Discipleship-Leadership Training Camp 2016

I praise and thank God for giving me the opportunity to serve Him last DLTC

2016 as the Camp Director . Leading every meeting and initiating what to do are the things I could not imagine myself will be doing with the task I was given of. Fears and doubts are “hunting” me during the camp. Counting the days that passed by, I am still not satisfied of my way of leading. But God reminded me as I observed each of the counselor doing their task to the best that they can do that it is not only me working. The reason why those people were entrusted in their task is because we have to work as a team. God taught me in my way of leading, that I have to stand firm in my decisions, to be more prayerful, and to be more sensitive to the things that He wants me to do. All praises and glory to Him alone. Aaron James Caraca Camp Director 5th Yr. BS Mechanical Technology Cebu Technological University-Main Campus

I t’s fun to raise funds when everyone is doing it. It is more fun when you learn a lot of

things while doing it altogether. Raising camp funds is not easy, especially when you are raising a very big amount. But, when you are doing it together as a team, it becomes easier. That’s what happened last DLTC 2016 . I thank God that we– staff workers and the camp staff (student counselors) understood well that raising camp funds is not just the work of the staff incharge. They understood (both in their heart and mind) that the camp is not ours, but of the Lord’s. And being part of the camp is an opportunity to partner and serve the Lord, a privileged and a responsibility at the same time. Because of these, they’re able to embrace the fact that raising camp funds is not just the role of the staffworkers, but of everyone. I thank God that besides doing our respective camp assignments, from the very beginning we were in doing fund raising. We were one in selling food stuff, doing work for a cause activities, planting fruit trees and writing partnership letters to our graduates and partner organization. I praise God that in the course of all those activities we learned all the more to put our faith in the Lord, trust that He will provide for all our camp needs and just obey what He wanted us to do in the process. And yes, indeed, God provided for all our camp and needs, and even more. He once again allowed us to experience His goodness and faithfulness. It is indeed an encouragement and a joy listening to our students testifying and declaring who God is and what He did in and through us. As I am writing this, 1 Corinthians 12: 12-26 came into my mind. Indeed, we are one body, but many parts. And each part is integral for the body to function it well. Laura Pla Staff In-charge

TESTIMONIES

A

t first, most of the things I share are all about fear. Fear that leads me to sin. But I was blessed to learn during the camp about the Lordship of Christ and to know that I am set apart – I am different. Jesus has all authority on heaven and earth, all I need to do is to surrender everything to Him. God proved me this, during Bible Study leading and Scripture Engagement, that He doesn’t need my knowledge, talent, and abilities, but only my humble and willing heart to allow Him to move me and the Holy Spirit to speak this word through me. Hence my life is not all about me, it is all about Jesus! I promise God, may I Glorify Him in all I do. Vannie Anne B.Sordilla Silliman University 4th Yr. Civil Engineering

F irst of all I thank God for allowing me

to be part of this camp and that even though I was discouraged of my leadership, God used this camp to remind me that it is not me who can change people, but it is only Him. God helped me see and understand the bigger picture of how hard it is to be a missionary and made me realize how small my problems are compared to them. God made me realize the greater value of the Bible that I should not just take it for granted, but to read and apply it daily to my life. And now I am more encouraged to be more selfsacrificing just to win souls for God. To disciple people, to depend on Him more, to dig deeper into His scriptures, to memorize the verses so that I will be equipped for my spiritual battles, and lastly to understand what it is to be Holy and apply it to my life-To be Holy just as He is Holy. ervant-leadership is way too complex for me − to really take it into action not because I have the obligation to do so but the initiative in doing it. So it was, things got clearer for me when I was invited as secretary for this year’s DLTC. I must admit, at first, I was clueless about what might happen. But God assured me with His promise. By His grace I was able to ascertain that it’s more than just paperwork and designing cards, but it’s how God molded on my character and my capacities. -Maria Carmela Pasaol, Assist. Secretary, 3rd Yr. BA Communication, Cebu Normal University
