IS OUR HAPPY PLACE
NEWS FROM ENGLEWOOD HEALTH FOUNDATION • FALL 2023
IS WHERE OUR IS
For more than a decade, I have proudly called Englewood Health home and witnessed its ongoing transformation. For all the extraordinary growth, something very special remains unchanged. That is a unique culture of compassionate care shared by the thousands of clinicians and staff who also call Englewood Health their home. Peace of mind comes from the ability to deliver the highest quality care to every patient. Thank you for continuing to invest in our home sweet home – and our future – through your support of advanced technology, professional development, community wellness programs and broader access. As we enter the fall season and look to year end, we know we can continue to count on our partners in philanthropy. Your generosity is building the Englewood Health of tomorrow, ensuring that our welcome mat is always out for every member of our community.

YOUR JOB?
There is a great sense of satisfaction in transforming a space and knowing
Yes! We opened the Emergency Department in 2009. We built it on what was a parking lot adjacent to the hospital. I am very
Take advantage of every opportunity to learn, be involved and gain experience. Here, there is an incredible culture of cooperation and teamwork – which makes the dreamwork!
WHERE CAN WE FIND YOU WHEN
I’m playing with my three-year-old grandson, Jasia. He is my everything and doing a good job at keeping me young.
Meet Englewood Health Patient Care Associate Ivette Alberto. A nursing student at Fairleigh Dickinson, this Fairview resident joined the health system a year ago with a desire to gain hands-on experience by working alongside top-quality nurses. Where does she call home? We caught up with her on Englewood Hospital’s 6 Dean Patient Care Unit.
WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB?
When patients or their families thank me with a smile, that is incredibly rewarding. I love knowing I can make a difference, helping patients get well with good care and compassion. It means everything.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO PURSUE NURSING?
Even as a little girl, I loved taking care of others. I have three older brothers, so there were certainly a lot of bumps and scrapes over the years! I was right there with the antiseptic and bandages. My parents immigrated to America from El Salvador at just 16 years old. It was not easy for them. They taught me and my brothers the value of hard work and perseverance. A lot of what I do is so that I make them proud. I know my accomplishments are theirs also.
WHY ENGLEWOOD HEALTH?
The nurses I work beside are incredible and the health system is so supportive in allowing me the resources and training I need to keep advancing in this journey. I expect to graduate soon. It would be a dream to come back and work here as a bedside nurse, while also having opportunity for further professional development through The Kaplen Institute for Nursing Excellence at Englewood Health.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 20 YEARS?
After a few years in the nursing field, I will go back to school to earn my master’s degree. In 20 years, I see myself as a pediatric nurse practitioner. As an experienced nurse, I plan to pay it forward by emulating the teaching moments and opportunities I’ve been given here on 6 Dean.
HOME EXPANSION
When your family keeps growing, home expansion is needed! Continuing to create a home that is welcoming and accessible to all is a top priority. That is why Englewood Health is always at work. Our latest project? It is Englewood Health East Campus in Englewood Cliffs.
Englewood Health continues to build on the expansion plans conceptualized more than a decade ago by adding to its network of multidisciplinary facilities. This new location will deliver convenient and streamlined clinical care in the areas of primary care, orthopedics, rheumatology, neurology, ENT, dermatology, gynecological and diabetes care. Administrative offices will include human resources, marketing, finance and employee health. And there is much more yet to come!
Our donors are the power tools when it comes to recognizing the importance of high-quality care through new delivery points. As we continue to look ahead, the Englewood Health East Campus will be home to a growing family of clinical experts dedicated to meeting the emerging needs of diverse community families.
THANK YOU for continuing to expand our home sweet home!
Thanks to growing community support, we are moving this year’s event to Bergen County’s beautiful Overpeck Park in Leonia, New Jersey! Its central location and walk- iendly pathways make it the perfect home to welcome even more iends and neighbors.
