Surviving in the Crenshaw District is about trying to avoid the gang bangers. These are some general tips on how to avoid being approached.... If you wear a hat with a team logo that has letters on it, theres a chance the logo may be associated with a gang. So, avoid team logos if you do not know if they are gang related or not.

Gangbangers are visual. The way you look says alot.......

Another thing about clothes is not to wear big white T-Shirts. They are gang related for some odd reason

Avoid the Color red and blue. These colors are very distinctive to the gangs in the Crenshaw District.

Tattoos have always been associated with gang culture. If you have any Tattos, you may want to have them covered because they will attract gang members.

us know the deal “I have lived in the Crenshaw District since I was born” “ I have lived in Crenshaw -Eldon Villanueva District my whole life”

Q: Where exactly do you stay? A: I am not going to tell you the exact street I stay on, but I will tell you that I live in the Crenshaw District. Q: Are you familiar with the gangs? A: Yes. Theres no way that you can be young in the Crenshaw District and not be familiar with the gangs. Q: What gangs are around the street you stay on? A: The gangs by me are the 51 Trouble Gangster Crips, 54 Van ness Brims, and the 40 and 60 Neighbor hood Crips. Q: So, I am guessing the 51 Troble gangster Crips and the (40 and 60) Neighborhood crips ght the 54 Van Ness Brims, seeing as they are a Blood Set. A: Not quite. Contrary to the mainstream belief,Crips ght crips too. Gangster crips do not get along with Neighbor hood crips.

Q: If crips ght crips, is the color blue really that signicant? A: You no something, yes and no. Q: Why is it yes and no? A: Well, you can identify a crip by blue but recently in the Crenshaw District, all Bloodsets and Ganster cripsets have teamed up to ght all the Neighborhood cripsets. I cant tell you the speciics tho. Q: So are colors still a big deal? A: Not really,.But if your wearing red, you will most likely be approached by a Neighborhood Crip. Q: What would you recommend to do, in order to avoid gang confrontation? A: I would say avoid baggy clothes and hats with team logos. Q: We mentioned something earlier about team logos; what team logos would you not recommend to wear.? A: I recommend not to wear the team logos of the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, Green Bay Parkers, Minnesota Twins, and Phildephia Philies.

Q: Other than team logos on hats and baggy clothes, how can one identitify a gang member? A: Another easy way to identify gang members is tattos. Sometimes the Tattoos might display the gang they are from. Q: How? A: The Tattoos could just be the name or initials of a gang. Sometimes, gang members have team logos tatted on them. Q: They also get the team logos tatted on them? A:Yes, sometimes they are visible and sometimes they are not. But always check for tattoos.

Q: Okay, we have talked about how to identify and avoid gangmembers, but how can one identify what gang neighborhood they are in? A: Graati. It tells someone alot. Q: Alot,as in what? A: If a Gang name is on a wall with an arrow pointing down, this means this is their territory. Q:Whats more important to look at when trying to identify a gangmember? A: Territory does not realy mean much because gangbangers do migrate around the Crenshaw District. I would look at people’s appearance (tattoos, baggy clothes, and team logos) Q: Thank you for talking to us. Any last words? A: Don’t let the gang culture of the Crenshaw District fully innuence your perception of the Crenshaw District. Its a nice place, but the gangs make it bad. Just avoid the gangs and you should be okay. Take Care.
