A
The building is a living organization. It metabolizes the whispers (the everyday stories of the dwellers or the tourists) into exhibits – the energy of a museum. The [hi] story is the people.
URBAN PLACEMENT Athens, city center, Klauthmonos square.
SYNTHESIS THINKING The main idea is to create a path – a smallbig journey inside the building where one can see the unofficial [hi]story of the city. It provides multiple spaces,simple geometry volumes -all conected by a ramp - and a big open meeting point, the courtyard. We tried to keep a balanced relation between the sun and the building by placing big openings on the inside part of the yard facade, as well as isolate the most private spaces. The ramp is the main structural form, and serves a dual function: is accessible to all, and is visible so the visitor like a hiker, track his/her trail all the way to the top nice and even. An underground auditorium will complete the program of the building, as well as the guest rooms at the top level.

Greece, city of Volos, next to the stream of Krafsidonas. The feeling of abandonment is diffused around the riverside ( especially the west coast) : stacks of rubbish, poorly made pedestrian streets – or no pedestrian streets at all- and stench all around. Our intension was to create a new more pleasant and rich experience for the passengers by embracing and reinforcing the green local landscape. Additionally, a pedestrian & bicycle riverside street will connect the university to the park, to achive an area unification.

Firstly we open 2 paths (wooden boards placed on soil so as to absorb the water and let the ground breath) that cross the terrain and connect both sides, and at their sides one can find the nests (pergolas with wooden table and seat).Secondly, we divide the area into 3 smaller pieces, one of each is a different garden with carefully chosen plants that are proper for the area and the climate. The levels have a small inclination so as to lead all the waters to the stream, along with creating different points of view. Also, a channel made out of water permeable cement (placed in the fruit tree garden) collects the spare water and leads it to the stream due to an underground connection. The playground includes games designed with the logic of a route. Finally, a dense tree fence of cypresses isolates the park from the road and protects it from the air & sound pollution.

The park of Nests is a multisensory environment. Different smells each part of the year, various soils weave a patchwork that works both well for the ground and the river by cleaning the rain water but also by creating a playful area for all. And of course, the nests, shadowed or sunny, that provide a place for rest, socializing, or just a refreshing break. The idea was to embody as much biodiversity as possible to this terrain, and why not let people collect berries, fruits or flowers from the gardens. Furthermore, there is the childrean area, a custom playground that incorporates all the values of the park and some extra adventure!

The intention is to create a dynamic, open free space that includes classic values of a square (rest, meet,watch, play) but in a more intelligent way so as to support various scenarios of the public life.
URBAN PLACEMENT Existing square - analysis
The historical Plateia Eleutherias (Liberation square) is situated at the heart of Volos at a central crossroad of the main trade roads. The flows of the existing square are summarized in: big unused green area, it works mainly as a passage rather than a rest point, a part of great significance is occupied by a private use (cafeteria).
SYNTHESIS THOUGHT The main paths remain, as they already serve quiet successful. We
maintain and expand the water element so as to enforce the cre-
ation of micro-climate along with the trees. The west part of the square is equipped with low sitting areas with a simple form so as to be used in many different ways, that each has a green corner, with tree and grass. Close to that, there is a projection wall that also is used as a hard border between the square and the road. From the other side, the pedestrian street is unified to the square due to a big pergola that creates a shadowed intermediate path. This part of the square is more playful as it has different materialities (mixed natural & artificial) with the seating/ standing areas.

U R B A N P L A C E M E N T S The urban complex we chose, is upper level of the city, the Rooftops. The rooftops of Athens are a pure and often unused part of the city. We experimented with different heights of buildings, by connecting the homes with paths, starting from the ground level, up. We created resting areas, by installing collapsible pergolas on the side of the module. By keeping balance with the new skyline, we crate new urban environment withut cluttering the circulation on ground level. Also we create a new city level and new routs, connecting the ground with the sky.

SYNTHESIS We tried keeping the forms simple. All the furniture in the house is expand-
able/collapsible, or in drawer form,
so that we do not create permanent spaces. We created an exchange between sleeping, living and working spaces. pat
CULTURE AND IDEAS
We tried re-imagining the idea of the Greek OIKIA (home) in the modern standards of microhousing. By keeping the concept of ESTIA (hearth), the centre and heart of the home, we created a space of living and gathering all around. It’s living space is fot 4 individuals, but it can host up to 8 people, also referring to the custom of PHILOXENIA (hospitality).

Rocky beaches are often hostile. Designing a minimum infrastructure that embodies a transformable form, for all the free campers and wanderers of the island, that will allow a more pleasant and enjoyable time.

L O C A T I O N Could be any rocky beach! Our example is the secret beach A. in the greek island of Alonissos.
SYNTHESIS PAΤENT The metal bars with the adjustable sockets are designed to receive the wooden boards (with their special cuts and holes) and to connect them in many possible ways. Also, they are capable to work well with fabrics, hammocks, ropes, etc. This leads to the creation of tables, beds, roofs, depending the needs and the mood. The resident has the chance to use the given stuff ( alone or with his/ her own ) in a creative way so as to construct the ephemeral
household.
