Dear Parents, Alumni, Grandparents, Faculty, Staff and Friends, We recognize and celebrate you, our Scheck Hillel Community School donors, for all that you made possible during the 2016-17 school year. This publication shares some of the learning experiences brought to life by contributors: generous families and friends investing in our students’ educational journeys. The 2016-17 school year has been filled with happiness and giving, and we can’t thank our volunteers and donors enough for making the school year a huge success! With your help, we secured tuition assistance for nearly 200 students. The Honor Roll of Contributors includes all 2016-17 donors who made a gift or pledge to our school from July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2017. To the best of our ability, we uphold our commitment to privacy. As requested, donors who opted to give privately are listed as “anonymous” in this Honor Roll.

Aaron Margolis - Jordan Alexander Ressler Arts Chair, Judith Lindenfeld, Gary Ressler, Simy Bentata (Class of 2017).
On opening night of Beauty and the Beast Jr., Scheck Hillel Community School honored Jordan Alexander Ressler, z”l, and the passion he had for the arts. Through the Jordan Alexander Ressler Arts Program, Scheck Hillel students are inspired to discover their talents. Every day on campus, we are reminded of the vibrancy of Jordan’s legacy, when more than 1,000 students participate in learning: rehearsing for musical theatre, performing in band, orchestra or drumline, discovering the masters as young as early childhood, building AP portfolios or enhancing a campus display with their own art. This year, 2017, marks the 10-year anniversary of a generous gift that took the school’s arts program to the next level, transforming it to become a cornerstone of the Scheck Hillel student experience. Jordan’s family created the Jordan Alexander Ressler Arts Program School to seed a legacy of children inspired to discover their own talents, ignite their own passions and chase their dreams. Scheck Hillel is grateful for all that Jordan’s family has done to enrich the arts and create student opportunity, so we may honor his legacy as a community.

Turning vision into reality! We are blessed with so many generous gifts but we´re not quite done… Today, our Athletic Complex is a space that rocks the house with Lion Pride ruach, exhibits, academic projects, science discoveries and art galleries. It empowers students’ voices for advocacy, resounds beautiful tefilah and song, embraces generations young and old, reunites alumni, and, most of all, opens doors to opportunity and a new chapter. Why I Give… I give for two main reasons: 1.- To set an example for my children. As we become part of a community, we must contribute any way we can, to help others. That help may mean volunteer hours, helping with a specific event, becoming a committee member, financially; there are many ways to help and give back. 2.- I’ve always felt being involved is a way to keep me connected to the school. As my youngest child enters senior year, reality sets in that children leave the school, but we remain here and it feels appropriate to have that connection with a place that my kids have considered home for so long. Kulanu Scholarship Awareness Month Thanks to our amazing community, Scheck Hillel is able to provide tuition assistance grants each year to nearly 200 students. We have successfully raised the funds required for those who need today, and we are already starting to secure their place here tomorrow. It is solely because of the generosity of our donors and our volunteers that this was achieved again this year. Many of our own students led active roles to raise awareness of the Kulanu Scholarship Fund, palpable in the numerous activities and fundraisers that took place throughout the year and, especially, during Kulanu Scholarship Fund Awareness Month in May. Thank YOU! To learn more, please visit eHillel.org/Kulanu or call 305.931.2831 x190.
Why I Give… We give our time to Kulanu because it’s the right thing to do! We just finished with our second annual piano recital to help support the students in school who need it most. Jonathan Naim, Naomi Naim, and Eitan Shlesinger Grade 1 and PK4 Students

The Hebrew word Ma’ayan means spring – a continual source of water that flows naturally to the surface from within the earth, enabling all living things to grow. At Scheck Hillel, it symbolizes the generosity that stems from within our donors’ hearts, ensuring our school’s capacity to educate, cultivate and inspire our Jewish community’s children and adolescents. The Ma’ayan Society transforms lives through innovation while preserving tradition.
