Healthy Foods: Grains 1.

Read. Grains are good for your health. You need 6-11 servings of grains every day for good health. A serving of grain is one slice of bread, ½ cup of cooked rice or pasta, or one cup of cereal. Whole grains are very healthy. Eat more brown rice, brown bread and other foods that say “whole grain” on the package. Eat less white rice and white bread.

Healthy Habits 1. Before you read, talk with your class: Look at the pictures. What can you say about each picture? 2. Read Healthy Habits A healthy habit is something that you usually do on most days that is good for your health. People who have healthy habits feel better, live longer and don’t get sick as often as other people. Here are some healthy habits. • • • • •
