Classtools.net Using Classtools.net means you can create flash and HTML games to use both inside and outside of moodle. For most of these games you can copy and paste existing materials into the quiz. Below is a list of the templates that are available on the website. Click on the name and it will take you to the generator.

The above template is for the dustbin game. You can see how simple the interface is to use. You need to name the quiz, and the categories. Then you can paste numerous words or statements in the boxes. When you’ve finished hit the proceed button, to play the game. To save the game as a webpage use the Save Button (disc), to embed your game into Moodle select the second button (cog).


Games@Sandfields These are free flash resources, for you to download and use at home. The example below is the Bash game. Open the zip file below and change the file entitled list.xml and change the words, where it says <right> n<right> change the word in-between. Do the same for <wrong>n<wrong> when you’ve finished changing all the words, save the file and open the bash.swf file to play.


Content Generator.net You will find four of the free to download games on the network. Start>Programs>ContentGenerator.net Choose the type of quiz you want to create and follow the instructions. Once you have placed the questions in one quiz they are transferable to other quizzes. Below is an example of the fling the teacher quiz:

Hot Potatoes Creating Hot Potatoes JCross 1. Open JCross from the Hot Potatoes Menu.

2. Click on the Manage Grid on the Menu bar and select Automatic Grid-Maker. (Fig 1)

3. Add the following words to the Grid-Maker. Make sure that each word is on a separate line.

4. Click on Make the Grid. (Fig.2)

When the grid is created, add a Title to the crossword and click Add Clues. (Fig.3)

To add clues in the box, add the clue and click on the OK button and move onto the next one. (Fig.4)

7. When the clues have been added select the OK button at the bottom of the window.


8. When saving crossword you must remember two important things: a. Save using File> Save As. –, My Documents, and as a .jcw file

b. Then you need to save the crossword as a webpage so that you can use it. To do this click File> Create Web Page> Standard Format in My Documents, as a HTML file. (Fig.5)

9. You will then be prompted to open the exercise in the web browser. You can now play the Crossword. (Fig.6)

Creating Hot Potatoes JQuiz

1. Open JQuiz from the Hot Potatoes Menu.

2. Give your Quiz the Title (Fig.1)

3. Add the Question in the Top Bar (Fig.2)

4. Add the answer’s down the left hand side, one in each box, and then click the correct answer box on the right hand side. (Fig.3)


5. You may wish to add feedback to each answer.

6. Select the Up Arrow next to Q1 to go to the next question. (Fig.4)

7. Continue Steps 2-6 for the next four questions/answers. Figure 4: Go to Next Question

Quizbusters Quiz-Busters are an interactive plenary quiz for two teams based on the popular television quiz program Blockbusters. The resource is designed to be used on an interactive whiteboard as a teacher led activity but can be played by individual students.
