Safety Patrol by Adam
Safety Patrol is a program for 5th graders who want to help at school. They are out in the mornings on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:05. Safety Patrol helps kids get out of their car and make sure they get safely to the sidewalk. If they want us to walk them to their class, we will. To be on safety patrol, you have to fill out an application about how you solve problems. You have to get recommendations from two teachers, also. It is fun because you get to meet kids from all grades. I like meeting the kids from PKT to Kindergarten because they are small and cute. Safety Patrol members are Adam, Yoel, Mia, Daniella, Michelle, Samantha, Nicole, and Andrea. Ms. Cooper and Morah Joanna are the teacher heads of safety patrol.

Holidays by Mark
On Rosh Hashanah we blow the shofar, it is the new year. On Yom Kippur we fast and ask forgiveness. On Sukkot we build the sukkah. It is a harvest festival. We wave the etrog and lulav in 6 directions. I asked students and teachers about the holidays and here is what they had to say about the holidays. Morah Jamie in Kindergarten likes eating in the sukkah, she fasted on Yom Kippur and heard the shofar during Rosh Hashanah. Sofia in grade 10 also loved eating in the sukkah. She did not fast, but she did hear the shofar. Alan in grade 2 liked to sit in the sukkah, he did not fast, but he did hear the shofar. Nathan in grade 2 liked making the sukkah, he didn’t fast but he did hear the shofar.
Lions Den By Bentzi And Avi Chai
Have you been to the lions den? The lions den is the reading room/library designed by Morah Roberta. Over the summer she organized the books by author’s last name for fiction and by subject for non-fiction. Then she put up minion signs to tell what the books were about. Other changes she made were a puppet station, listening center, new books, a carpet for reading, and she ordered beanbag chairs (which still haven’t arrived). this new space is so kids have a place to read.
Student Led Clubs By Mrs Penchev
We have some amazing clubs this year! Monday you can do debate with Matthew. We argue respectfully about topics kids are interested in, like should students be able to use fidget spinners in class. On Tuesday we have video game club with Bentzi. We play cool games! On Wednesday we have a movie making club with Salo where we learn how to make movies! Wednesday we also do newspaper club where we write articles for the school newspaper Cub Call. We will also be creating the podcast! Thursday is robot club with Avi and Shmuel where we will play with Dash and other robots. Friday is Minecraft Coding with Jake where we play code.org Minecraft and other coding games!
From the office of Mrs. Biton With Avi and Shmuel Mrs Biton wants everyone to remember to do their community service. You must do your work here at school. Here is how it works: 1st grade needs one hour. 2nd grade needs two hours. 3rd grade needs three hours. 4th grade needs 4 hours. 5th grade needs 5 hours.
4th G rade Lego Robotics By Benny Dimitri
In robotics we learn about codes. We learn to connect wires to the parts of the robot. We have challenges where everyone works together to try and make our robot faster than others. It is so much fun. At my other school we never did this kind of thing. We are doing more with technology things. We use the Chromebook for tutorials on how to program the robot. Last year we had an exhibition with Hebrew Academy and Lehrman. This year there are more schools joining us, like Gordon School, Brauser Maimonides, Yeshiva Elementary School, Temple Beth Am, Hochberg, Toras Emes.
Shuk
By Adina Heinrich
In the Shuk we sell Hillel related things. Like notebooks, folders, pins, and pencil cases. We also sell sports items, erasers, pencils/ mechanical pencils, lead, emoji items, cool pens, and more. How do you get in the Shuk you ask? To be in the Shuk you have to be in 3rd to 5th grade. To get in you have to fill out an application with some questions about: what would you do if…, How will you handle…, If your friend wants…, and things like that. For the little kids, I suggest that you watch how the big kids handle the Shuk and are working at the Shuk, so maybe one day that could be you”!! See you in the Shuk!!
