It’s July on St. Simons Island and that means two things: One, it’s HOT! Two, kids are out of school for the summer.
I grew up here on the island in the 70s and summer on St. Simons as a kid was like having your own summer camp. It was before iPhones, computers, video games and hundreds of TV channels. Summers were the best because our parents worked, and we got to spend hours exploring the far reaches of the island. Most days began with me yelling, “Mom, I’m goin’ to the Casino,” as I hopped on my bike and headed out of Epworth to meet up with my buddies in the Village.
For anyone who grew up on the island in the 50s, 60s and 70s, summers on St. Simons meant summers at The Casino. Now, before you think we were a bunch of degenerate gamblers, The Casino was a recreational building with a trifecta (See what I did there!) of summer activities for kids. There was a huge swimming pool with a regular diving board and a high dive board, a roller-skating rink AND a bowling alley!
I was a member of the Golden Isles Swim Team, and we practiced in the Casino pool every morning. After swim practice, you could go up to the skating rink and try to hone your skills on wheels to impress the 5th and 6th grade girls. After many failed attempts at that, you’d regain your manly pride by hitting a few strikes at the bowling alley with your buddies. If you were hungry, you’d grab a bite at the Casino’s concession stand or stop at Tasty Freeze on your bike ride to the baseball field for a pick-up game. Back then, you could ride your bike anywhere, lay it down on the ground and not worry about someone stealing it. You knew what everyone else’s bike looked like so you knew who was at the ball fields by just looking at the various bikes strewn on the ground.
Regrettably, the old Casino was torn down in the 80s. In its place is a very nice public pool and putt-putt course. I still like to ride my bike down to the village, walk on the pier, ride past the old Casino, and get an ice cream at Frosty’s (the old Tasty Freeze). As a kid, I rode my bike all day and never got tired. These days it’s a long haul back home to Sea Palms. “Mom, can you pick me up at the Casino?”

Get Acquainted
If you’re visiting St. Simons Island for the first time, you might be wondering where to start. We recommend the Golden Isles Visitor’s Center at 529 Beachview Drive. Located in what’s known as “Pier Village” or simply “The Village,” the Visitor’s Center has maps and brochures detailing local attractions, activities, accommodations, tours, and more. Their Live Oak Store is a perfect place to pick up a tote bag, hat, books by local authors, postcards and other creations by local artists. While you’re there, a good way to get the lay of the land and to learn about some of the island’s rich history is to hop on one of the trolley tours that board near at the pier. Another absolute must-do when you’re in the Village is climbing to the top of the lighthouse, but you don’t have to start your visit with that. The current structure has been here since 1872 and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

For most people visiting, the next stop is the beach! So be sure to pack that tote bag with ample sunscreen, a good read from Righton Books, plenty of water or other refreshing beverage of your choice, sunglasses, cover-ups, towels, etc. You can find beach toys and all the essentials at St. Simons Drug Co. Southern Tides is a terrific shop to grab swimsuits and beach attire to outfit you in style. If you’re making a full day of it, be sure to grab snacks or some of the delicious to-go lunch selections from Three Little Birds – Fly In, Fly Out.
St. Simons Island has four miles of beaches. The most popular area is East Beach, with main access points at the Old Coast Guard Station (First Street access to East Beach), Gould’s Inlet (the northern-most access point on East Beach at 16th Street), and Massengale Park (1350 Ocean Boulevard). The access points at Coast Guard beach and Massengale have large parking areas and convenient bathrooms. There are concessions available at Coast Guard beach.
Vehicles are prohibited on the beach. For visitors traveling with pets, please be aware that from now through Labor Day, dogs are not allowed on the beach between 16th St. (East Beach South) to Mallery St. (the pier) between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Dogs are permitted on the beach north of 16th Street any time of day. During allowable times/areas (and in non-summer months), dogs must be within close proximity and under the immediate control of the owner/handler. If the handler is unable to control pet via voice-command, a 10' leash is required. Owners are required to clean up after their pets.
While collecting shells is a favorite activity for many, it is illegal in Georgia to collect and kill live animals from the beach, including hermit crabs and sand dollars. If a sand dollar is brown/ purple and has bristles, it is likely still alive. Sand dollar skeletons have no bristles and have been bleached white/grey by the sun. When you’re leaving the beach, you’re welcome to take the skeletons with you – along with any trash from your visit.

From May through October, Golden Isles beaches are nesting spots for sea turtles, which are protected by state and federal law. To provide them with a safe path of ingress and egress, all sandcastles should be knocked over and any holes dug on the beach should be filled before you leave. Do not touch or disturb nesting turtles, hatchlings, or nests. At night, please keep the beach as dark as possible and if flashlights are carried, use certified turtlefriendly red LED lights instead of white artificial light.
There is a Beach Warning Light and Warning Flag system in place from Memorial Day to Labor Day to notify visitors of conditions. The light key is posted at main beach access sites. Flags are also used at lifeguard chairs. Please pay attention to the lights/flags and do not swim in hazardous conditions. Lifeguards are present from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily at Coast Guard and Massengale beaches from Memorial Day to Labor Day. While they are there to provide assistance when needed, you swim at your own risk.
While the sandbars here make tempting spots to go look for shells or have your own private island for a little while, please DO NOT swim out to any visible sandbars. Many people here do not realize how quickly the tides change. The sandbars you see now may be completely submerged by as much as six to eight feet of water in a very short period of time. The differential between ocean levels at low and high tide on St. Simons Island is one of the highest on the East Coast, so it is essential to know the times of the tide change. Even strong swimmers have difficulty when that change occurs and the rip currents swirl, because the water can be moving as fast as ten miles per hour. To guarantee you’re not caught in this situation, you want to be well away from sandbars before tide change. To know when tide change occurs, check a local tide chart at tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov or a tide chart app such as Tide Alert (NOAA) – USA, My Tide Times, or Tide Charts.

Rip currents are common. They are difficult to see and more dangerous than undertow. They can sweep even the strongest swimmer out to sea. If you are caught in one, don’t fight it. Do your best swim out of the current in a direction parallel to the beach and then make your way back

If you can’t escape the current, tread water or float on your back. If you need help, your arms for assistance, but it’s important to stay calm. Trying to fight the current and swim shore will quickly tire you out. Floating out allows you to break the grip of the rip current. Wait until you can make headway swimming parallel to the beach before it safely back to shore. Have fun, but be careful too!
If you don’t want the hassle of bringing your own chairs, umbrellas, tents, towels, sand toys, etc. to the beach each day, there are beach services and concierge companies available to do this. If you’d like to explore the water by kayak, stand-up paddleboard, or boat, you’ll also find a wide variety of options from rentals to sunset dolphin tours to charter fishing. Southeast Adventure Outfitters has been sharing the beauty of the Georgia coast with visitors since 1994 with daily kayak and boat tours. They have a shop in the Village on St. Simons Island with maps, outdoor apparel and accessories, and a Brunswick dock by Marshside Grill. This year, Turtle Tides Outfitters has made some big changes with a new online booking system and storefront with gear and apparel in Redfern Village. To go shrimpin’ aboard the Lady Jane, check out Coastal Tide Excursions at ShrimpCruise.com.

Whether you’re catching waves in the Frantic Atlantic wave pool, racing down the slides of Nature’s Revenge, Force 3, Pirates Passage, or Man O’War, or lounging in a tube as you wind around the half-mile, slow-moving, lazy river of Turtle Creek, you can find an attraction suited to your speed and thrill level. Even the littlest splashers can enjoy the expanded pool and several small slides of Shark Tooth Cove while parents and guardians appreciate the

Walk the Dog
If you’re traveling with a furry, four-legged companion, you’ll discover St. Simons Island is a very dog-friendly place. You’ll find accommodations that welcome dogs and lots of places to dine outdoors with your pup. While beach access may be limited only to certain hours and areas on St. Simons Island, you can always island hop to Jekyll, where leashed dogs are permitted on the beach year-round. On St. Simons Island, you’ll find a dog park that has separate fenced areas for big dogs and small dogs on the north end of the island at Frederica Park. There’s a walking trail with fairy houses there too! We strongly recommend use of insect repellent and checking carefully for ticks when exploring wooded trails and parks. Epworth Park also has a fenced-in run with play features where dogs can frolic. Remember to drop by St. Simons Wash for easy dog-washing after your play sessions on the beach or at the park!
Dogs are also welcome at Fort Frederica National Monument, if you’d like to go take in some island history with your pet. Learn about the fort built by General James Oglethorpe in 1736 to defend the fledgling colony of Georgia against Spanish attack from Florida. The establishment of the town of Frederica along with the military installation is where our first settlers began their life
on the island. You’ll see homestead sites and archaeological remains as well as artifacts that have been preserved from the site. The National Park Service will even bestow a Bark Ranger badge for your pup’s collar if you meet the Bark Ranger program requirements: 1) Bag your pet’s waste. 2) Always leash your pet. 3) Respect wildlife. 4) Know where you can go. For more information and park hours, visit nps.gov/fofr.
If you’re traveling with animal loving kids and a wellbehaved pup, another terrific place to visit is The Farm at Oatland North. This privately owned and operated animal sanctuary on the north end of St. Simons Island has horses, goats, pigs, donkeys, and other animals that are happy to greet visitors during Open House hours most Sunday afternoons from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. You’re invited to bring your leashed pooch along for a stroll around the shaded grounds while you meet the animals and learn their stories from the friendly farm volunteers. Learn more at thefarmssi.org.

Before You Go
Whether you’re exploring the island by foot, bike, boat, golf cart, or car, we hope that you get to take in as much of the island experience as you can. Between all the history, natural attractions like the beach and maritime forest, fabulous dining, and fun events, we know it might be too much for one visit. You know what that means? You’ll have to come back until you’ve seen it all. And once you’ve done that, you’ll love it so much you want to return to see and do it all again!
Just go ahead and make your reservations for your next visit! If you’re planning a wedding or large event, tour The King and Prince Beach & Tennis Resort to see if their elegant indoor and outdoor event spaces can make your party dreams come true. Not only is it a prime destination wedding venue, it’s also an ideal spot for an anniversary weekend, girls’ getaway or guys’ golf trip. Even if you’re not planning a stay, take a few minutes to sit in one of the swings on the back lawn, look out over the ocean, and dream. For more information, visit kingandprince.com. 40 ELEGANT ISLAND LIVING
AN OLD GEM Sparkles ANEW
Initially constructed in 1909 as part of the Samuel H. Kress & Co. “five and dime” department store chain, modernized and rebuilt in 1958, The Kress Brunswick is now taking on a new life as a revitalized boutique hotel. After touring the beautifully transformed space, Elegant Island Living recently sat down with members of the team behind the project to discuss the renovation and unique offerings of this luxurious hotel. The underlying vision of the Kress team was to create a destination within the downtown community that combines modern Southern hospitality and an Old World aesthetic, with the end goal of further revitalizing the community.
Beginning with a top-notch team was essential. They chose professionals that were well-educated in their fields and kept open lines of communication throughout the entire process. Wiregrass Studio provided Architectural Design. 9 Oaks and Co. served as General Contractor. Mac Holland was responsible for Interior Design and worked closely with Fran and Paula Antczek of Island Sea Designs for furniture and artwork sourcing. Hospitality Director Shannon Westberry and General Manager Nathan Pittman rounded out the team entrusted by the owner to execute his vision for excellence in polishing this priceless old gem and giving it a timeless sparkle.
The eight suites in The Kress each have their own individual look. While all are decorated with intricate design, historical details and vintage accents that provide an inviting and comfortable atmosphere, none are decorated the same. This gives each room a more personal feel and with decorator Mac Holland sourcing from local buyers, primarily Island Sea Designs, it also incorporated local and sustainable décor. None of the hotel’s décor was purchased new, except for the sleeper sofas, and it was all handpicked by Fran, Mac, or sourced from local antique stores. All of the furnishings were refurbished and given another chance at life at The Kress. The same is true of all of the artwork. Everything was chosen to take the guest back in time to the golden age of Southern hospitality. The gorgeous setting created by the vintage décor is enhanced by the natural light that streams in from the large windows and various balconies throughout the hotel. The stunning golden hour views create a soft and warm ambience for guests.
When asked about favorite rooms in the hotel, The Signature, is the popular choice due to the history embodied within its walls. This loft suite features exposed brick and a vaulted skylight ceiling in the bedroom, but what makes it the most unique unit in The Kress are the signed monikers of WWII soldiers leaving for war that were left behind on the wall in the dining room. It is this feature for which the room is named. The comfort, natural charm and Old World beauty captured within the units in The Kress set them apart from any hotel suite you have experienced. When paired with the hotel’s exceptional Southern hospitality provided by guest services that include white-gloved doormen and individual floor staff, you’ll feel right at home as you enjoy everything the Golden Isles have to offer from bike tours and fishing charters to leisurely strolls under the grand oaks downtown.
Shannon described the process: “The architect, builder, decorator, and I all saw the vision displayed for us. We would sit with the architect and go over every little detail, then walk the building with the builder with the decorator. We would envision every detail and try to see and feel everything from a guest’s standpoint. We want The Kress to stand for true Southern hospitality and warmth and it was our job to make the guest feel that.” THE RESORT EXPERIENCE, SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY INSPIRED.
She continues, “Every person on this team worked well together to bring this project to successful fruition. I have never worked with a more dedicated team than Wiregrass, 9 Oaks, Mac Holland, and Island Sea Designs. Every detail requested was fulfilled in a timely manner and exceeded expectations. This by far was a project for the history books. The result is amazing and we’re just getting started.”
If you run a business and are looking to get your employees out of the office and into a new thinking space, The Kress can accommodate small corporate events and retreats. While they may not offer traditional
JULY 2023 37
conference room type seating, the unique nature of the venue can provide a more intimate, living room style conversation which can be conducive to positive team-building experiences and productive brainstorming sessions.
Other offerings in The Kress include 1509 Brunswick, a rooftop restaurant that partners with the hotel to provide their guests with an exceptional dining experience and the Brunswick Rocks bouldering gym. 1509 Brunswick offers fresh and flavorful local dishes prepared by the fantastic culinary team of Executive Chef Christopher LaGrone and Sous Chef Lee Newton, served up with Southern charm courtesy of the hospitality staff under the management team of Galin Hall and Jessica Stowe. Barkeep RB is always ready to mix up your favorite drink with a smile, and it’s hard to beat a sunset on the roof with the bird’s eye view of Historic Downtown Brunswick. See what’s on the menu and make your reservation at 1509brunswick.com.
Brunswick Rocks is the brainchild of Michael Gowen of Southeast Adventure Outfitters and Jared Divincent of On the Fly Outfitters. Their vision for the bouldering gym is to add to downtown revitalization efforts by providing the opportunity for local children to experience a new sport and develop discipline, teamwork, and healthy fitness habits. Organized as a 501(c)(3), their mission is to be not just a gym, but a community. They are actively seeking sponsors at this time and your support of this exciting project through sponsorship is fully tax-deductible. Learn more at brunswickrocks.org.
Additionally, the team is completing Phase 2 of the renovation, which will offer four additional hotel suites and a dedicated lobby. This area will not only serve as the hotel’s lobby, but a quaint gathering place where people can enjoy a glass of wine and listen to music on the piano in the evening
Shannon sums up her feelings about the completed project beautifully: “I am humbled by the enormity of the undertaking that got us to where we are today. We take pride in being able to provide guests with a unique place to stay in the heart of our hometown. The attention to detail we desired was successfully captured every moment of every day. You will not find another project in Brunswick where so much love and passion for quality craftsmanship has been poured into the end result.” That love and passion shines through brilliantly. The Kress team deserves hearty commendations for the work they accomplished and the unparalleled accommodations and hospitality they o er in this unique boutique hotel.
before dinner. Phase 2 is planned be open to the public September 1. Plan a weekend “staycation” or book a room for visiting guests and you too will be impressed. Conch Salad
By Duane Harris
IT’S ALL ABOUT CONCH: CONCH SALAD, CONCH FRITTERS,FRIED CONCH, CONCH CHOWDER, ETC., ETC.
Ilove conch, but our travel to Elbow Cay in Abaco, Bahamas, was not really about conch. This trip was about traveling with our granddaughters, Haley and Morgan Williams. They love conch and the Bahamas as much as my wife, Carol, and I do!
Every year since 2015, we have taken Haley and Morgan on a week-long trip to enjoy places beyond. We have been to Washington, DC; the Florida Keys; Barcelona, Spain; and the Bahamas. Traveling, especially when it involves fishing and diving, is in their blood. When we go to the Bahamas, their parents, Chris and Nicole Williams, have tagged along.
The girls are now seniors in college and just turned 21. Haley attends Lipscomb University on a soccer scholarship. Morgan attends Georgia Southern on a Hope Scholarship. It’s anyone’s guess how many more travel experiences we will have with these beautiful young ladies, so we want to take advantage of the opportunity whenever we can.
This past May we decided to make a return visit Elbow Cay. We were last there right before Hurricane Dorian devasted the island and surrounding areas. Marsh Harbor, the location of the airport where one lands when visiting Elbow Cay, had five feet of water over
the runway. We had planned to visit last year but the island was not ready for us, so we went to Great Exuma instead. We enjoyed Great Exuma, but it is a different experience than Elbow Cay and Hope Town. We did find that on both islands the locals are wonderfully friendly, but we missed the atmosphere of Elbow Cay.
When we go to the Bahamas, we travel on Aztec Airways, a charter company out of Ft. Lauderdale. We like flying with them because they’re happy to pick us up in Ft. Pierce, which means we don’t have to make the drive into the land of crazies. You might think flying by charter to Marsh Harbor is travel reserved for the rich, but that’s not so at all; it doesn’t cost much more than flying from Brunswick to Atlanta and Atlanta to Marsh Harbor. It also
has the benefit of allowing us to take fishing equipment and food to cook on site.
This year we stayed at Cheers, a home on Elbow owned by the Rentz and Ferrelle families from St. Simons Island. It’s a beautiful beach property with all the comforts of home, and includes a swimming pool! Visitors mainly travel in golf carts. While we may not be fond of them on our busy St. Simons Island thoroughfares, they are a wonderful mode of transportation on Elbow. We also always rent a boat when we’re there so we can go to the reef sites for snorkeling and making photos/ videos with our GoPro cameras. Our craft was a 23-foot Albury from Island Marine this year.
We chartered a fishing guide Captain Justin Russell of Local Boy Charters with the hopes of catching
40 ELEGANT ISLAND LIVING
JULY 2023 41
some groceries for our stay. We had a great day, catching six mahi (dolphin fish), and one-half of a blackfin tuna, the remainder of what Mr. Barracuda had enjoyed! Our ample catch provided us with several meals, including sashimi three nights in a row, and we still had tuna to bring home. Haley, Morgan and Nicole dearly love tuna, so this fresh supply was quite a treat!
A first for us during this visit was touring the Hope Town Lighthouse. You can only get to the part of Elbow where the lighthouse is located by boat. We made our way over in the rental boat to Hope Town Marina, where transit slips are available for day users. After a short walk to the lighthouse, we made the climb to the top and enjoyed the wonderful views.
Perhaps the highlight of the trip was a dive on the Sandy Cay Reef. We stopped there on our way to Pete’s Pub on Great Abaco. Shortly after we arrived at Sandy Cay and hooked to a mooring line provided for exploring the reef, we were visited by a very friendly green sea turtle. Haley took amazing videos of this beautiful animal who has obviously been fed by other visitors.
The last day of our boat rental we traveled to Mermaid Reef near Marsh Harbor. Mermaid Reef had six moorings the last time we visited. After Dorian, only one mooring remains, but we were the first boat there and used it. Mermaid Reef is home to abundant aquatic life and we observed many types of fish, including one lionfish. Because lionfish are an invasive species and do significant damage to local
42 ELEGANT ISLAND LIVING
fish ecosystems, I told the staff at Island Marine what I had seen when I returned our rental boat to Island Marine. They asked if I killed it, because lionfish are not wanted there! Unfortunately, I did not have that opportunity because I didn’t have a spear, but I certainly would have done so had I been so equipped! While lionfish are harmful to the local fish, they have the benefit of being great to eat. Too bad they will not go into traps and do not seem to be catchable with hook and line. Spearing is about the only way to harvest them.
While waiting for our charter at Cherokee Air, the FixedBase Operator at the Marsh Harbor airport, we had another unusual encounter. We watched as Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman arrived via private jet and were whisked away by private transportation enroute to their boat headed to Baker’s Bay Golf & Ocean Club, a very exclusive, membersonly, luxurious, secluded resort on Great Guana Cay. That was different!
I could go on and on about our visit to Elbow Cay, but all good things must come to an end, just like our trip and all that delicious fresh tuna and conch. We’re happy to have the shared memories that remain. But if you find yourself in Elbow and want conch salad, call Gypsy Girl. She’s the best!

Cottage 342, W. Seventeenth Street, Sea Island
Occupying most of the 17th Street block, this prized and revered property extends from Sea Island Drive all the way to the marsh. For families who enjoy staying together and being close to one another, Lune de Miel (Cottage 342) is lovingly placed on the land with the precision of an artist, an apt metaphor given the materials, furnishings and appointments dating from the 17th century. The enchanting grounds contain a moated gazebo with Louis XIII French limestone mantel (circa 1672), alfresco grill, pergola, 3 pools, bath house with laundry room, basketball court, chess court, Dovecote (circa 16th-17th century), circular fire pit, putting green, chipping tee box, Bocce Ball court, shuffleboard and long northwesterly marsh vistas. Twelve bedrooms (9 with fireplaces), each with their own personality, 17 fireplaces, an Irish pub with 17th century Roman carved black slate fireplace. The English Victorian pine front bar has the original mahogany counter top (circa 1849) from a tavern in Birmingham, England. The back bar is from Fritzingers Hotel in Coopersburg, PA (circa 1883). Walk-in cooler. The Game Room/Parlor has an 1886 Brunswick “Jewel” pool table and a Rock-ola maple and hardwood shuffleboard table. Adding to the authenticity of the home’s appointments, a 19th century bronze and ormolu French chandelier adorns the brick lined Wine Cellar. A solid European red oak and hand forged iron door (circa 1850) leads to the Theatre with rare Italian barrel-vaulted ceiling (circa 17th century). The family room limestone fireplace (circa 1600-1750) is from the Chateau Fountain in Sologne, France and belonged to the family of the wife of former French President Jacques Chirac. Indeed, this is a grand residence yet with a warm, comfortable loving ambience. Lune de Miel is the sequel of a couple’s spark of beautiful love where lasting memories were made. $17,995,000

Sweet Summer Memories of the Waycross Colony
Frances Peabody McKay spent her childhood waiting for summers on St. Simons Island. For 36 years, Frances’s family spent three months a year occupying two cottages in the Waycross Colony, a group of small vacation homes clustered beneath the St. Simons Lighthouse. Although the clapboard cottages were destroyed by fire in 1934, Frances’s book about her family’s time there, More Fun than Heaven, describes years’ worth of island memories.
As children, Frances and her siblings looked forward to swimming in the ocean, playing with their “summer friends,” and riding the steamer to the island from Brunswick. For the Peabody family, summers at the Waycross Colony were truly a family affair. Their cottages housed the Peabody children, their mother and maternal grandparents, their grandmother’s aunt, and a host of other aunts, uncles, and cousins who came to visit.
Frances held onto fond memories of the “goodie shelf” in a corner of her grandmother’s bedroom, “which was always full of gum drops, marshmallows, hard candies, and ginger snaps.” One summer, when Frances’s cousins visited the Waycross Colony, her grandmother brought
marshmallows off the shelf for dessert. Frances’s three-year-old cousin Helen had never tasted a marshmallow before and was desperate for another. She sneaked into her grandmother’s room and seized the biggest marshmallow she could reach. It turned out to be a bar of Ivory soap. “She came running out of the room with Ivory soap bubbles coming out of her mouth, spitting and choking,” Frances said. “As soon as she could talk, she was saying, ‘I don’t want it!’”
Despite this incident, the “goodie shelf” remained a tradition in the Peabody family. Frances, her mother, and her siblings unpacked and furnished their summer cottages as soon as they got off the steamer. There were important tasks to be done, like spreading out mattresses and moving furniture. One of the first tasks Frances’s mother completed, though, was placing “the gum drops and ginger snaps … on the three rough shelves built into a corner in her bedroom.”

Southeast Georgia Health System is the first cancer center in Georgia to use the next-generation CyberKnife® M6 with MLC technology, a fast, effective radiation treatment option for cancer.
• CyberKnife treats prostate, lung, breast, brain, pancreatic and liver cancers.
• Precise targeting delivers high radiation doses to the tumor and spares surrounding tissue.
• Treatments take as little as 15 minutes and can be completed in one to five sessions.
• This outpatient, non-invasive procedure means no anesthesia, no pain, and little to no recovery time.
