About LANGUAGES italian mothertongue english fluent portuguese intermediate

I graduated in Architecture magna cum laude in June 2017 after 5 years of studying between Ferrara, Prague and Curitiba. I spent six months in Brasil researching and developing my thesis in architecture and urban design, focusing on the Curitiba’s former industrial district Rebouças. Architecture is not just about the process of designing itself, it includes so many different fields and disciplines, from which is crucial to learn as they can offer different and more efficient solutions. For this reason I’m currently employed at Zimoun Studio in Bern; working in the art and sound field has giving me huge amount of inputs and inspirations, I also learned how to be responsible in managing my everyday’s tasks and how to coordinate myself and others in stressful situations.

1971: the visionary engineer and architect Jamie Lerner becomes Curitiba’s major. His main goal was to build a city that grows and develops depending on its citizens. Thanks to Lerner’s “madness” Curitiba today is worldwide known as the Sustainable City. As a matter of fact, it has implemented several innovative systems to create jobs, improve public transportation accessibility, promote housing development, and improve waste management. The city has integrated a “radial linear-branching pattern” to protect density by diverting traffic from the city center and to protect green areas by encouraging industrial development along radial axes. Curitiba has initiated a Bus Rapid Transit System and established the Curitiba Industrial City (CIC) on the city’s west side which has strict environmental regulations and does not allow “polluting” industries.

Everything sounds very promising, although there are areas like Rebouças, former industrial district, that still don’t fit into the urban ecosystem. Despite its location between the university campuses and the city center, this district lacks most of the basic services and facilities, its inhabitants are marginalised and don’t feel any community sense. The public transportation system is redundant, disorganised and there’s no pedestrian accessibility and permeability whatsoever. Lastly the green infrastructure is inadequate and mostly wild. This thesis develops focusing on these weaknesses, turning them into strengths and opportunities to reconnect Rebouças to the urban fabric in one whole organic system. After a major urban planning and revitalisation, a smaller case study is found in the former Brahma beer factory, the neighbourhoods’ emblem and pumping heart that in the 70’s, due to the Curitiba Industrial City establishment in the suburbs, was abandoned and no regeneration plans were made. Crucial is therefore to reconcile Rebouças’ inhabitants with its industrial heritage and a daily social life. For this Brahma is chosen to become the new Civic Centre not only preserving and integrating the existent architecture, but also being a successful example of “urban acupuncture” where diffused and small interventions can stimulate and regenerate a whole damaged tissue.

the little Bucharest AUTO-CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOP location Agronmie Campus, Bucharest (RO) 2016 project type Timber Structures, multifunctional pavillion tutors Anthony Zgheib Bassem Abi Saad video https://youtu.be/OR-BQvX4BCs

In Bucharest, contrasts can be found everywhere: in architecture, people, attitudes, public spaces, all of these contributing to its identity. The event theme, MEDS Bucharest – “City of Contrasts”, was born from these issues of the city. The challenge was to analyze, study and interact with these contrasting aspects of Bucharest. This project involves the design and construction of an experimental pavilion, adaptable to the needs of its users. The USAMV Campus needed a dedicated space for mobile markets but this pavilion can perform several functions, such as sitting area with free wi- and electricity, exercise area, outdoor classroom, bar, etc . The structure is made out of wood and animated by pieces of furniture created from recycled materials that are placed inside this structure.

pallets patterns COMPETITION location Piazza IV Novembre, Perugia (IT) 2015 project type Timber Structures, temporary stalls team Elena Guidetti Alessia Gregorio

Perugia located in the heart of Italy is one of the main estruscan cities, first born as a small village back in the XI century BC. Perugia is also well-known for its cultural and artistic panorama: the city hosts multiple annual festivals and events, e.g., the Eurochocolate Festival (October), the Umbria Jazz Festival (July), and the International Journalism Festival (in April). Every Christmas a temporary market takes place in the city centre and since it is not the only event requiring stalls, we were required to think about a structure that could be easy to build, cheap, fast and especially customazible. We tought about pallet structure that are easy to find and to assemble in many ways and also perfect for fournishing the city with beches and totems.

twister AUTO-CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOP location Tara National Park, Mitrovac (SRB) 2015 project type Timber Structures, panoramic tower tutors Victor Dachin Diana Neamtu video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI-G2jYgs5s

For two weeks in August we left the city lights behind. Far from contemporary civilisation without shops, neon lights and deafening background noise, we wiped the slate clean and become ‘naked minds’ again. The goal was to find inspiration in traditional work, craftsmanship and nature to realise our own designs. Not to get distracted by the outside world but seeking creativity from within, and from others in this unique group. It’s a meeting of people, nature, material, culture, language and opinion. Twister is a tower built up around a tree, wich can serve as an abservation point, fortress, hiding pace... Thanks to the rough wood we used and the simple building teqniques, our structure blends together with the nature all around.

the infinite cycle AUTO-CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOP location Dáblice, Praha (CZ) 2015 project type Landscape Design, cemetery Intervention professors Vladimír Krátký Luis Marquez

Dáblice is one of the municipal districts in Prague and it’s cemetery was partially designed by Vlastislav Hofman a Czech artist and architect in the XX century. Nowadays culture, religion, demography growt, space constraints and environmental concerns are pushing modern man to explore new options for dealing with the dead. This project is made to blur together with the former cemetery, re-connecting with the existing paths and introducing new open spaces and pavillions that can provide people calm atmosphere to meditate and grief, with no religious discrimination.

palazzo tassoni DESIGN STUDIO location Via della Ghiara 36, Ferrara (IT) 2014 project type Restoration and Architectural Heritage professors Riccardo Dalla Negra Luca Rocchi Rita Fabbri

Palazzo Tassoni is a Renaissance palace in Ferrara, built in the middle XV century and Tassoni’s family house untill 1858. Since that day many activities took place in this building and damaged an historical heritage like Palazzo Tassoni wich was lucklily acquired by Ferrara University in the late ‘90s. Part of this building was restored and now is the new Design department but the other part is still abandoned and spoilt. Our Restoration Studio tryed to theoretically complete this restoration in order to think about a future integration with the university campus.

testing parasite DESIGN STUDIO location ZIP, Padova (IT) 2013 project type Industrial Reuse professors Alessandro Gaiani Giovanni Avosani Elisa Poli magazine https://issuu.com/elenaklimtmajorana/docs/parasite

Zip is the main Padova’s industrial district and due the companies outsourcing, many of the buildings are now empty, expecially after the 2008 economical crisis. This project aims to theoretically regenerate the whole area trough a parasite extended intervention. Our reaserach started analizing problems and listing different parasite solutions and came out as a real catalouge, where can be found different intervention scenarios. Then we choose a site where we could apply our parasite strategy in order to regenerate and bring life back to Zip.

greenhousing DESIGN STUDIO location San Donato, Bologna (IT) 2013 project type Social Housing Commercial professors Riccardo Pedrazzoli Giacomo Minelli Marta Calzolari

San Donato is a Bologna’s northeast district and is mainly dedicated to medium density housing. Recently this neighbourhood became not quite safe and lost many small activities. This lot is currently occupied by a big italian grocery department, wich is maybe too big for its location and as well misintegrated with the urban context. This intervention aims to mantain the grocery shopping vocation of this place choosing a different and greener type of commerce that can also use greenhousing as a chance of bringing new coworking chances and as well to educate people to a new sustainable way of living.
