ROUND UP FOR THE PUPS
And the kitties too! The Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia has partnered with Roundup App, a “spare change” donation platform that lets you automatically donate change rounded up from everyday transactions. When you use the RoundUp App, the extra change from each transaction you make on a card of your choice is rounded up and donated to HSSCG monthly for the care of the animals, which number in the thousands each year. It only takes a few minutes to complete your profile online and choose HSSCG as the nonprofit. Your RoundUps will then be automatically tracked and donated to HSSCG on the last day of each month. GATHER THRIFT AND CAFÉ NOW OPEN
The Gathering Place now has a new community focal point: the “Gather Thrift & Café” located at 3883 Altama Avenue in Brunswick. Open to the entire community, the center is strategically situated near the College of Coastal Georgia and Brunswick High School to provide a safe space for students to study, meet with others, grab coffee, or do some shopping. The G Café opens at 6:30 a.m. and G Thrift at 10 a.m. Monday-Friday until 8 p.m. Both open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and closed on Sunday. Proceeds fuel the mission of The Gathering Place, a Christian youth mentorship and leadership development organization with the goal to reach, equip, and send students with the Gospel. FOUNDATION DONATES FUNDS
The American Red Cross of Southeast Georgia recently received a generous donation of $5,000 from the Terry Thomas Foundation. This grant will support emergency Susan Goodhue of the Terry Thomas disaster services to those in Foundation and Brooke Thompson, Red Glynn County, including Cross Board member and volunteer relief from severe weather and home fires. Thanks to donations like this, hundreds of people can be assisted by connecting them with recovery services, providing temporary shelter, and meals. “We are grateful for the ongoing support of the Terry Thomas Foundation,” said Maria Center, executive director of the American Red Cross’ Southeast Georgia Chapter. “Their understanding of the significance of ensuring that we have the funds to provide essential emergency disaster services is critical to helping all people in Glynn County.” Last year, the organization responded to 40 disaster operations and provided resources to 51 families throughout Southeastern Georgia.
