Staff, Graduates, and Students during the Regional Leadership Summit

Mimi’s Musings Maria Carmela Pasaol, CNU Chapter President

I

was indecisive and my mind was preoccupied with doubts as to whether or not I would join this year’s Regional Leadership Summit. One of the contributing factors that somehow convinced me not to join in the said event was my ongoing internship in a certain news organization. At the back of my mind, I had been telling myself that I had to produce news articles as many as I could for my portfolio and joining RLS, I thought, would limit me from doing it. My doubts and fears being elected as the new president of IVCF-CNU chapter also tended to hinder me from attending RLS. But with so many late afternoons and nights of reflecting and praying mostly in the rooftop at our boarding house, God had caused me to obey Him. Indeed, He is a personal God. His words were very clear at that time: “To obey is better than sacrifice,” (1 Samuel 15:22). I was quite unsure if the said verse fitted

rightly in the situation I was but what I know was it was the present answer that convicted me to really join RLS. God comforted me with the assurance of His love and that He would go before and behind me throughout my journey. I praise God for His revelations during RLS. I am grateful for the experience He allowed me to encounter. He taught me through the activities and sessions to be really a missional student. I was also encouraged to be a prayerful student-leader and to be confident in the burdens I will experience just like Nehemiah. Also, through RLS, I was able to understand the status of our chapter in CNU as well as the members of the organization, and knowing these challenged me to be more dependent on God even in little things. I was privileged to be part of this year’s RLS because I was also able to witness the faithfulness of God and on how He has been working in other campuses. I am fully aware that there will be oppositions that will pave our way as we, in our chapter continue to build the walls of hope in our campus, but I am certain that “God will be our refuge and strength and our everpresent help in trouble,” (Psalm 46:1).
