With higher push on lastdevelopmentinfrastructureoverthecoupleofyears, the road construction industry in India is undergoing a paradigm shift. Strong demand, higher investments, innovative and emerging technologies are reshaping the dynamics of road construction with renewed focus on sustainable development. These technologies include use of improved materials for road construction such as recycled materials, plastic wastes, asphalt, etc. Emphasizing on recycled materials and reducing the amount of energy required to produce asphalt are trends shaping the road construction. Low-temperature asphalt is one outcome of these developments. Asphalt’s core ingredients are aggregate, bitumen, additives and air. Bitumen is produced in various grades of hardness. Depending on the mix and grade of bitumen used, it is possible to lay road surfaces to meet a wide variety of Coloredrequirements.asphalt is increasingly being used not only in road construction but also in gardens and landscape architecture. Colored asphalt pavement can be used to differentiate bike paths from roads and direct traffic. It is also ideally suited to highlight dangerous points or making areas attractive. For e.g. functional colour differentiation can highlight pedestrian and bicycle paths, thus increasing the safety of road users.

LANXESS offers Bayferrox® and Colortherm® pigments that are suitable for the colouring of bituminous mixtures used as the raw materials for all asphalt types, such as grid mastic asphalt, noisereducing and semi-rigid asphalt or asphalt concrete. The color is influenced mainly by the type of bitumen used. Dark bitumens are most commonly colored red using inherently heat-stable iron oxide red pigments with high tinting strength. By using a clear polymer bitumen, the color spectrum can be extended to even yellow or green surfaces.

Press Release

LANXESS pigments provide further decisive benefits. Bayferrox® 130 A red pigment, for example, provides the highest heat stability on the market. Being produced via the Laux-Process, the product’s colour is not influenced even at the high manufacturing temperatures which are applied during the production of mastic asphalt. Bayferrox® 130 A is also available in low-melt PE bags which can be dosed manually directly into the asphalt mix. CM

India is a major market with a growing need for more sophisticated and more sustainable structures. Significant growth in infrastructure is likely, thanks to the policy-driven focus on the sector. The government's continued impetus on infrastructure development has been beneficial for the whole industry though headwinds arising out of rising cost pressure and inflationary impacts could have some volatilities. However, the scope for development across the sector is huge, given the substantial number of ongoing and proposed projects. The current scenario, therefore, presents a competitive landscape for the company to buckle up and take the opportunities to grow the business and continue to create value for its stakeholders. The global Infrastructure sector has grown from strength to strength throughout the disruption and uncertainty in the last year. As we move into 2022 and beyond, it is evident that infrastructure is consistently innovating and developing. CBRE report states that several initiatives by the central government will lead to data localization, aided by the National E-commerce Policy 2019 and Personal Data Protection Bill 2018 that would restrict cross-border data flow. Furthermore, grant of infrastructure status in budget 2022-23 will give impetus to DCs in Karnataka. Additionally, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission which aims to create one million jobs by 2025 and targets US$ 150 billion in IT exports, would bolster demand for digitalization and data storage requirements in the state, particularly in Bangalore. Bangalore to lead DC growth in Karnataka D C capacity requirements would emerge from the rapid growth of the cloud providers in the coming years, thereby creating demand for hyper-scale DCs in Bangalore. Taking into account the city’s classification as the second-most preferred technology destination in APAC and as the knowledge capital and IT hub, which accounted for nearly 40% of India’s total software export in 2020-21, India’s Silicon Valley, Bangalore, will be the prime beneficiary of Karnataka’s DC policy. With a solid push from the government’s ambitious infrastructure development plans like National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development, National Monetization Pipeline and Gatishakti, India will rise to be a key player, the second-largest in the Construction Equipment by 2030. The industry had witnessed a significant impact on production, demand and supply chain due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and it lead to reduce activity and cut costs. The widening supply-demand gap added to its woes with surging material and logistics costs. The sector also witnessed an unusual increase in demand, and also huge supply-side constraints

Conclusion The Indian construction equipment industry is a key wodge of the manufacturing sector and is poised for magnificent growth in the coming years based on India's overall manufacturing sector and infratsructure development. Earthing equipment, material handling equipment and road construction equipment are key segments expected to contribute to the expansion of the growth of the construction equipment sector. To anchorage this opportunity, Indian construction equipment manufacturerrs need to focus on developing individual and merged capabilities to develop global competitiveness across the sector. Through and through, we have followed a very enabler-oriented approach, which is the cornerstone of our offering to the customers, wherein we’re enabling them with their choice, approach, and buying decision- all from the convenience of their home.

Q . As we can notice the customer churn is on the rise, how would you boost the repeat purchase rates and increase the customer retention?

Q . So, what is your approach for Honda to keeping up to date with the latest ecommerce trends and new technologies?

From an analytical standpoint, a very important parameter is understanding the number of customers who are taking the entire journey to the end. If the journey does not seem interesting to them, or if they do not find the answers to their queries, they will just go away. Therefore, what we have ingrained into their experience is the engagement factor. We have tools in place to identify any intentional or unintentional break in the user journey. From here, we have set up a backup, which is our online call centre. Once the break is captured, our team from the calling centre will assist the customer in completing his user journey. Through this, we also assess the factors that lead to the user’s incomplete journey. From browsing to the receipt of the product, we at HIPP aim to offer end-to-end support to fulfil the customer requirements, thus enabling retention in the long term.

The second approach we have integrated is to enhance the customer’s experience of going through our product portfolio and choosing the product that suits his needs the best. From our diverse range of products to the selection of dealers for delivery and installation, we have given our consumers complete autonomy without any nudge from the company’s side.

. As we all know, Honda is already taking the ecommerce battle to India's hinterlands! So how would Honda tap the community group buyers from tier 2 into smaller towns across India differently from other brands? This is an interesting way to differentiate through the tier one, tier two or tier three approaches that we had earlier. Though, if you look at the latest NASSCOM data, you will find that the growth in userbase from tier 2, tier 3, or tier 4 towns cities or places has been much more than what we would call tier 1. That brings forth a crucial outlook change that we discovered many years back when we introduced our range of engines and water pumps. Hinterlands in India have witnessed major growth in terms of product utility, and therefore, with this announcement we are positioned to transform their buying experience towards convenience. We aim to smash the general conception that consumers may not receive their products if they’re opting for online orders from villages, or tier 2 and tier 3 towns. We at Honda Power India are well prepared to meet the growing demands of our customers from across the country and will ensure that our products seamlessly reach our customers through the mechanism of delivery, where we have covered all the pin-codes PAN India with support from our dealers. Our customers will be able to get the product sitting in the comfort of their homes. That's the change that we want to bring!

The first approach that Honda India Power has tried to cultivate is to not make the customer wait or get lost in the endless loops of ‘clicks’ before acquiring the information he/she intends to. We have focussed on enabling the customers by offering a smooth, steady, and quick browsing experience.

. What are your next investment plans for the next two years in the e-Commerce Industry?

Owing to India’s huge growth potential in the agricultural and construction segment, many OEMs like us have entered the Indian markets within the last decade. While the opportunity for mechanization is huge, a lot of agricultural work is still done manually. At Honda India Power, we provide a complete range of premium quality solutions to boost mechanisation in agriculture. We are expecting the market to grow multi fold in the coming years. This has added to the competitive landscape of India as an opportune market for agricultural products. However, as the first OEM to introduce online sales through e-commerce directly, we will be reaching the customers who actually need these products, but face challenges because of proximity to the outlet problem. Through this e-commerce launch, we can reach those customers and provide the same experience, that he or they will have when purchasing offline. We’re taking this opportunity to lead a step ahead. And the great factor is that we will be offering our products through our official website, wherein our customers can first search for products that they’re interested in, and also purchase those products within the same website. So, it's going to be a one-stop solution, where we will be catering to our customer demands all with the same website. This will render us a competitive advantage in this industry.

Since this is a one-of-its-kind announcement, at this moment we would like to see how it goes. The product portfolio which we will be offering initially is limited to five categories of products which are generators, water pumps, brush cutters, tillers and lawn mowers. We will further consider expanding the product line to be offered through our vast dealership network in India.

Q How has the business environment changed over the past 5-10 years? Has it become more competitive?

The biggest risk that we see is with the completion of a transaction through an authenticated payment gateway, so it is not seen as phishing by our customers. Many online portals attempt to defraud the customers, which is a huge risk factor in retaining our potential customers. And therefore, we will have to mitigate that by ensuring that we take this message to as many people as we can reach out to and apprise them that the official Honda India Power Products website (www.hondaindiapower.com) is the one and only brand website where our customers can shop from with peace of mind. . What is that one positive change you want to see in the market to cater for the new customers? Owing to increased smartphone penetration and uninterrupted internet access, the e-commerce industry has been growing at a breakneck pace in India. Even during the pandemic, there were many e-commerce sites that were successfully established. According to a recent survey, the e-commerce industry is expected to witness a growth trajectory of 84% by 2024 compared with 2020. I think we are in the right time and direction to introduce our e-commerce website. In such a time, the positive change would be the inclination of customers towards purchasing our authentic, genuine, and reliable products online as well.

The most important strategy for e-commerce platforms is the sheer engagement of the consumers. As you see, a lot of mushrooming has started to happen which earlier was limited to a few e-commerce platforms. now that mushrooming is happening on a large scale, the only e-commerce strategy that enables the platform to attain a successful growth graph is only engagement. the more platform is able to engage with the consumers directly and understand their needs, the more it is going to grow. Q . Since 2014, the government of India has announced various initiatives, namely Digital India, Make in India, Start-up India, Skill India and other innovation funds. According to you, how is such a program likely to support the growth of e-commerce in India? The government has played a pivotal role in promoting the growth of the Indian E-Commerce Industry. Owing to all these campaigns and initiatives that you mentioned, we can anticipate a boost in investments, we can see a lot of attraction towards the businesses, as well as the adoption of better-than-before technologies. Companies which hadn't decided to come to India are now foraying into the Indian market. The start-up ecosystem has expanded immensely, with quick conversions to unicorns. All these positive endeavours have had an optimistic effect on the growth of our company as well. As you have seen in the past that the mechanization and the ease of taking the physical labour away from the lives of the people are getting a lot of attention. While people earlier did not have such comprehensive access to these facilities as there were not many options, this is not the case in today’s thriving business environment. The unique offerings that Honda provides are a step towards mechanization in India, where we can enrich the lives of customers with comfort and convenience.

Since independence in the year 1947, cement in India remained a controlled commodity for nearly four decades. The price and distribution of cement were controlled by the government of India. In the controlled era the fixed prices were not attractive enough to re-invest in the cement industry to modernize plant and machinery and to create new magnitude. Therefore, there was a gap between demand and supply and cement shortage carried on with the controlled era of the cement industry. As India is the second largest producer of cement in the world. In a result of this both the cement and the consumers suffered equally. Cement was produced as per the specifications laid down by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The choice of cement and concrete as per the application was unknown and the situation was not ideal to offer any motivation towards productivity enhancement of cement manufacturing units as well as towards the quality improvement of cement. As a part of liberalization policy, the government of India stated gradual ‘sense of control’ from the cement in 1977 which led to 12% post tax return on net worth on new capacity creation. It provided the initial boost to cement industry followed by partial decontrol in 1982 and finally cement became a ‘free commodity’ in the year 1989. These policy decisions made a positive impact on quality as well as the economy of the cement industry. This has helped in altering the situation of cement shortages to cement surplus. Cement is now available off-the-shelf. The cement industry has made phenomenal progress in terms of volume, technology and product amelioration. It has the state-of-the-art modern large capacity plants. The quality of Indian cement is at par with the best produced anywhere in the world. Indian Cement Industry is the second largest cement producer in the world after China with a total of capacity of 151.2 million tonnes (MT). The government of India has been giving immense boost to various infrastructure projects, housing facilities and road networks, the cement industry in India is currently growing at a fortunate pace. In the coming years more growth in the Indian cement industry is expected to come. It is predicted that the production in India would rise to 236.16 MT in FY11 & expected to rise to 262.61 MT in FY12 in the Cement Industry. Today India is the world’s second largest cement

producing country in the world after China with a total capacity of 500 MTPA with production of 298 million tonnes per annum. The energy consumption of both thermal and electrical-per unit mass production was brought down through productivity intensification and modernization efforts on the part of cement plants. The quality of cement also improved impressively with better durability and solidity characteristics. The most remarkable aspecst of this interchange is the shift in consumer preference from high strength to high performance or durable concrete which was induced by greater quality awareness among the consumers and high cost of structural repairs. This general improvement in the quality of concrete was achieved through greater use of mineral admixtures which are industrial wastes, namely fly ash and blast furnace slag in cement and concrete. In a due of course of time, the national standards and the codes of practice have also been revised and supported the change.

Thegreater use of industrial wastes as mineral admixtures has led the cement and construction industry in India on the path of sustainable development.

An Overview of Indian Cement History

The history of the cement industry in India antecede in 1889, when a kolkata-based company started manufacturing cement from Argillaceous. This is how the indian cement industry started getting the organized shape in the early 1900s.

www.constructionmirror.com

India entered into Cement Era in 1914 when the Indian Cement Company Ltd intitiated the manufacturing of Cement in Porbundar in Although,Gujarat. even before that a small cement factory was established in Madras in 1904 by a company named South India Industrial Ltd. Indian Cement Company Ltd produced only one type of cement which was desigened by the British standard committee as "Artificial portland Cement". The company marketed its product in Karachi, Mumbai, Madras, and other parts and became a financial success. At that time India had to import cement from England. The prices of the imported cement was too high. There were some amazing factors which helped the comapny to lead the industry in India in a short peroid of time such as increase in domestic demand, reduction in supply from abroad (due to war), availability of Indian Capital, suffiecient raw material, cheap labour, support of the government etc.

Although, in the first instance the production could not reduce the imports and the industry suffered a rate due to war. This lead to closure of many indigenous units. The Indian companies which were away from ports or commercial centres faced the whereabouts disadvantage. The war led to the industry stakeholder approach to the government for some kind of protection. The British goverment constituted a Tariff board which recommended protection of the indiginous industry against the dumping of the imported cement. It recommended raising of the customs duty to 41% which was around 15% at that time, but this recommendation was not accepted by the government.

At present, the installed caapcity of cement in India is 500 MTPA with production of 298 MTPA.

According to IBEF (India Brand Equity Foundation), "Indian cement production is expected increased at a CAGR of 5.6% between FYI16-22, driven by demands in roads, urban infrastructure and commercial real estate. The consumption of cement in India is expected to grow to at a CAGR of 5.68% from FY16 to FY22."

Landmarks in Indian History of Cement In 1925, the first association of the cement manufacturers was formed as "Cement Manufacturers Association" and followed by 'Concrete Association of India " was formed in 1927. In 1930 "Cement Marketing company of India" was started and this was followed by a quota system on the basis of installed capacity of the factories. in 1936 , all the cement companies except one that is Sone Valley Portand Cement Comapny agreed and formed Associated Cement Comapnies Ltd. (ACC). This was the most important even in the history of cement industry in India. Many more companies were established in the following years. Before partition India had 24 factories, out of which India retained 19 factories which annual production of 2.1 million tons. After Independence, the partition of the country had a bad impact on the cement industry. In 1948, the government adopted the Cement Expansion Scheme which envisaged new factories to increase the production. New factories were established at Bagalkaot, Jaipur, orrisa, Travancore, etc. In 1950-51, there were 22 operating units with an installed capapcity of 3.3 million tons. Cement industry was given a great importance in all the inital five year plans. The target of the first five year plan was to raise the installed capacity to 5.4 million tons which was achieved. the industry has grown to multiplex since then.

The cement industry in India saw the prices and distribution control system in 1956, established to ensure as fair price model for consumers and manufactureres. Later in 1977, the government authorized new manufacturing units to put higher price tag for their products. Few years later, the government introduced a three-tier pricing system with different pricing on cement produced in high, medium and low-cost plants. India is the second largest cement producer in the world and announced for over 7% of the global installed capacity. Out of the total capacity, 98% lies with the private sector and the rest with the public sector.

The wheeled equivalent, on the other hand, needs to be used with caution while paving on soft terrain to prevent spinning down into the material and being stuck.

Modern placer/spreaders come with a vibrator circuit for paving and a conveyor with two auger driving circuits for placing. Both a slip-form paver and a placer/spreader have a control system that rapidly and effectively interacts with stringline or 3D machine guiding systems, unlocking their tremendous adaptability. Without raising and lowering the primary mover, the strike-off has independent vertical adjustment to manage the depth of the put concrete. To metre the concrete in front of the paver, smart cylinders that are independent of the prime mover manage the strike-off height. Pressure compensated side plates are used to regulate the edge and maximise material use.

However, lengthy crawler tracks with substantial imprints offer greater tractive effort than wheels, enabling the tracked paver to go forward smoothly and steadily even while operating in challenging terrain. Because of the uniform distribution of weight between the tracks and the pressure it exerts on the paver, they work better in soft sub-base conditions.

Sensor versus mechanical pavers:The most cost-effective and effective option are mechanical pavers, whereas sensor pavers are more sophisticated and have sophisticated monitoring systems. Despite being less expensive, mechanical pavers cannot complete the area with a smooth surface. As a result, the highway's traffic flow is impacted, and the finished road's maintenance needs are raised. With the aid of sophisticated operational technology, sensor pavers may be controlled in terms of mat thickness, mat level, and the grade needed for the final road.

Asphaltmachinery.milling equipment and asphalt recycling machinery are frequently utilised with asphalt brooms and paving machines like asphalt recycling equipment. Asphalt compactors, chip spreaders, backhoes, motor graders, maintainers, rollers, road reclaimers, cold planers, water tanks, and seal coaters are a few examples of paving equipment types. Asphalt compactors have a vibratory system and come with specifications that include the breadth, diameter, and frequency of the drum. Spreaders for asphalt chips can significantly reduce the cost of paving preventive maintenance. Excavators called backhoes have a shovel bucket that is attached to a hinged boom.

hydraulic drive systems - These drive systems for pavers are more dependable, automated, and have reduced running costs. They do away with the complexity and maintenance needs of mechanical drive Independentsystems.

Feeder Mechanishm: The contractor's paving flexibility was extended by the use of rear and front mounted hydraulically extendible screeds, which offered endlessly varied paving widths at the press of a button. They were no longer required to manually modify the paving widths by stopping the paver. Independently controlled feeder systems: By removing flow gates and enhancing mix homogeneity, segregation was decreased and consistency was enhanced. It was made possible by automatic grade and slope systems with acoustic grade sensors to make sure the right quantity of mix covered the whole width of the screed.

Composite GlasGrid can increase service life of bituminous roads significantly by integrating with various applications such as:

• Bituminous overlay on cement concrete road This

There is a growing need for solutionsInnovativetoreduce road repair costs, keeping this in mind SaintGobain India ADFORS offers reinforcing composite GlasGrid for enhancing the service life of bituminous roads. Over the past 40+ years, Composite Glass Fiber Reinforcement Grid has been the most successful to mitigate the growth of thermal and stress-related reflection cracks that may come to the surface of new bituminous overlay. The product has been used extensively in highway, runway construction and maintenance work in more than 64 countries, with nearly 3500 projects taking place every year. Composite GlasGrid is one of the distinguished products of Saint-Gobain India ADFORS in India. It is utilized in projects like airport runway projects (PPP, Defence & Civil), and road projects (National highways, elevated road projects, State Highways), and other related important sectors.

Laterite quarry owners updated their old working method by switching to an MB Crusher Screening Unit to precisely segregate pebbles from the soil and obtain M-Sand.

From the field to the crusher plant the pavement to severe loading condition, Saint-Gobain India ADFORS GlasGrid delayed the growth of cracks by minimum 2.4 times compared to unreinforced sections. Several other research studies have been carried out on Saint-Gobain India ADFORS product in University of Nottingham (UK), North Carolina State University (USA), EMPA (Switzerland), University of Parma (Italy) to name a few. SaintGobain India ADFORS is committed to provide a sustainable, environmentally friendly, improved performing solution for road infrastructure in the country.

An established laterite quarry owner in the southern part of India was looking for a solution which would help them to precisely segregate pebbles from the soil from a farm land located nearby their site. The land was covered in mixed material, pebbles and soil, so they needed to clean out the field and make the land pebble free for the cultivation of Beingmangoes.theland in such a state and in order to segregate the materials, they were using a skeleton Bucket on their Hyundai excavator but were not happy with the overall performance because the method was time consuming and the mud kept getting stuck on the pebbles while excavating.

As a result, they kept obtaining low quality material which needed still needed to be washed, and at the end of the whole process the material obtained was under the required quality levels. They already had a small crusher plant at their quarry that they used to crush the excavated pebbles to produce M-Sand.

With the acquisition of an MB Screening bucket MB-S18 they could turn this overall time consuming and non-effective process into a much more productive one. After purchasing the MB Screening Bucket MB-S18 with 40 x 40mm mesh, they were able to quickly segregate pebbles from the soil & in just one step wash them clean with precision. After completing this process they can send the clean pebbles to feed their crusher plant at their quarry for the production of M-Sand. With the help of MB Screening Bucket, they are able to feed their crusher with more than 75 TPH and they can finally meet their requirements. This not only helped them to save time but increased the overall efficiency of their work thus resulting in optimal utilization of their resources. CM
