, from the intersection at Nomad Way to the All Wars Memorial. A panel of judges will evaluate the displays based on theme, originality, and workmanship, and select 1st through 3rd place and honorable mention winners to be awarded cash prizes totaling over $1,200. Cards must be officially registered for the contest at Eglin Outdoor Recreation. Winners will be announced and awards presented at the annual WinterFest at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at the Bayview Club. • Glow in the Dark Disc Golf
Baby Signs Workshop

Eglin Outdoor Recreation invites all disc golf enthusiasts out to Postl Point for a round of Glow In The Dark Disc Golf. When the sun goes down, the fun begins! Outdoor Rec will provide players with special lights for their discs, and can provide discs as well, if needed. At least 9 out of 18 baskets on the course will be illuminated with LED lighting. Cost to play is $5 per person. Prior disc golf experience is recommended. Outdoor Rec | 850-882-5058
• Scenic Trail Hike

Join Eglin Outdoor Recreation for a hiking trip along a portion of the Florida National Scenic Trail. Hikers will experience spring-fed creeks and endless plant and animal life along a 7-mile stretch of Florida's natural beauty. Participants meet at Eglin's Outdoor Recreation Center at Postl Point for an 8:30 a.m. departure. Cost is $10 per person and includes round trip transportation to the trail (about 45 minutes away) and a hiking permit. Participation is open to all base personnel and their guests, ages 8 and up. • Jingle Bell 5K Fun Run

The Eglin Fitness Center invites all base personnel to Eglin's first Jingle Bell 5K Fun Run. Show time is 6:30 a.m. at the CE Pavilion on Cypress Road, with the run starting at 7 a.m. Participants are welcome to wear their holiday attire. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers. Participation is FREE for all base personnel. Join us for a Baby Signs Workshop to learn the benefits of introducing and using sign language to communicate with your baby. You'll learn basic signs to use plus strategies and techniques. The workshop is presented by the Panhandle Parent to Parent Educators as a part of the Eglin Library's Toddler Time program. The workshop is open to parents and kids. No registration is required. Polar Bear Plunge

Ready for a genuinely "chilling" experience? Eglin Outdoor Recreation will present its 9th annual Polar Bear Plunge at Postl Point Beach, immediately following the Eglin Fitness Center's 1-Mile Resolution Run that starts at 7 a.m. Participation is FREE for all base personnel, and all ages are welcome. Bring a towel and a warm change of clothes. If participating in the 1-mile run, be one of the first 30 people to sign up at the Fitness Center by Friday, January 11, and you'll get a FREE event t-shirt! Outdoor Rec | 850-882-5058
• Pump Track Tour Coming to Eglin

Bicycle, skateboard, and scooter riders are invited to check out the Air Force Pump Track Tour, coming to the Eglin Outdoor Recreation Center's parking area at Postl Point. Pump tracks are structures designed to provide an active and fun place for youth to ride. Some bicycles, skateboards, and scooters will be available for use, but riders are welcome to bring their own. And don't forget your helmet! The event is FREE and the track will be open to all ages with riding skill. Registration is not required. There will be a drawing to give away a bicycle, a skateboard, and a scooter! Challenge yourself and let the Eglin Fitness Center provide support and incentive to fuel your transformation with the "Eglin's Biggest Loser!" 6-Week Weight Loss Challenge. Everyone's invited to Chef Ernie's at the Eglin Golf Course to enjoy a holiday event featuring the best in holiday dining and live entertainment. A menu featuring 3-course dining will be available from 5-10 p.m. along with a children's menu. Josh Sirten will entertain from 6-9 p.m. with "Rat Pack" holiday tunes made famous by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darren and more.
