Stress in Life 1. Read the paragraph. Think about problems in life. For example, you have to pay the rent at the end of the month, but you don’t have enough money. How do you feel? You probably feel stress. Stress is how our bodies react* to events and changes in life. Stress can help our mind and body handle difficult and important decisions. Stress and the Human Body 1. Stress that continues for more than two or three weeks is unhealthy. Read about the effects* of stress on the human body. Your brain sends your heart messages to work hard and beat fast. Over time, your heart gets tired of working hard.
Stress gives you headaches.
Your brain sends your liver messages to make more sugar for energy**. The sugar changes to fat. Your body stores the fat and you gain weight.
Stress gives you stomachaches.
It is difficult to sleep when you feel stress. Losing sleep makes you tired and depressed.

5 Tips* to Take Better Notes Students in Class
Do you write things your teacher says in your notebook? When you write words and ideas in your notebook, you are taking notes. It can be difficult to take notes because you cannot write as fast as the teacher speaks. Here are 5 tips to help you take notes in class. Learn some tips to take better notes. Tips to Take Notes
A. Write short notes. Do not try to write every word your teacher says in your notebook. Teacher: “Please buy the textbook.” Student writes: buy book B. Use note taking symbols. Here are examples: $ = money % = percent = happy
= don’t
C. Pay attention to the teacher. If you cannot write what your teacher says, stop writing. You can ask your classmates or your teacher for help later.
