Journey of the Golden Knight
By Chris Sanders, fifth grader at Rocky Bayou Christian School
As I lay down my head, I fell asleep and dreamed a dream of a knight gleaming in armor with an army in front of him and a moon shining behind him. It was the king’s most valuable soldier, most powerful and richest of all. He was the general of all the generals, but his son was sick with an awful disease. In the king’s castle was a well of water that could cure any disease. He said to the king, “May I take a cup of water to my son so he may be healed?” The king said, “Yes, you may do whatever you want for my glory, for you are my best general.” The knight took a cup of water to his son. The son drank it but was still ill. He did not understand this and he went to the wisest man of all. He lived in the church and he read the Bible every day, every single word, every single sentence.
He said to the wise man, “How can I cure my son if the well water can cure any disease but it did not cure him?” And the wise man said, “The water is powerless without a cup of Jesus or Jehovah.” The knight said, “I will get one of the cups with a legion of men.” He came down with a thousand horseman and a thousand footman and one thousand fifty knights. He went to the far regions of the earth and took the cup of Jesus from there. He brought the cup to his son with water in it and gave it to his son and his son was still not cured. He went to the wise man and said, “My son is still not cured from the cup of Jesus and the water of life.” The wise man said, “Foolish young man, you were supposed to go alone with only your sword and shield and attack the dragon of evil and the gate of hell. You must destroy the gate
of hell and the devil, but your shield and sword will not last. Take this silver shield of Jesus and take this mighty magical sword of god Jehovah, mighty and merciful. Then destroy the gate of hell, the dragon and the devil, but on the way, there will be knights of evil and a place of vanity and the most wicked person, the giant of despair, evil and death. He is the undertaker of the devil who processes souls for the devil. Now go, time is running out. You must go to the gate of heaven and then your silver sword and shield will be powered by the might of god.” The young knight ran and ran. The wise man yelled out, “Don’t forget you must do it on foot, not on horseback. I will tell the king where you are and he will have the glory of the goblet.” So the knight took his armor, his new sword and shield and a bag of food and ran and ran to the gates of heaven. But along the way, he met a knight dressed in black with a black horse, black shield and black helmet and he spoke these words.
“You will never reach the gate of heaven. First you must attack me and only when you defeat me will you pass, but if I defeat you, you will become a knight of darkness and serve the devil.” They fought ferociously, but near the end the black knight kicked the sword and shield out of the good knight’s hands and took his sword, but lightning from heaven struck the black knight and he started to melt into the sand. A voice from heaven said, “Go now, I will protect you because you are my chosen knight and you will defeat the dragon near the gate of hell and the devil and when you get the cup of Jehovah you’ll free an army of souls.” The knight said, “I will believe you if you tell me what my name is.” And the voice said, “Your name is Dorei no jiyū or freer of slaves but no longer is that your name. Your name is now Peter.”
Peter said, “My lord you know me well, but I only know you a little.” And after that he found the strength of 1,000 mustangs and ran all the way to the gate of heaven and he saw the god of heaven face to face and he said, “I am going for the cup. Will you power my sword and shield?” And the Lord said, “Not only that, but I will give you the armor of heaven and the silver shield and golden sword.” Peter flew up and a bolt of lightning hit him, but he felt only a tickle and then he fell asleep. When he awoke, he was on an empty road. It went on and on forever. He walked and walked until he saw a small but very popular city. It was a city where the giant Despair lived. Everyone said that he would kill anyone that was a knight of light like Peter. Peter quickly hid in an inn and saw a woman that he knew very well. She was a student of the wise man who loved his knowledge and used it for good and not evil.
He sat down next to her and said, “Hello, Athena Donarelle. How are you?” Athena Donarelle said, “I am fine but you should not be here because the giant is coming to collect tax here.” He said, “Do not worry for I am going to rent a room and rest.” But while he was resting, the giant came in and knew that Athena had told Peter he was coming to collect his tax. So he took her to his castle. When Peter awoke from his rest, he saw that Athena had been taken and he saw more than a 100,000 black knights. Twenty-‐five thousand were armed with spears; 25,000 were armed with crossbows and bows; and 25,000 more were armed with only swords, but 25,000 more were armed with spears, bows and two-‐handed swords at the top of the tower, ready to kill anybody that came up.
Sir Peter said he could not take down the crossbows or the spears but he could take down the ones that had two-‐handed swords which were the closest to the gate to the tower. And so he rushed at them with his shield up and sword drawn ready to attack. When he hit the first knight, an explosion occurred that took down 20,000 black knights. The remaining 5,000 black knights said they would surrender and be his servants. One of the 25,000 on the top of the tower said, “I must go down and help them.” The soldier who was a sergeant in the black knight army ran down to their aid. Peter saw him coming and said to the black knights that were now his, “Ready your swords and make sure and aim at the throat. When the sergeant came down from the stairs, neither his sword nor his spear could take down that many knights so he said, “I will surrender for you are too powerful for me.”
Peter said to the black knights, “Fifty of you will guard him and the rest of you prepare to attack. The spearmen are ready for a charge, but the crossbowmen are watching the skies for a hawk so they could feast on it.” Peter said to the rest of the soldiers who were ready to attack, “Prepare to attack.” And when he once looked at them again, they were not black, they were golden, all their armor and their shields were golden. They charged up faster than they could think, fast as lightning. They came up to the tower and attacked. He said to his men, “Some of you take down the men with spears in their hands; some of you take down the ones with crossbows; he said to some others, half of you will attack the ones with swords and the rest will aid me on the attack of the giant.” The battle was fiercer than ever. The knights killed all of the soldiers. Half of Peter’s soldiers were killed, but the second blow of Peter’s
sword was so big that it topped off all the explosions and it made the sun blink and a fireball from it came down and hit the giant and nearly killed him. Then the third blow of Peter’s sword hit him in the face and then in the back of the head and the giant was severely wounded. Then Peter threw his shield right at the giant’s face. It knocked him out cold and he got his sword and thrashed it into his heart and it made an explosion that everyone in town felt and saw. Then all the knights that were there turned gold and were Peter’s. He turned to the sergeant and said, “You there, you are now Lord of the city. What is your name?” He said, “I am Timothy, for I am one and the same.” Peter said, “Lord Timothy, you are now appointed Lord of this land, which is now called Timothryan.”
Timothy said, “Oh, thank you. Why must we not come with you?” Peter said, “I am desperate to find the cup of Jehovah of truth, light and justice which I will take back to my son so he can live.” Then Lord Timothy said, “Your quest is noble. Go now for the day is almost done. You must go and fight the dragon for when he sleeps he hides himself in a cocoon of diamonds that will never break.” Peter ran faster than light and finally reached the dragon who was eating the leftovers of a man whose soul had been taken from him. The dragon spit out the head that he was chewing on. He said, “This head tastes bitter. I cannot eat it any longer. The giant of despair must have been destroyed. I can tell the town has been named and freed. I have been told to kill the man who killed the giant of despair,
whom you killed because he took your love, Athena Donarelle. “ Peter said, “I see that you have crystallized my wife in rock after you took her from me and killed her.” The dragon said, “Of course and I know that you want to get the goblet. Let us duel.” He set out his huge claws and Peter got out his shield and sword ready to attack. The dragon said, “Make your move.” Peter knew a technique that the wise man had taught him. He grabbed his sword and stabbed it in the ground so hard that waves emanated from it and hit the dragon, who fell into a wall which broke and fell upon him. The dragon ran and the knight grabbed him and threw him into the wall. The knight pretended to do another stab and the dragon ran and the knight stabbed into his heart. The dragon roared in pain and then
turned into gold dust. The knight smacked the dragon so hard with his shield that the dust from the dragon scattered and you could see an old man who was getting younger and younger. It was a young man who was 20 and the man fell and said, “Where am I? Who are you?” The knight said, “I am Peter. You have been a dragon for 5,689 years.” He said, “That could not be. I could have sworn that I have just woken up from a dream.” “What is your name?” said Peter. “I am Gargamele for I am a man of foolishness.” Then a light came down on Peter and God said, “Hold him by the shoulders and he will receive wisdom and say ‘From now on your name is not Gargamele but Rondin, a man of wisdom… You will help the new town prosper until your old age.’” Rondin said, “I cannot for I am lonely.”
Sir Peter said, “Look upon the house that has the blood of a man on the doorstep who has been dead for 600 years. Say ‘I am Rondin the man of wisdom. Come out daughter of Eve. Will you marry me?’” Sir Peter said, “I must go now to the gate of hell that is standing and I must destroy it completely.” Then he went and saw the gate of hell, standing huge. And God said, “Take that thorn in that thistlebrush and carve a cross onto the gate of hell.” Peter did as he was told. The thorn was as long as a dagger and when he was finished the dagger seemed golden and he then let go and the dagger was driven into the cross and the gate disappeared in a burst of lightning and fire. The devil came out with a sword longer than any Peter had ever seen and said, “Let us duel. I see you have come this far. I am smarter than the dragon and you so I will be victorious and you will die. Now let us duel.”
Sir Peter rushed toward him, clanging his sword on the devil’s. The devil gave a mighty blow and propelled Sir Peter into the wall. Sir Peter looked dazed and stumbled up, pretending he was still hurt. When the devil came upon him, he lifted his sword and it clashed against the devil’s so hard that light came out of it and neither could see the other any longer because of the light. Then Sir Peter stabbed the devil right in the middle of his heart and he started to shrivel and turn white. Then he was dust and blew away forever. Then Peter was lifted into the air and teleported into a light so bright that he closed his eyes for a half second. When he opened them it was white and marble stones were everywhere. He saw Jesus standing right above him and he said, “Take the goblet and we will take you to the city of Timothryan for we have talked to Athena Donarelle and you must marry her. She will agree with you. Then you will be taken back
home where you must give the water to your son and he will live.” Everything happened just as Jesus said. He went back to the king and he said, “The water of the cup is here. We must prepare it for my son.” The king said, “No. I have put this disease on your son so that finally, I will be king over all.” The king said, “I am not, because your father was supposed to be the king. I killed him and told everyone that I was his brother. Now I must kill you and your son. When it is noon, your son will die.” Sir Peter looked at the sundial and saw it was already 11:30. He said, “I must do this quickly so I can save my son.” They fought and the king propelled the knight into the wall. The king was about to stab him in the heart when someone said, “Go back to your own land in which you were born and never come back.” The king was disintegrating into dust and disappeared.
Sir Peter saw the man who had spoken. It was the wise man and he said, “You are now King Peter, Lord of this land. And now, goodbye.” Sir Peter said, “What do you mean, goodbye?” “I am leaving. My work here is finally finished.” He began to fly up in the air and said, “Quickly now, go to your son and give him the water.” Then King Peter ran faster than he had before and he poured the water into his son’s mouth. It not only restored him, it gave him more strength than he had ever had before. King Peter ruled wisely over his land forever and ever.
