What is NIJ Level 3 bullet-resistance? NIJ (National Institute of Justice) is an American test standard to determine the ballistic resistance offered by a material. A 7.62mm calibre bullet travelling at 838 m/s is shot 5 times from a distance of 5 metres from the glass. The glass qualifies as NIJ Level 3 bullet resistant when none of the bullets perforate the glass and when there are no glass splinters (NS) on the non-attack side.
