The Show
The The Show ... Show ...
If you’re preparing for your own wedding, you won’t want to miss the 2nd Annual Golden Isles Bridal Show which will be held the afternoon of Sunday, February 20 on St. Simons Island. Presented by the Golden Isles Wedding Association (GIWA), the show was created to meet the need for a wedding show in our area. The organizers knew that there is plentiful local talent and incredible venues here in the Golden Isles, not to mention thousands of couples tying the knot, so it didn’t make sense that prospective brides had to go to Jacksonville or Savannah for a bridal show experience that highlighted these vendors. According to Elena Edwards of GIWA, despite months of preparation during a pandemic, last year’s show sold out, and because they learned a lot from that event, this year promises to be even better!
The show will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at picturesque Village Creek Landing, a private peninsula that overlooks Sea Island and Little St. Simons Island. The venue is surrounded by breathtaking marsh views, features multiple set up options, and can be dressed up or dressed down for events of any size or style. Mike Hall, Operations Manager of popular entertainment company Island Sound, raved “The best parts about Village Creek can’t be named without first mentioning Venue Owner, Stacy Gowen, and her team. She is fantastic! The overall aesthetic and layout of the venue is great for guests and vendors alike, while the views are incomparable. The built-in sound system is great for DJ companies like ours, because it makes setup a breeze and a better experience for our clients.”
Stacy will be giving tours during the show and providing more information about the venue’s amenities like the built-in audio system that Mike mentioned, which plays both indoors and out, the iconic gazebo and ambient string-lit deck, custom Sea Island Forge fire pit, upstairs fixed bar and downstairs rolling bar, and ample parking.
Attendees will enjoy mouth-watering tastings from caterers and dessert vendors, show-exclusive discounts, cash bar, and demos. They’ll meet with premier vendors and can get wedding planning done on-the-spot. Some of the award-winning local wedding professionals participating include Brooke Roberts Photography, EDWARD Transportation, Heather Honaker of Travelmation, and The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort. Edward Tracey, owner and founder of Edward Transportation, says about last year’s show: “I could see how exited the brides and their friends and families were to be out and meeting the best of the Golden Isles of Georgia…We received quite a few leads from the show as I am sure my fellow vendors did. It was just a class act, and I am grateful to be a part of GIWA.”
GIWA’s purpose is to grow the wedding business in the Golden Isles. They do this by promoting the area as a premier wedding destination and by marketing and advertising their members as the best resources for local weddings. They offer an online directory of participating local vendors, organized by wedding category, to make wedding planning easy. They also profile work by their member vendors on their Facebook and Instagram accounts @goldenislesweddingsofficial. Follow for inspiration and to learn more. Elena says, “We expect another sold out show, so make sure to purchase tickets as soon as possible online at goldenislesweddings.org!”
