FROM THE DESK OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR I extend my earnest call to all aspirants to join Gautam Buddha University, an emerging global university that inspires growth, continuity and a meaningful transformation in academic practices. With its fundamental commitment to ensure quality input, our academic programmes have been designed in line with the best universities around the world. ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY Gautam Buddha University, established by the Uttar Pradesh Act (9) of 2002, commenced its first academic session at its 511 acres lush green campus at Greater Noida in August 2008. The University is fully funded by the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) the undertakings of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The University envisions to become a world class centre for excellence in education with a special focus to serve the under privileged and economically challenged sections of the society. The University is modeled as a fully residential educational campus in line with the best institutions of higher learning across the globe. The uniqueness of its reputation is acknowledged through the format, content and pedagogy of its programmes and their relevance to the society. CENTRAL LIBRARY Bodhisatva Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Pustakalya Bodhisatva Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Pustakalya is a structural marvel designed with inspirational inputs from the Buddhist Traditions of Learning. The Library building, situated in the centre of the Gautam Buddha University Campus, symbolises the Crown of Buddha and the Eight Schools of Learning on the Circumference of the Design represent Eight Paths of Learning in Buddhist Tradition and Practices. The building is the tallest one in the campus and marks our tribute to Lord Buddha. The library, constructed in approximately 1.78 lacs sqft and spread over five storeys, supports the University's mission to contribute to society through its pursuit of education, learning and research at the highest international levels of excellence. It is the heart of academic and research activities of the Gautam Buddha University. It has huge volumes of books and e-journals which cover the disciplines of management, computer science, information technology, biotechnology, Humanities, and other related areas. The Central Library is located on the outer circle of the schools as the background of Tathagat's statue. The library is well equipped with modern facilities, spacious stack halls, 2000-seating capacity reading hall, reference sections, catalogue area, multiple self supporting loaning counters, and is managed by a highly dedicated team of professionals. The Central Library is fully automated library with libsys and RFID systems. Library Collection: The collection of the Library in the area of management, science, technology, engineering, humanities, social sciences, generalia etc. is very strong. The collection comprises mainly with books, theses, reports, current journals, back volumes, specifications, standards, video cassette, CD/DVD databases etc. The collection is heavily used by the faculty, students, alumni members, corporate members, industrial associates, project coordinators, scholars. Apart from the printed resources it provides rich online resources like IEEE, ACM, Springer, Nature, Oxford University Press, Emerald, EBSCO, ECCH online management cases, CMIE (EIS, Prowess) databases and many other e-journals for scholars and students. CENTRAL COMPUTER CENTRE The Central Computer Centre (CCC) caters to the computational needs of the University and provides access to Internet resources as well as telecommunication facilities. The Campus network is carefully planned, keeping options in mind for future expansions. Fiber-optic cabling is used to connect all the major buildings. The campus has also been made Wi-Fi. The CCC has strong IT security infrastructure that protects the university network from outside hackers. Most of the servers are using Open Source platform.

CORPORATE RESOURCE CENTRE Continuous interaction with the industry helps students to build strong relationship with the industry professionals. This also helps students to understand the corporate world better and develop themselves as per the needs of the industry. The Corporate Resource Centre (CRC) at GBU intends to be the face of the University to the Corporate/Industry. It aims to facilitate the process of close Industry-University interactions and actively promote new avenues in experiential learning. The CRC endeavors to bridge the gap between academia and corporate world. It engages leaders, entrepreneurs, executives, and policy makers to address students to facilitate practical learning. The CRC helps students in finding appropriate summer projects and final placements. The CRC involves students strategically for various events, summer and final placements.

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS We are carefully crafting our future which ensures qualitative education and training to students. In our quest for achieving intellectual excellence, we are redrawing the frontiers and spreading our wings in all directions to map the limits of academic excellence. To become a global centre for excellence, we are in the process of formalizing tie ups and mutual accreditations with many universities in UK, France, Finland, Netherlands, Australia, Denmark and USA. To take the initiative of the University further, the government of Uttar Pradesh has introduced special scholarships for students of SC/ST and other economically challenged students of the society enabling 50% of them to meet their expenses for one semester at a university abroad for their travel, stay and course fees. The University is in the process to have tie-ups and mutual accreditations with more than 15 universities in UK, USA, Australia and other major developed European countries. In this regard the University has signed MoUs with the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia, the International Business Academy, Kolding Denmark, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, and Sheffield Hallam University, UK. During the session 2009-10, our students of MBA, School of Management went to Denmark to attend Summer School Programme at the International Business Academy, Kolding, Denmark for one semester to study "The European Management Perspective". In the session 2010-11, our students of MBA, School of Management and M.Tech., School of Information and Communication Technology went to Sheffield Hallam University, UK.

MODE OF SELECTION

City

For MBA programme students will be selected on the basis of written test (GPT-2011) followed by a group discussion and personal interview. For M.Tech. (Engineering/ICT) written test and/or academic record and/or an interview will be the basis for selection. For all other remaining programmes the admission will be based on the performance in the written test only.

Please note 1. The selection to the programme shall be provisional until the candidate furnishes all required documents and testimonials including final results of the qualifying examination. 2. The candidate should have completed all the requirements (theory/practical, and viva- voce) of the award of qualifying examination before the commencement of the session. It is mandatory for all such candidates to submit the final results of the qualifying examination by 30 September 2011. CENTRES FOR ENTRANCE TEST The GPT-2011 and GPTU-2011 will be held at following centres. Candidates are advised to give three choices of test centres. The centre may be cancelled if the required number of students fails to opt for a particular centre in a specific test. Request of any change in the choice for test centre shall not be entertained under any circumstance.

HOW TO APPLY 1. Application Form can be obtained from the Counter at the University by paying in cash/demand draft drawn in favour of The Chairman, Admissions payable at Gautam Budh Nagar of Rs. 200/- for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 100/- for SC/ST candidates. The application form may also be downloaded from the University website (www.gbu.ac.in). Outstation candidates may obtain the application from by post after paying additional Rs. 50/-. 2. Applications are invited only in the prescribed format of the University. Filled in forms should be sent to The Chairman Admissions, Administrative Building, Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, Gautam Budh Nagar201 310 (U.P.) alongwith the application fee as mentioned below: 3. 4. Filled in application forms in all respect should reach the University, by hand or by post latest by 15th March, 2011.

ADMIT CARD 1. Admit card will be sent by post to the each candidate by 20th April, 2011 and list of the candidates alongwith name of the test centre will be displayed on GBU website. If a candidate fails to receive the admit card by stipulated date, he/she may contact examination section latest by 30th April, 2011 on phone or by e-mail. Contact phone no. is 0120-2344234 and e-mail address is admissions@gbu.ac.in. 2. Any plea that a candidate failed to receive the information for appearing in GPT 2011/GPTU-2011 will not be accepted as a ground for the refund of fee or other redressal. Gautam Buddha University may withdraw the permission to appear in GPT-2011/GPTU-2011 granted by mistake/false information to a candidate who is not eligible to appear in mentioned examination even though an Admit Card is issued and produced by the candidate before the concerned Centre superintendent at the examination centre.

RESERVATION The admissions in different programs of GBU are open for all citizens of India- irrespective of class, creed or sex. Reservation for different categories of students belonging to U.P. & other states shall be made as per provisions of Gautam Buddha University Act, as applicable at the time of admission. As per the present status, in each school 23% of the total seats will be reserved for SC/ST candidates and 27% for other backward classes (OBC). Apart from this, horizontal reservation within the category is also applicable which is as follows 1) Dependents of Freedom Fighters Max 2% 2) Dependents of Retired/Handicapped/War Deceased Personnel-Max 5% 3) Physically Handicapped- Max 3% 4) Women- Max 20% EVALUATION AND DECLARATION OF RESULTS The results of GPT 2011 and GPTU-2011 will be declared within 10 days.

3. Since successful candidates are required to produce the admit card at the time of admission, it should be carefully preserved until the admission process is completed. 4. Issuance of admit card doesn't ensure the eligibility of the programme.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR ENTRANCE TEST

1. Read all instructions given in the Information Bulletin carefully.

» USE OF MOBILE PHONE ELECTRONIC CALCULATOR, LOG TABLE, SLIDE RULER IS NOT PERMISSIBLE.

2. Do not staple, pin or stitch your photograph. Paste it firmly in the space provided. Do not get it attested. Photograph in color should be taken with white background preferably wearing dark colored cloths. The approximate size of photograph should be 3.5 cms X 4.5 cm. write your name on the reverse side of photograph. Keep two more copies of similar photograph for future use.

» Candidates should report to the examination hall half an hour before the start of examination. No entry shall be allowed after test starts.

3. Candidates are advised to go through all the points in the application form before mailing/submitting the form. 4. The Gautam Buddha University will not be responsible for any delay in receiving the application form for any reason whatsoever. 5. Candidates seeking advantage of reserved categories must enclose an attested copy of all supporting certificates with the application form. These certificates in original will have to be produced at the time of admission along with one attested copy of each one of them. 6. Write application number in copies of all certificates that you enclose. 7. The result of admission to any of the programme, declared by Gautam Buddha University shall be final and binding. 8. If any document/declaration submitted by the candidate is found to be false at any stage, his/her admission shall be cancelled and he/she may be liable for prosecution under the law. In case of any legal dispute, the jurisdiction will be limited to Gautam Budh Nagar courts only. 9. The candidate must ensure his /her eligibility to appear in the Entrance Examination. 10. If a candidate, who is not eligible to appear in the examination, does so, he/she will not have any claim whatsoever, for admission and permission to appear in GPT 2011 and GPTU 2011. Put your signatures using black/ blue ball point pen only. 11. While filling the form, leave only one black box between consecutive words of the name. Do not write comma or full stop after initials, leave a blank box. 12. The signature of the student at the time of verification in the examination hall and in application form and admit card must be identical. Applications with dissimilar signatures will be treated as incomplete and rejected. 13. The students must keep a photograph of filled in application form and keep it safely till the admission procedure is over.

» Candidates must bring black or blue ball point pen for filling entries in the answer sheet. » Exchange of pen/pencil/ sharpener etc is strictly not allowed in the examination hall. » If the candidate is found in possession of books / any other printed material / any other paper from which he /she might take assistance, he/she is liable to be treated as DISQUALIFIED. Similarly, if the candidate is found giving or obtaining, (or attempting to give or obtain) assistance from any source, he or she is liable to be DISQUALIFIED. » A candidate must preserve his / her admit card until the examination process is over, since it will be required at the time of GD And Personal Interview. » The Duplicate admit card shall be issued to the candidate a day before the entrance test, from 10A.M to 5 PM (but not on the date of examination) at the prescribed examination centre, in the city of exam.

For getting a duplicate admit card student must bring: » Two passport size photographs (Black & white), similar to that pasted on the application form. » Proof of having submitted the application form, indicating its number.
