“CREATIVITY TAKES COURAGE. ”
H E L LO. I have innate passion for art, from a young age I have eagerly looked for ways to incorporate design into my everyday life. Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has allowed me to transform my creativity into a positive contribution to my surrounding environment. I enjoy working in collaborative environments in which I can enrich my knowledge from the perspectives of others, and am always looking for new design solutions. Enclosed are works from my undergraduate career. Enjoy!

Dental
provider
Optimal
Dental is looking to re-brand and expand their services. It is important to the client to create an environment that is suitable for patients of all ages. They would like to expand to serve a higher volume of families while ensuring comfort for all. The current office location is Austin, Texas, however, since Optimal Dental is looking to expand, they want to ensure the flow of the space is replicable and the equipment technologically advanced. Neither of these requirements should affect the patient experience in a negative way or create an atmosphere that is cold or sterile.

C O N C E P T S TAT E M E N T For this project, I will be abstracting forms from a safari exploration. In doing this, the interior will promote a sense of adventure and discovery for the user. Clients will be confronted with a feeling of exploration as they enter the dental office and travel through the halls constructed with natural materials and lined with depictions of wildlife.
DESIGN GOALS • Create a warm and welcoming environment • Promote interaction with seating configurations and flow • Easy navigation through the space • Create relevance to the Austin, Texas area • Calming tones and materials

Inspiration for this project was taken from simplistic organic forms. Natural colors and shapes contribute to feelings of relaxation and respite for the user. The space is separated from general waiting and childrens waiting areas. The circulation of the space allows for open flow and interaction

B R A N D I N G & C U LT U R E Staff should be comfortable and relaxed while at work. The space will promote an organized, hygienic, aesthetically pleasing workplace while being inviting to everyone who walks in the door. Staff should have enough areas for privacy and respite while also being accessible to patients.

M A I T R E D ’ S TAT I O N
Upon entry to KM the user is greeted by the host at the end of a long narrow hall lined with black mirrored walls and ceilings. Mirrored walls are used to reflect symmetry and the geometry of the human form as well as the built environment, a source of inspiration from the Vienna Secession.

Inspired by Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Rooms, the reflection of the pendant lights throughout the space s a way to abstract the gilded background in Gustav Klimt’s works creating a completely immersive atmosphere for the occupants.

CUSTOM ART
Inspired by Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I, 1907 by Gustav Klimt Created on Adobe Illustrator
The portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer or the Woman In Gold is showcased to represent the golden years of Vienna, a time in which art, music, science, and psychology were merging together. This time period birthed a new view of humanity, a new view of the “psychological man” was developed across many fields. The contrast between the reflected mirrors that line the walls, ceiling and floor of the lounge with the illuminated portrait of the Woman in Gold is meant to inspire it’s audience.

CUSTOM DINING ELEMENTS
DINING
01. The dining area connects to the vienna secession through graphic wall displays featuring works of Egon Schiele as well as rounded flat forms of the arched doorway, and contrast between light and dark hues.
02. The walls are lined with booth seating for comfort and optimal views of the restaurant. The intent is to provide the customer with a wide field of vision and lively atmosphere.

BRANDING ELEMENTS MENU & CUSTOM UNIFORMS
COLOR SELECTION The emphasis on flat visual planes, strong colors, patterned surfaces, and linear outlines appealed to the secessionists and helped form a bridge between fine and graphic arts.
DESIGN ELEMENTS Contrast, complimentary colors, comfortable and practical, elegant, Inspiration taken from a traditional Austrian trachten coat

CEILING MOSAIC
An imitation mosaic of Expectation by Gustav Klimt decorates the ceiling. It features the tree of life, a symbolic image that connects life and death and heaven and earth. Tree of Life represents the continuity of life as well as its complexities. It unites all elements of life. Klimt further emphasizes this connectedness by his use of a flattened style and design. This is also true of the human figure n front of the tree. The single woman in a pose reminiscent of ancient Egyptian art. She wears an elaborately patterned dress that expands as it gets closer to the ground.
DINING
The bar seating is attached to the kitchen and offers a special tasting menu provided by the Chef. This fixed menu gives customers a chance to experience unique cuisine on a rotating menu. To compliment the interactive menu the space is darker and filled with a higher concentration of red hues to add drama to the space.

PROJECT LIGHTING .03 DESIGN MISSION
This object is a fully functional pendant light or table lamp inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright patterns. The wood stain has a red tint which is in line with the tones used by Wright. I wanted to incorporate a Japanese influence due to it being a huge inspiration for Wright, I did this by adding a rice paper backing and creating strong geometric forms.
