AGA 2008 In the March issue of the EGLSF Newsletter, an overall overview was given of the Annual General Assembly of the European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF AGA 2008). While a detailed report and analysis are being prepared, there are a few extra pieces of iformation we would like to share with you at this time: Outreach at the AGA EGLSF paid a total of 3.255 EUR for expenditures for participants coming from outreach countries. This sum includes costs of travel and dining. We will receive 3.000 EUR from the Mamacash foundation. Unfortunately, the information on Mamacash money was known just before the AGA started, so we were not able to put this information forward sooner. Sports At the AGA in Rome, several sport groups discussed rules and regulations for EuroGames. Some of them have already reported their conlusions to the board but to be able to make an overall summary and start working on the topic, we kindly ask all groups to send their summaries and proposals to juha@eglsf.info. Inputs will be collected, processed, and a report will be given to the members so the discussions and the work can continue. Minutes The minutes from the AGA are being prepared, and a finalised draft version will hopefully be available in May.
Board meetings EGLSF Board held a teleconference on March 31, 2008, with all board members participating. The focus of the meetings was on three points: Barcelona
EuroGames, Finances, upcoming board meetings and some other points of business were also discussed. The board will meet in Copenhagen, Denmark May 2-4, where the emphasis will be on advocacy, outreach, and promotion. EGLSF board will also meet with representatives of Gay and Lesbian Sport Association (GLISA) and organisers of Outgames 2009.

ceremony at Europa-Park Superior Hotel Colosseo, Raum La Scala at 11 a.m. on Monday, 7 April, which is open to the press. All press requests must be preceded by accreditation – contact the Council of Europe or Europa-Park press services for more information. Together with the Football against Racism Network (FARE), the Council of Europe Youth and Sport Directorate has prepared workshops and seminars on best practices to be developed and on the fight against violence and discrimination. The aim is to sensitise young people and governments ahead of EURO 2008. Synergy with organisations like UEFA make a greater impact on efforts to fight fan racism, said Patrick Gasser, the UEFA official responsible for football and social responsibility, who will take part in the fan camp. “The most effective way in the stands to reduce or stop discriminative behaviour is when fellow spectators/fans react when some start chanting monkey noises or to throw banana peels, etc,” said Gasser. http://www.alldifferent-allequal.info

their work with LGBTs. “Primarily, it’s an event for our community to get together and discuss how we can network more effectively, and how we can best support each other in the future,” says Lou Englefield, fellow Director of Pride Sports, “but we will also be sharing perspectives on homophobia in sport and how we can influence the national sports agenda.” The event will be held on a Saturday, and a range of accommodation options will be available for participants, including hosting by local LGBT sports people. The summit is a free event and lunch will be provided for all delegates. There will also be a drinks reception in Manchester’s Gay Village for delegates on the Saturday evening. Places are limited to 80 delegates at this inaugural event, so allocation will be on a first come, first served basis.
