Incredible strength, X-ray vision, the ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound – there is a long list of superpowers wielded by our favorite crusaders. As fans, it is fun to imagine possessing any one of them. While notable characters like Superman, Wonder Woman or Black Panther immediately come to mind, the truth is that real superheroes are hard at work every day in our community. They do not wear capes or carry golden lassos, but they answer the most important calls for action, helping win real-life battles and save lives. In this issue of Connect, I am excited for you to meet a few champions who really pack a punch with their dedication and support.

Superheroes Superheroes WOW! WOW!

Superheroes can take many forms ... especially when it comes to helping people in need. Look no further than the Englewood Health Foundation’s Annual Walk for Awareness for a united front of everyday superheroes joining forces in the fight against breast cancer. Twenty-five years strong, this much-loved event grows more powerful each year to benefit The Leslie Simon Breast Care and Cytodiagnosis Center at Englewood Health. Since 2017 alone, our super supporters raised over $2 million to provide diagnosis and treatment for uninsured and underinsured breast cancer patients at the health system!

No doubt, Dr. James McGinty is a mighty force in the operating room – using his expertise to change and save the lives of those in his care. While he won’t accept the hero moniker, we thought it would be fun to pretend and learn a little more about our very own Super Surgeon’s alter ego. We asked a few rapid-fire questions to this husband of 24 years and father of four.
