NOBISKRUG CHALLENGING THE STATUS QUO

I

f you ask anyone on the dock to name one of the most striking superyachts ever built, the likelihood is Sailing Yacht A will repeatedly surface. Delivered in 2017, it remains the largest private sail-assisted motor yacht in the world and arguably the most iconic. At 143m in length and designed inside and out by starchitect Philippe Starck, it is also the poster child for what German shipyard Nobiskrug has become world renowned for – breaking the mold of superyacht build capabilities to achieve what others thought to be impossible. Sailing Yacht A captures the imagination from every angle, with near invisible windows that give the yacht a cocoon-like futuristic appeal. She is as vast as she is unique, from her wave piercing bow to her numerous drop-down balconies and backlit name plate. But aesthetics aside, she is a feat of technological ingenuity with much of her innovation hidden from view. At 12,600 GT she instantly became one of the most impressive PYC superyachts ever built. She houses an underwater observation pod, hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and stateof- the-art navigation systems. Her striking three masts are the tallest and most highly loaded freestanding composite structures in the world – the mainmast towers a whopping 100 meters above the waterline. And her steel hull and superstructure are formed from hightech composite fashion plates, a technology that Nobiskrug has pioneered and developed over the past 15 years. “Born from the owner’s desire to push the boundaries of engineering and challenge the status quo of the industry, Sailing Yacht A is undoubtedly one of the most visionary projects Nobiskrug has ever been involved in,” commented the shipyard at the time of the yacht’s launch.

©Stefano Geraci

©Isabella Puiatti

What Nobiskrug has managed to cement over the course of its 20 years building superyachts is an individuality that few other shipyards can compete with. Since 92.4m Tatoosh, the first superyacht ever built by Nobiskrug (and still one of the most famous), Nobiskrug has focused unwaveringly on realizing owners’ dreams. From this central point, it has carved out a niche in the industry as the go-to yard for highperformance, aesthetically arresting and wholly innovative yachts. And the ground-breaking deliveries just keep on coming.

©Peter Seyfferth

Flanked by a striking glass façade Artefact, which launched in March 2020, makes a bold and radical architectural statement. At a whopping 2,999GT she is the world’s largest 80m yacht in terms of volume. Like many of Nobiskrug’s custom new builds, the owner is just as visionary as the yacht. The entrepreneurial owner of Artefact was intent on building a head-turning superyacht that took inspiration from nature. This aim was realized with a hybrid propulsion system, 23 square meters of solar cells, variable-speed generators and lithium batteries. A dynamic positioning system and wastewater system also help to make the IMO Tier-III compliant yacht as environmentally sympathetic as is currently possible. For Nobiskrug, when it comes to ocean conservation and demonstrating a pioneering practice towards new technology that can help to reduce the harmful effects of yachting, it brings its ‘A’ game every time. One of its most recent initiatives is the collaboration with Yacht Club de Monaco to develop the Superyacht Eco Association (SEA) Index. Launched in September 2020 as part of Planetary Health Week, its aim is to measure the environmental impact of yacht design and use, and in doing so, to become the leading air pollution rating system for yachts.

© Francisco Martinez

The hope is that the Sea Index, which provides transparent ecological ratings for superyachts within propulsion systems, energy recovery chemicals, waste and water, will in time grow to become the global industry standard. It has been developed as a customized online tool that enables industry participants to carry out their own ‘no obligation’ emissions assessment. If their results satisfy the relevant criteria, they will be able to request an audit with a view to obtaining a SEA Flag and a SEA rating. “The next decade will be decisive for the future of our planet,” says Prince Albert II, Prince of Monaco and President of the Yacht Club de Monaco. “Climate change is one of our biggest challenges. In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, the next ten years must focus on oceanography to underpin our scientific knowledge, encourage technical innovation and promote the emergence of new solutions to reverse - we hope - the cycle of decline in ocean health.” For Nobiskrug, the SEA Index represents taking one step closer to achieving what it started long ago – innovation on a grand scale. ©Francisco Martinez

OCEAN INDEPENDENCE THE WORLD OF YACHT CHARTER

T

oday few companies have a real depth of experience matched with an intense passion for what they do, and these are the vital factors that separate international yacht brokerage Ocean Independence from the crowd. Successfully adapting to the challenging and ever-changing travel landscape of the past year, their experienced global team have continued to deliver high-quality, professional and trusted advice on all aspects of yachting. Long seen as the ultimate luxury getaway enjoyed by the rich and famous, yacht charter offers endless options for the perfect vacation. From a family sailing adventure or island-hopping with friends, to a more intimate charter experience on board a classic superyacht, yachting delivers the exclusive opportunity to enjoy unsurpassed flexibility, tailored service, and total seclusion. Therefore, it is little wonder that this form of private, luxury travel has become even more popular given the global health climate of the past year. A yacht charter allows guests to experience water sports, pampering and fine dining, in a totally private environment, negating the need to visit spas, restaurants or public spaces. Add to this a select and dedicated crew who unswervingly follow

strict health protocols, with the same people remaining on board throughout the entire journey. Due to the uncertainty around changing travel rules and quarantine periods, the ability to take one long, amazing vacation on the water has shown massive appeal. Delivering unrivalled flexibility that cannot be achieved at a villa or hotel a private yacht enables multiple destinations to be visited in safety, without the need for extra transport or encountering crowds. Additionally, the itinerary can be adjusted mid-journey should the situation change in a specific location or indeed extended should guests wish to take longer for their trip. Many yacht owners have taken serious measures to upgrade their yachts’ safety standards for future charters. In the Mediterranean, 37m Benetti EDESIA has taken advanced steps to ensure peace of mind for charter guests. UVC sterilizing lights have been installed in some of the air conditioning ducting in order to effectively kill viruses, and a heavy-duty Ozone (03) Generator is used rigidly to sanitize between charters. With a top-level crew who receive daily health checks, and these extra observations, guests can be assured of the utmost protection and care.

Yacht charter has always evoked a unique sense of freedom on the water, but this has become heightened in the last year. While the 2020 summer season certainly brought with it a host of challenges, nothing has been insurmountable, and the complexities of Covid-19 have merely served to emphasize the importance of dealing with an experienced broker. The Ocean Independence team have jumped through many logistical hoops, juggling ever-changing flight itineraries, preparing new flexible booking addendums, addressing limitations on cruising areas and keeping up to date with a variety of evolving health protocols. However, clients have consistently commented that the difficulties in achieving a charter vacation are entirely forgotten the minute they have stepped on board and they have gained a whole new appreciation of charter due to the extra effort to overcome challenges. By nature, yacht crew are fantastic at adapting to changing circumstances, and with the support of local agents on the ground, they have been more determined than ever to satisfy with first class service, reliably delivering outstanding charters. The 65m Amels superyacht SEA RHAPSODY, based in the Seychelles (until mid-April 2021), was the first yacht to be awarded a full and unencumbered Seychelles Charter License since the start of the pandemic. Achieving this exclusive status allows guests arriving by plane to directly join SEA RHAPSODY as a qualified quarantine zone and place of safety, recognized on the Official Tourism List. Negating the need to isolate in a hotel upon arrival until the completion of Covid-19 testing, this removes a time-consuming and somewhat inconvenient element to future vacation plans, thanks to the yacht following exhaustive health protocols. Guests have been able to discover this beautiful yachting haven with added peace of mind whilst traveling on board SEA RHAPSODY.

For those seeking an ultra-indulgent getaway the 168m luxury cruise explorer SCENIC ECLIPSE offers the opportunity to embrace true adventure. Accommodating up to 200 guests in 114 suites, the yacht allows travelers to enjoy every amenity imaginable on board, including a spa, cinema and fitness center, plus locally guided excursions by zodiac, kayak, helicopter or submarine (all carried on board). Currently planning to be in the Mediterranean during summer 2021 and the remote delights of Antarctica for winter 2021/22, SCENIC ECLIPSE is a secure and private platform from which to discover isolated landscapes and diverse wildlife in confidence.

Ocean Independence charter brokers take service one step further by arranging door-todoor private travel throughout the experience for added peace of mind. Exclusively tailored to a client’s requirements, a trusted broker will assist with all aspects associated with chartering such as private cars, helicopter transfers and private jet bookings through dedicated transport channels. Guests can be collected anywhere in the world by a sanitized private car, flown to their destination on a fully treated private jet and, once arrived, step aboard a yacht with all health protocols in place for both vessel and crew. During 2020, private jet travel vastly increased in popularity and became the preferred (and in some cases, only) way to get to and from yacht charter. Equally, the previous trend seen for shorter, multiple charters during a season has migrated to single, longer charters that maximize vacation times without the need for multiple quarantine periods. Feedback shows that the overall charter experience has been valued even more, with guests delighted for the opportunity to travel while limiting risks and, where possible, enjoying less crowded beaches, anchorages, restaurants and ports. Making a definitive lifestyle choice, yacht ownership has also gained interest with clients who have previously only chartered. Bringing a wealth of opportunities, such as the ease of a versatile home-from-home set-up and offering the benefit of your own crew to ensure privacy, security and service, the ability to safeguard loved ones whilst enjoying fun together on your very own yacht is an attractive option. From initial inquiry to the moment you arrive home, you can rely on the knowledge that Ocean Independence will arrange everything exactly as you want. Whether your first or twenty-first charter, creating treasured family moments and handpicked adventures, this extraordinary getaway simply cannot be surpassed. With the exceptional range of comfort, services and amenities to hand, it is no wonder that those who have fallen in love with the world of yachting find it impossible not to return. The wellbeing and safety of our clients and crew are of the utmost importance. We are carefully monitoring the statements issued by both the World Health Organization and national governments to ensure that the latest advice is closely followed. Proud to be one of the largest luxury fullservice yacht brokerage firms in the world, Ocean Independence covers all aspects of owning, chartering, buying, selling, building and managing superyachts. Their experienced international team deliver high-quality, professional and trusted advice every time. MOONEN YACHTS TRUE LEGENDS LAST FOREVER

I

n 2020, Dutch shipyard Moonen Yachts had a very successful year. Selling two superyachts, launching 36m M/Y KOKORO, starting construction on their next 36m Martinique and announcing their newest design concept, the Moonen 110. This has certainly set them up for success for the years to come and with no signs of slowing down. The launch of M/Y KOKORO was a momentous occasion for the shipyard and was celebrated onsite with all

employees in attendance. This was successfully followed by a week of intensive sea trials. M/Y KOKORO has recently been delivered to her new owner in the Middle East. With the backing of Australian investors, Matthew and Louise Baxter, Moonen Yachts now have the ability and freedom to provide clients with superyachts that are already under construction. And so with this, came the announcement that the keel for a fourth 36 meter Martinique - YN201 - had been laid.

“Over the past year we have seen an extraordinary turn around in our business”, says Marianne Hendriks, Managing Director of Moonen Yachts. “We set a goal with the aim to build more yachts on spec and this year we can confidently say that we are well on our way to achieving this. Three yachts will be under construction for Moonen Yachts in 2021 and we will continue looking ahead to the future and operating on a global scale.” Yachts that are built on spec come with a multitude of benefits to prospective owners. One of the most attractive being that delivery time can be far shorter than that of a full custom build. And even with this, the owners are still able to be deeply involved in the design process itself.

MOONEN 110 In December 2020 another exciting moment came about for the shipyard, when they announced their newest design concept, Moonen 110. The 34 meter superyacht has since been declared to be the next yacht built at their shipyard in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, making it the third yacht that the shipyard will have under construction in 2021. A revitalisation of two of their most successful models of the early 2000’s, Moonen Yachts developed Moonen 110 by looking to the Moonen 97 and Moonen 84 in order to update this much loved design. Both of these builds were highly appreciated in their time and so the shipyard set out to select the yachts’ very best features and evolve them into a superyacht that today’s owners would covet. Together with exterior designer René van der Velden and naval architect Diana Yacht Design, Moonen 110 was created. The timeless lines of this Gentleman’s yacht are a tribute to the style and premium quality of yacht that Moonen have become well known for building and will incorporate exceptional performance at sea, comfort, style and the appeal of a true superyacht. Spread over three decks, with ample outdoor living, Moonen 110 has a contemporary design whilst reflecting the elegant and timeless lines of her predecessors. The full beam master

stateroom with en-suite bathroom will be located on the main deck and will enjoy irresistible views over the bow, whilst the full beam VIP stateroom, two guest cabins and crew quarters, will be located on the lower deck. The salon on the main deck will feature an adjoining dining area with floor to ceiling windows, allowing the yacht to be filled with light. Whilst sliding doors leading out onto main deck aft will provide the perfect backdrop for open air entertaining. The combined bridge and sun deck will feature the wheelhouse with panoramic views and a generous sun deck with outdoor seating to the aft. This deck offers ample space to store the tender and the optional addition of a conveniently sized Jacuzzi. Enjoying absolute serenity on board is a must for any superyacht owner, which is why Moonen 110 will have exceptionally low noise and vibration levels. Her shallow draft will take you from the Bahamas to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and will suit those who enjoy escaping to the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Perfectly encapsulating the exclusivity of superyachts, Moonen 110 will be an ideal choice for those who admire and value the style and beauty of a classic yacht.

YN200 - 36 Meter MARTINIQUE Currently in build at Moonen Yachts in the Netherlands is YN200, the shipyards’ third 36 meter Martinique. Featuring exterior design by Dutch designer René van der Velden and naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design, YN200 is proudly owned by an existing client who previously owned a Moonen 84. At the owners wish, YN200 will feature a jacuzzi and an extended sun deck - a great contribution to Moonen’s popular Martinique platform. She will accommodate 10 + 2 guests across one master stateroom and 4 guest staterooms and 7 crew in 4 cabins. The owners are currently working in close cooperation with Studio Indigo to design the interior and she will be delivered to the USA at the end of 2021.

YN201 - 36 Meter MARTINIQUE In November 2020, Moonen Yachts announced that construction of their fourth 36 meter Martinique had officially begun with the keel laying ceremony of YN201 taking place. Ian Vermoen, the project manager of YN201, attended the ceremony and said “It is always an exciting moment when the keel is laid for a new project. This is the starting point of the construction of YN201 and a time of many milestones leading up to when the yacht will take her final shape. The next big milestone will be the joining of the hull and superstructure in July 2021, before the delivery of a beautiful yacht in 2022.”

Designed by René van der Velden and Diana Yacht Design, YN201 is the fourth 36m superyacht to be built on the shipyards Martinique platform. The interior designer will work closely with the new owners throughout the design process to ensure the interior of the yacht meets their needs and wishes. She will be an exquisite example of what the shipyard can achieve with this popular 36m yacht, as she will incorporate all the most loved features of the three Martinique’s that came before her. The 36 meter superyacht is scheduled to be available in Summer 2022 and is now for sale.

MARITIMO AUSTRALIA LUXURY OFFSHORE MOTOR YACHTS

C

rafted by hand in Australia, Maritimo is inspired by a lifelong passion for performance, build integrity and innovative design that stands the test of time. With a heritage steeped in offshore racing, engineering excellence and reliability are paramount. A fine balance of advanced hull design, generous fuel capacities and precision weight distribution results in a smooth, responsive and effortless driving experience, superior seaworthiness and unrivalled performance. Influenced by the Australian lifestyle and beautiful coastlines, admire the space, the light and attention to detail, which combine to create the ultimate sanctuary for enjoyment, relaxation and freedom. Maritimo M55 The new M55 is the latest addition to the iconic flybridge motor yacht series, a series renowned for long range cruising efficiency, build integrity and ocean tested performance, all of which Maritimo’s esteemed legacy has been built upon. “The new M55 long range cruising flybridge motor yacht fuses the latest advancements in motor yacht technology and design with all of the legacy features of the iconic M-Series models past,” said Maritimo Director of Design, Tom Barry-Cotter. The new M55 hull is an advanced evolution of Maritimo’s longstanding experience in

long range cruising design. The variable deadrise hull with deep keel, sharp bow entry and flattened progression aft has been focused on offshore cruising performance, comfort and stability. As with all M-Series models, the foundations of the new M55’s hull design and engineering are centered on direct shaft drive technology. Maritimo have continually developed hull and engineering design specifically for shaft technology, whilst many others switched between the drive system fads of the era. The Maritimo M-Series flybridge motor yacht design has not only integrated all of the iconic M-Series features into the vessel, it has advanced them into an entirely new standard. “Every aspect of the design has been obsessively reflected upon and refined during the design and new product development process, to achieve the functional solutions, comfort, and living spaces we set out to achieve,” said BarryCotter. The M55 has reimagined the idea of a practical deck space with its new adventure deck lower cockpit design. The adventure deck creates an incredible watersports or adventure haven with practical proximity to the water.

Maritimo S55 The new S55 is the latest addition to the esteemed sedan motor yacht series, a series renowned for long range adventuring, offshore cruising, build integrity’ ocean tested stability and performance - features which form the foundation of Maritimo’s motor yacht building ethos. “The new S55 offshore adventuring sedan motor yacht marks the first of an evolutionary design shift to the exterior form and styling within the S-Series sedan motor yacht range,” said Maritimo’s Director of Design Tom Barry-Cotter. “The key practical design features of S-Series models past remain, with an array of exterior form advancements and additional features included. The new S55 hull is an advanced evolution of Maritimo’s longstanding experience in long range cruising design. The variable deadrise hull with deep keel, sharp bow entry and flattened progression aft has been focused on offshore cruising performance, comfort and stability. The foundations of the new S55’s hull design and engineering are centered on direct shaft drive technology. Maritimo

has continually developed hull and engineering design specifically for shaft technology. “Cruising efficiency and ocean proven dependability, are key to the concept of any long range motor yacht, and the S55 new generation hull design is set to be revolutionary in these categories, the neutrally balanced wide beam hull and deep keel combined with low the centre of gravity will also give the S55 rock-like stability, creating the ultimate platform for adventuring, fishing and cruising” said Barry-Cotter. The hull design and engineering are based around an ultra-shallow angle straight shaft drive system which maximizes efficiency, and focuses heavily on reduced draft to enhance versatility and create more cruising and destination options for owners. The Maritimo S-Series sedan motor yacht has long been renowned for catering to a practical single level boating lifestyle. Socializing and entertaining flow seamlessly inside and outside from the upper cockpit to saloon on a singular level.

The S55 has encompassed the successful idea of a practical deck space with its new adventure deck lower cockpit design. The adventure deck creates an incredible watersports or adventure haven with practical proximity to the water. It incorporates the option to be opened with electric actuators to unveil a fully lined 2.8m (9’2”) tender garage with 250kg davit for owners looking to conceal tenders away from the rear platform. The adventure deck lower cockpit can also be integrated with an optional 1.4m (4’6”) extended platform to create a mammoth deck space with endless practical applications. One step up from the lower cockpit, is the upper cockpit alfresco deck space, with easy access to deep walkthrough side decks. The upper cockpit is fully sheltered by the extended hardtop headliner, providing complete cover for the alfresco area. Adding further cover is the option for roll down breezeway or clears which provide complete 360 degree protection for the deck space. The design also conveniently conceals the clears with moulded headliner recesses when stored. The amount of floor space offered in the upper cockpit alfresco deck leads the market in the mid 50 foot category, with standard rear U-shape lounging and dining table and further option of opposing lounging flanking each side of the area.

The horsepower, the touch screens, the patents, the countless hours that have gone into designing and producing the very best coastal sportfishing boat in its class are now at your fingertips. Are you aboard a boat, at the wheel of a high-performance luxury sports car, or inside a private jet? Questions you ask yourself as you tour their models and realize just how different Scout truly is from the competition. Scout’s foundation is comprised of integrity and innovations. They want to make your on-the-water experience like no other, so they are continually developing trend-setting, clever designs that bring a modern, sophisticated edge to your boat. Improved efficiency and performance. Elevated comfort and safety. All creating a heightened status.

Timeless styling and painstaking perfection are fused into every model built. Scout continues to be first-tomarket with their industry-leading innovations and groundbreaking ideas. Scout is a fresh, vibrant company that’s changing the history of boating by bringing you the future of boating. Scout has developed innovative hull designs that are used across their ine-up. As they designed larger LXF’s (luxury center console models 33’ and up), they made a critical decision to introduce cutting-edge Epoxy Infusion and Carbon Epoxy Construction techniques into these highest-performing Scout Stepped Hull models, while simultaneously pairing them with the finest sophisticated blend of appointments and technologies. The S-Class Series was born. S-Class signifies the upper echelon of our line-up - the highest level of luxury - similar to what you experience with high-end luxury automobiles. Simply put, these Epoxy Infusion and Carbon Epoxy Construction processes are industry bar-raising manufacturing processes. Their 33’ and up models utilizing these processes are built like a tank but perform like a jet. These techniques have been used in the aerospace industry for years but have typically been a historically-unpopular process to marine manufacturers for numerous reasons: materials cost, labor skill, and lack of technology to implement, just to name a few. Less than 1% of marine manufacturers utilize these processes.

The hulls of the 330 LXF & 355 LXF are epoxy-infused by attaching multiple feeder lines which are monitored by their skilled craftspeople to inject the exact amount of epoxy necessary into the fiberglass and core; then they are vacuum bag infused (creating the strongest epoxy-to-glass ratio possible), eliminating air pockets and preventing unnecessary excess epoxy. Once fully infused, they are then baked at 135°-140°F for eight hours to post-cure the hull while they’re still secured in the mold. They take this process even further on the hulls of our 380 LXF & 420 LXF, where they use Carbon Fiber/E-Glass as the main material used in the Epoxy Infusion process. The 530 LXF is built using this process on not only the hull, but also the deck, hardtop, and flybridge superstructure. But why use this process in the first place if it’s more expensive? The answer is abundantly clear when you realize the strength-to-weight ratios of the models. They’re second to none.

Our Epoxy Infusion Construction process removes the brittle, excess fat of the resin to create a boat that weighs a little less when compared to other outdated competitor processes, but at the same time provides an even stronger, more stable structure. With a lighter, stronger stepped hull comes higher performance. This is the reason our models consistently out-perform competitive models in their class while being rigged with equal (or even less) horsepower. High performance with increased fuel efficiency and cruising speeds (not to mention cost savings both at the pump as well as the overall cost of owning the boat). Scout has stronger, sexier, faster hulls. The Epoxy Infusion Construction process allows us to create large, stunning hull profiles (even black) while maintaining a “Class-A finish”. The Scout customer family continues to spread across the world. If you’re ready to upgrade and join their growing family…then you’re ready to Discover More.

WORLD CAT CATAMARAN SMOOTHNESS. STABILITY. SPEED.

T

rue to their name, you’ll find World Cat’s on virtually every ocean and lake in the world. Over 80,000 customers across the globe can be found enjoying World Cat catamarans. They’ve chosen their boats because World Cat delivers a smoother, more stable, more enjoyable experience from entertaining at the dock to navigating the deepest waters. Today, World Cat is the largest maker of power catamarans in the world. Located in Tarboro, North Carolina, their boats are precision crafted in a state-of-the-art 140,000 square foot facility.

While building an array of boats in different sizes and configurations, each is a reflection of their mission is to deliver the smoothest ride on water – making boating more enjoyable and giving boaters the comfort and confidence to cruise, fish, dive, and explore the water world around them. From the South Pacific to Siberia, World Cats have safely carried thousands of boaters over tens of thousands of miles. Shouldn’t you share in that experience? If you’re a boater, you know about the pounding, slapping, exhausting ride that a monohull boat subjects you to. But, with a World Cat power catamaran, you get a smoother, more stable ride. That means no more physical abuse – for you or your family and friends. You can stay on the water longer, and go farther. You’ll come back with more energy, and fewer bruises. And, along with that comfort, you’ll have the confidence to head out in conditions that keep other boaters at shore.

Most new models start in the R&D department. But the 400 Series began with an ideal...to design and develop the most sophisticated and customizable catamaran models on the market. A catamaran model that surrounds you with a yacht-like feel with lush appointments, expansive room, and infused with technology. With an initial $3 million investment, they set out to create the perfect catamaran, one that would not only meet their World Cat standards, but also one that would exceed the customer’s standards by offering a customizable model. The ability to choose your soft goods and fabric, choose your hard-surface materials, your colors, and even choose the perfect set up for your boating experience with customized configurations. Why invest in creating a highly customizable model? Because these custom configurations provide the ability to adapt to each owner’s specific needs. For instance, there are 12 different transom configurations common to all three models in the Custom Yacht Division resulting in 36 different versions of the 400’s ranging from a luxurious cruising dual console with enclosed head and separate stateroom to a true offshore center console with sleigh seating and a sporty upper station. Whether you’re looking for a 60-gallon live well, chiller box, bait rigging station, dive tank storage or additional seating, there is a combination that fits any owner’s usage. If a crew wants to dive, cruise, fish or just spend a leisurely day out on the water, there is a design that can fit any need.

CASTLEROCK CARBON CAT BUILT WITH CONVICTION

T

he world of rigid bottom inflatable boats is entering an exciting new era with the release of the highly innovative Castlerock Carbon Cat. Australian designed and New Zealand built, the Castlerock Carbon Cat is the brainchild of Dan Oatley, a member of one of Australia’s most well known boating families. Dan is no newcomer to the world of boats, large and small. After being on the water in small sailing dinghies and runabouts as a youngster he went on to be one of the youngest commercial mariners. Dan’s maritime studies started with his recreational boat licence when he was 12 years old moving onto completing the highest Captains qualification, an Unrestricted Ship Masters. During his time as a seafarer, he has sailed as a Navigation Officer aboard the 152,000 tonne cruise Liner, Queen Mary 2. He has also

been the master of Superyachts, crossed the Atlantic 14 times and cruised to the North Pole. Dan has sailed in the last three Sydney to Hobart yacht races aboard his late grandfather, Bob Oatley’s recordbreaking SUPER MAXI, Wild Oats X1. He steered the yacht across the finish line to Win the 2018 race. “High-performance RIBs have always appealed to me,” Dan said. “I’ve seen plenty of them during my travels, and I can say there is nothing like the Castlerock Carbon Cat. It is a highly efficient design that is as easy to handle at high speed as it is at its cruising speed.” Constructed from and Hypalon, the Castlerock Carbon being described as RIBs.”

carbon fiber 5.3-meter-long Cat is already “the Ferrari of

“I set out to design and build the high speed, stable and visually appealing RIB and I’m certain that target has been achieved”, Dan Oatley said.

“This is due primarily to the hydrodynamic and aerodynamic features that I have been able to incorporate in design, along with the benefits that come with carbon fibre construction. This boat ticks every box in its category when it comes to recreational boating.” Powered by a Mercury four-stroke 115hp Pro XS outboard, the Castlerock Carbon Cat cruises comfortably at 45 knots and has a top speed of 60 knots. Some of the most honorable features of the boat are the attention to detail, the craftsmanship and its seaworthiness. Not only does the Carbon Cat incorporate racing yacht features, its innovative tunnel hull design is very stable at high speeds due to the custom hull profile that maximizes the aerodynamic lift while reducing hydrodynamic forces. Perfect for recreational boating, spearfishing, towing water sports and racing. www.CastleRockCarbon.com @CastleRockCarbonCat

PRESENTS THE VIKING YACHTS 72’ SPORTFISHING LINEUP

T

he Viking Yachts lineup of 72’ sportfishing yachts was the result of Viking leadership taking the iconic 70’ model and, as Viking does, making it even better.

both worlds – the 360-degree visibility of an open elevated control station and the weather protection and comfort of an enclosed bridge (which also acts as a second salon).

The 72’ Convertible and 72’ Enclosed Bridge models quickly became beloved for their power, purpose, poise, and precision, offering the best of a luxury cruising yacht and blue water sportfishing beast.

The balanced proportions are aesthetically pleasing, with the hull, deckhouse, enclosed bridge, and sky bridge melding seamlessly together.

Never content, Viking took a page from their 92’ and 80’ Sky Bridge models, packaging up all the luxury and performance into the 72’ hull, creating the 72’ Sky Bridge and rounding out the versatile 72’ sportfishing yacht lineup. With a versatile design that pleases both fishing fanatics and cruising connoisseurs, it’s no wonder the popularity of sky bridge models is growing. As Viking prepares for the launch of their latest Sky Bridge sportfishing yacht model, we take a quick peek at the new 72’ and her Convertible and Enclosed Bridge sisters. Sky Bridge The Sky Bridge gives owners the best of

Like the open bridges on all of Viking’s convertibles, the Sky Bridge sports a fully equipped walkaround center console with raised teak helm pod, recessed and protected areas for multi-function displays, engine and steering controls, and electronics controllers, and generous seating for guests. Featuring 4 cabins and 5 heads, the 72’ Sky Bridge offers plenty of luxurious space for guests. Her dual MTU 2635 hp engines provide plenty of power, the standard Seakeeper keeps things calm, and the resin-infused hull — built with balsa and foam cores and carbon and E-glass hybrid fiberglass laminates — offers the perfect strength-to-weight ratio. When the action hits, the fully loaded 209 square foot cockpit ensures you’re ready for the action.

Convertible For those who want to feel the sea air surrounding them, fully immersed in nature, the 72’ Convertible is an easy choice. The standard Open Bridge accommodations layout includes four staterooms each with a private head, a J-shaped sofa in the salon, a U-shaped galley with custom granite countertops, crown molding on upper cabinetry, a large walkin pantry forward, and a queen berth in the forward stateroom. An optional layout also offers crossover berths in the forward stateroom. The day head is standard. Enclosed Bridge The standard Enclosed Bridge salon mirrors the Open Bridge plan with the addition of a circular staircase to the enclosed bridge helm, which serves as a second salon with an L-shaped sofa, a cocktail table, refrigeration, and an entertainment center. An open galley, an L-shaped sofa, and crossover berths in the forward stateroom layout also are available. The day head is also standard on the Enclosed Bridge version. Viking’s world-class design and engineering are on full display here with the hull, as it has been opened up into more of a V formation, which extended the beam to create more interior space.

All three models in the Viking 72’ sportfishing yacht lineup offer beautifully finished and inviting interiors with plenty of space for rest and relaxation, as well as plenty of storage throughout. The large salon and galley areas feature classic American walnut wood work (which also runs throughout the boat) and comfortable seating for 6. The home-away-from-home interior atmosphere is the result of the J-shaped sofa in the salon, a U-shaped galley with custom granite countertops, crown molding on upper cabinetry, and a large walk-in pantry. The entire 72’ lineup features spacious 209-square-foot teak cockpits suitable for multiple anglers to have plenty of elbow room, plus a teak mezzanine deck for relaxing or catching all the action. Four staterooms provide guests with plush overnight accommodations and each comes standard with a private head. Spacious crew quarters with private head ensure utmost in privacy for guests. The base engine option on each 72’ are dual powerful and capable MAN / V12 1550CRM 1550 MHP models. If more power is desired, Viking offers the MTU Series 2000 / V16 M96L 2635 MHP option, which will top out at over 45 knots. The 72’ Viking sportfishing line reveals ground-breaking achievements in boat building, offering the best in performance, style, quality construction, and entertainment possibilities. OCEANCO BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE

O

ceanco has built a name for itself when it comes to innovation and sustainability in yachting.

Recent times have given the world an opportunity to pause and take stock, to reflect on the essence of those companies that we are connected to, and to pay attention to the direction in which they are heading. For many thought-leading organizations, including Oceanco, having a conscious and authentic purpose has been a longstanding part of their DNA. Before they were buzzwords, the two central pillars of innovation and sustainability became a fundamental part of Oceanco’s ethos, connecting its diverse fleet of award-winning superyachts. In the last two years alone, four remarkable vessels have put Oceanco at the spearhead of meaningful innovation in the yachting world. Each with their own distinctive styles and attributes, DAR, Bravo Eugenia, DreAMBoat and Black Pearl are confirmation that Oceanco’s efforts to push the boundaries of technology, innovation and sustainability in yachting are paying off. “As a builder, we always keep in mind that innovation should never be pursued for the sake of it; innovation should always add benefit to the owner,” comments

Marcel Onkenhout, Oceanco’s CEO. “At Oceanco, one size does not fit all. Our yachts are recognized for their high specifications, the build process and the depth of design. Not to mention the sustainability credentials. We may not be the right match for everyone, but for those who come to us with ambitions that go beyond the yachts of now, we feel the chemistry and the results can be off the scale,” adds Marketing Director Paris Baloumis . And innovation at Oceanco is not restricted to the yachts alone. Understanding the importance of building a better future for generations to come, Oceanco takes an all-embracing approach to sustainability at its stateof-the-art facilities, with cutting-edge efficient heated flooring systems, humidity controls and ground-source heat pumps, among other measures. Furthermore, Oceanco unveiled its vision for future demands by reflecting across industries, with the ultimate goal of zero impact on the environment. Oceanco NXT brings together a cohort of luminaries in the yachting, technology and design worlds to marry innovation and sustainability in an authentic and meaningful way that will transform how we spend time on superyachts.

90m DAR: A Reflection of Innovation Delivered to her owner in 2018, DAR’s revolutionary contemporary exterior is perhaps her most outstanding feature, in particular the extraordinary and prolific use of glass as a way to draw in the surroundings for those on board, while maintaining their privacy. The most challenging aspect of DAR’s construction, the upper decks are enclosed by almost 400 square meters of reflective glass that is glued directly to the superstructure with no use of mechanical fasteners, requiring a high level of precision and capabilities to withstand forces created by the motions of the yacht when it is underway. The result is a stunning continuous surface stretching from the main deck to the sun deck, delivering unimpeded floor-to-ceiling views throughout.

106.7m Sailing Yacht Black Pearl: The Gold Standard in Sustainable Yachting As the world’s largest and most ecological sailing yacht of its kind, the 106.7-meter Black Pearl is unlike any other yacht on the planet. With a highly passionate and engaged owner – whose engineering background inspired a desire to advance innovative technology used on luxury yachts – her sustainability credentials were paramount. Every possible detail has been considered on Black Pearl to minimize ecological impact, from technical areas to crew operations. The yacht’s success is testament to the great results that can stem from a positive builderowner relationship. “On Black Pearl, the owner drove all parties, including himself, to new heights,” says Maria Ionoshkina, client’s press officer. “We adopted new technologies for first-time use on a luxury yacht, working with suppliers for solar, hydrogen, regeneration systems, insulation and more. Her waste heat recovery system allows for further gains in overall energy efficiency, too.”

109m Bravo Eugenia: LIFE-Changing Design and Technology Bravo Eugenia is Oceanco’s first superyacht to make use of the LIFE Design concept – standing for Lengthened, Innovative, Fuel efficient and Eco-friendly – developed in collaboration with Lateral Naval Architects. She is a radical 109-meter motor yacht that features best-inclass hydrodynamic efficiency and an optimized hybrid propulsion system that uses the latest energy-saving technologies, resulting in truly ecoconscious credentials.

By focusing on a fundamental principle of hydrodynamics, the team maximized the yacht’s waterline length in order to diminish requirement for propulsion power, and consequently reduced size of engine and related equipment needed. This positive feedback loop or “virtuous circle” means Bravo Eugenia’s engine room is on a single level (rarely seen on a yacht of this length), allowing an additional 100 square meters of prime space to be allocated to guests on the highly desirable waterline level. Combined with cutting-edge heat and energy recovery systems, responsive integrated batteries for continuous optimal operation and a refined hybrid propulsion system, Bravo Eugenia boasts a reduction in fuel usage of up to 30 percent compared to conventional superyachts of the same length.

90mt DreAMBoat: A Vision of Modern Yachting With the understated, classically elegant 90-meter DreAMBoat, in 2019 Oceanco proved that innovation and sustainability can still be achieved on a family-friendly motor yacht that comes with all the comforts and facilities imaginable. Alongside state-of-the-art technology, she features an exhaustive array of lifestyle attributes, including a stunning six-meter swimming pool on the sundeck, a private Jacuzzi on the owner’s deck, and a spa on the bridge deck aft with a custom-built hydrotherapy massage bath. Her extensive, well-connected exterior decks – including one of the largest sundecks in her class – are the perfect setting for endless family fun, while her interior is flooded with

light through enormous windows that give unrestricted views of the stunning, everchanging surroundings. “We are extremely proud of what has been accomplished through the realization of these landmark projects, they each represent the very best of what can be achieved with a forward-thinking approach to modern yacht building.,” concludes Onkenhout. “By continuing to spotlight meaningful innovation and sustainability, while working with passionate owners, co-makers and across industry experts the sky’s the limit on what we can achieve together.” Leading the change because the future is now. Tomorrow’s superyachts today!

LIAIGRE A CELEBRATION OF THE SEA

Y

achting is an architectural challenge where the Liaigre style is pertinent, preserving a perfect balance between efficiency and elegance. Reflection consists of finding solutions but also bringing about a style of life, a question that Guillaume Rolland, Principal and Head of Yacht Design at Studio Liaigre, doesn’t stop exploring from one project to the next. In the yachting world, as elsewhere, the Liaigre signature is synonymous with the highest level of skill, refinement of materials, manufacturing, craftsmanship and finishes. Guillaume Rolland, studied at the Paris Beaux Arts School and graduated with a degree in Architecture and Fine Arts in 1995. Prior to joining Christian Liaigre’s team as the principal in charge of the design studio and involved in all projects both residential and commercial developed within the studio since 2002, Rolland worked for Philippe Starck. Rolland is an active sailor. He has been cruising and sailing since his early childhood and races an Olympic keelboat all year round. Rolland is now in charge of Liaigre’s yacht design division where his knowledge of the yachting world has allowed him to lead various yacht projects, contributing the to the notoriety of Liaigre’s global signature style.

For yachting-lover Rolland, outfitting a boat presents challenges that require specific solutions, namely, how to accent the ship’s lines and design with spaces that are practical, beautiful, and comfortable and that express Liaigre’s signature lifestyle—all while retaining the heart and soul of the ship. Universally, architecture, lines, balance, composition, flow, geometry and light are the drivers of a good project. Referring to the design process, Rolland talks about the “paradox of the boat”, the apparent contradiction between the harshness of the elements and the fluidity of the lines.

Designing and fitting the interior of a boat is a very specific task which implements a whole other vocabulary, with ergonomics which do not allow sharp angles, and which force the body into contact with walls far more often than on land. The development of a boat is a challenge that leads to specific responses. In these responses, and the relationships formed around a project, a story unfolds that is unique to each design and the personalities of their owners. Unquestionably, Liaigre, delivers each boat as a celebration of the sea. www.Liaigre.com

OIL NUT BAY A LUXURY LAUNCH PAD TO THE BVI

T

he British Virgin Islands have long sent a siren song to salty seafarers both near and far. The area’s spectacular innate beauty, it’s even-tempered weather and easygoing, undulating ocean paint a picture that is pretty much impossible to fault. Scatter this canvas with emerald islands, white sand beaches, tropical sunlight and the everpresent trade winds and you have the destination that dreams are made of. The aforementioned trade winds blow at varying strengths year round, moderating the tropical rainforest climate and resulting in temperate ocean and air temperatures ten months of the year. The BVI certainly deserves its title as the boating capital of the world. Carefree Cruising Aptly named after the epic adventurer, the Sir Francis Drake Channel runs the length of the British Virgin Islands and offers no end of protected passages in and around Tortola, Virgin Gorda and the neighboring islands. This makes boating in the BVI not only breathtakingly beautiful, but also exceptionally safe for both seasoned sailors and absolute beginners. The proximity of one island to the next means tomorrow’s anchorage is always in plain sight, making for carefree cruising from one blissful spot to the next. The islands, with the exception of coral- and limestoneformed Anegada, were once part of a submerged mountain range created through volcanic activity, so are dramatic and diverse in their topography. Unlike many comparable tropical destinations, the islands under British jurisdiction are neither overcrowded nor commercialized. In fact, of the 60 islands, cays and rocks that form the archipelago, only 15 or so are inhabited. The BVI offers not only beaches but rainforest, salt ponds, mangroves and miles of coral reef to explore. The entire area is peppered with stunning, secret spots, and the voyage to locate them is just as delightful as the discovery.

A Heavenly Home Base While there are few Caribbean getaways that capture the essence of the islands better than a week aboard a charter yacht, the salt life is not for everyone. Though many of us still crave the wild wind in our hair, sharing a head is a hard pass, we want a truly dry towel after a truly hot shower, and a bed with a pocket-sprung mattress. And in that there is no shame. A boating vacation, to our minds, can mean buzzing from one tropical highlight to the next, spending all day island hopping and exploring, then returning to home base where an in-suite massage, delectable dining experience and king bed await. Spread across 400 consciouslypreserved acres on the northeasterly tip of Virgin Gorda rests an opulent home base from which to adventure. Accessible only by boat or helicopter, Oil Nut Bay is a luxury, multi-generational community like no other. The property offers a collection of secluded villas and suites, each with their own private kitchen, laundry, swimming pool, and lushly landscaped grounds, as well as the option of full concierge, personal chef, housekeeping and butler services. Resort amenities are first-class. LÜRSSEN MADSUMMER

M

adsummer is a bold, joyous expression of her owner’s love of yachting. From her beautiful sweeping exterior curves penned by Eidsgaard Design to her colorful and personality-filled interior by Laura Sessa, Madsummer is a home from home for an owner who isn’t afraid to stand out from the crowd. The 95-metER superyacht is a first collaborative effort for Eidsgaard Design and Lürssen and proved a very successful partnership, with the yacht being delivered ahead of schedule. On the inside, however, it was to be a meeting of old friends, with Laura Sessa and the owner having worked together on projects spanning the last 15 years. Peter Lürssen comments: “The owner’s brief was demanding, however, we believe our engineering expertise has surpassed his wishes to own a yacht that many years from now will be timeless and yet still ahead of its time. Our thanks go, of course, to good design and communications with the designers of the exterior, Harrison Eidsgaard and Laura Sessa respectively for the interior as well as to Moran Yacht & Ship and the owner’s captain who supervised the build on behalf of the owner.” The interior of Madsummer is suffused with bright reds, whites and, most extensively, blues. The brief from the owner was to incorporate colors and textures in a way that was both stylish and contemporary but also homely and personal. Throughout the yacht, moments of fun and levity complement the décor, allowing the spaces to be beautiful without pretension.

The main salon is a prime example of this patriotic tribute to color, with an impossibly soft royal blue silk carpet. A captivating raised geometric pattern on the walls, made from dark mutenye wood, cleverly disguises the handles to the storage spaces behind. To port, a bespoke dining table for 14 catches the eye: layers of colored lacquer are concealed beneath a white layer which is scored off in circular patterns to reveal the colors beneath, forming a unique and contemporary talking piece. On the wall, a piece of art depicting an important date to the owner reflects the personal element of the brief. Pale Oregon pine elements and ceilings with straw details lighten the space. To starboard, a comfortable sofa completes the room. A stylish lift carries guests across four floors from the main deck to the sundeck, while a staircase with white leather steps surrounded by a dark Mutenye border encircles the lift.

In the upper deck salon a stunning bar in backlit white alabaster with deep blue stripes immediately draws the eye. This is a mature, grownup space, as confirmed by the white Steinway and Sons grand piano in the corner. On the port side, comfortable sofas surround two custom coffee tables. One of the objectives of the brief was to create central guest spaces that would form the heart of the yacht and be easy to move between. The upper aft deck is one of these key areas and is home to the informal exterior dining space as well as the large ethanol-driven fire pit. Glass windbreakers slide in to position along the side decks to provide respite from the elements, a key request from the owner. Next to the dining table is a sizeable Teppanyaki bar. The bridge deck is home to the bridge forward and the master suite aft. Inside the master suite the brief to include colors and textures has been stepped up a gear and the space explodes into a kaleidoscope of warmth and personality. The wall panelling in white tinted oak finished with a clear blue luminous resin gives the space a stylish, futuristic feel. To port and starboard are two corridors of his-and-hers dressing rooms with spy mirror wardrobe doors. At the end of the central hallway to the cabin a large work of art in bright red makes an impressive impact. On the port side, her bathroom is a feminine, clean space, with a stunning white quartzite light-reflecting floor and geometric inlay work in stainless steel. Among the aesthetic details there are practical considerations too, such as a refrigerator for beauty creams. To starboard is his bathroom, where a dark Travertine marble gives the space a masculine energy, with bold details in brushed painted teak. A huge shower is reminiscent of that of an opulent spa.

FEADSHIP PROJECT 3073 SLEEK, SPEEDY, AND STATE OF THE ART

F

eadship only builds fully custom superyachts so each new creation launched from its four yards in the Netherlands is bound to be unique. Being so bespoke, all projects are the culmination of a long gestation period in the minds of the owners before they sit down with the experts at Feadship to start translating smart ideas into concrete form. While this process usually moves on to the next stage of construction, that’s not always the case. Very occasionally minds or personal circumstances change; over the years this has given Feadship a databank of unfulfilled potential in which huge investments had already been made in terms of time, money and brainpower in the designs and their underlying naval architecture and engineering. The Feadship Unveils series unlocked the archives on a few of these well-developed explorations and Project 3073 is an exceptional example. As you can see from these striking images, this seriously elegant all-aluminum 63-meter yacht exudes speed and length. “The first meeting we had with the client was at one of the top boat shows six or seven years ago,” remembers Feadship director Henk de Vries. “He was a big fan of fastlooking motoryachts and keen to discuss how a Feadship ‘sports-boat’ might look like. Things swiftly progressed and during the initial design phase – which always starts with a blank piece of paper at Feadship – the boat grew from the original 60 meters to around 63 meters. This extended length added to the cool feel on what would be a powerful shallow-draught yacht.” Feadship’s head of design Tanno Weeda also recalls enjoying brainstorming with the client on the project. “Together we drew a very characteristic look & feel, including a strong horizontal line that creates the base of the yacht and accentuates the design’s speed and length. Another fascinating feature that adds a very strong visual element to the exterior profile is the giant swimming big pool on the foredeck. Having such a giant expanse of water on board means you have to take sloshing into account and this is just one of many pioneering projects that Feadship’s in-house R&D department are working to optimize.”

With its glass bottom forming part of the ceiling of the owner’s deck below, the pool would have an enormous impact on the interior ambiance too should a variant on Project 3073 be built in the future. The light radiating through onto the master stateroom will generate a spectacular and constantly evolving environment. Visual impact was also the purpose behind the proposed open connection between the bridge deck wheelhouse and main deck saloon, another visionary idea that deserves to move from rendering to reality. Project 3073 went beyond offering a fresh take on how an exceptionally swift Feadship might look like. Significant development work went into ensuring she would be able to achieve speeds of up to 30 knots via a state-of-the-art propulsion system. The proposed solution was to deploy water jets underneath the boat rather than propellers, the benefits of which would be boosted by giving the yacht a very shallow draught (there are not many 300-footers in the global able to cruise in several feet of water in the way this beauty would). For those of a more environmental mindset, this design would also be highly suitable for an ultra-efficient electric propulsion equivalent that would still be able to race along at 20-plus knots. Feadship has incorporated sustainability as a core tenant of its overall strategy and has been working with clients on all kinds green power alternatives to traditional diesel engines since launching the 84-meter Savannah in 2015, the world’s first hybrid luxury motoryacht. Things have moved quickly since then and around half of all Feadships have some kind of hybrid propulsion set up, saving on emissions and running hours when sailing as well as fuel. Building Project 3073 fully in aluminum would be a great start to creating a new benchmark in eco-conscious cruising.

GRADY-WHITE BOATS CANYON 376

K

nown as one of the most exceptional saltwater boat manufacturers in the world, Grady-White’s 37-foot center console, the Canyon 376, is the leader in this center console category. Offering the ultimate in abundant fishing amenities and in luxurious comfort, you get much more than what you typically expect from other center consoles. Grady-White’s Canyon Series was the start of a new breed of center console boats and remains a star today. This massive sportfisher not only offers unmatched offshore fishing functionality and the 360º access of traditional center consoles, but also has a wide beam, roomy console interior with the ultra-comfortable details, modern features, and luxury accommodations you might expect in a cabin- style, family-oriented boat. Top it off with impeccable fit and finish, all riding on Grady’s unparalleled exclusive SeaV²® hull, and you’ve got a boat that is the innovative leader in its class. The 376 gets the captain’s attention the moment he steps to the helm. The T-top enclosure integrates Grady’s exemplary sightline visibility and remarkable protection for the three plush horizontally adjustable, contoured, Command Elite helm chairs with deluxe cushioning and flip-up bolsters – so everyone is comfortable on the ride to the fishing grounds. The T-top, with painted aluminum frame, offers a large ventilation hatch, a mammoth radio box, outrigger plates, tri-colored LED recessed lights, stereo speakers and winged curtains. There are two air conditioning vents at the helm providing cooling comfort on the hottest days. The electromechanically-operated electronics enclosure is adjustable to suit any helmsman’s viewing height, or weather conditions and time of day. This configuration offers space for mounting two large screens with complete protection for them when the enclosure is lowered. Navigation is further enhanced with Yamaha’s Helm Master EX® with Full Maneuverability – a standard feature on this boat!

A fishing dream come true, the 376 can carry up to 38 rods in multiple areas, including lockable vertical rod holders in the console. The deluxe lean bar incorporates a 41-gallon livewell with see through lid, light and full column distribution inlet and overboard drain; a rigging station with freshwater sink; a 164-quart cooler; holders for knife, pliers and lures; and lockable bulk and tackle tray storage. Add to that a 263-quart fish box in the cockpit, which you can equip with the optional digital control refrigerator/freezer, and two in the bow that total more than 500 quarts, and you’ve got all the room needed for refreshments, equipment and the days catch! The magnificent layout, suitable for both hard core fishing and relaxing with friends and family, starts at the bow anchor locker, with dual controls at the helm and the windlass area, and extends through the 13’-wide beam. The cockpit incudes two heavy-duty doors, one at the transom and one on the cockpit portside, each complete with boarding ladders. Both are wide enough to pull aboard a 350-pound big eye tuna and are perfect for diving and swimming. The transom accommodates up to three Yamaha 425s allowing the 376 to produce speeds up to 60-plus mph. This boat not only eats up the ocean but also looks phenomenal as it performs! Step down the cherry stairs leading inside the lockable air-conditioned console and you’ll quickly see more reasons why Grady-White calls this boat a top-of-the-line center console, great for both family and fishing. The cabin-like interior not only features a roomy stand-up shower area with curtain along with a Vacu-Flush® head, but also a galley with Corian® countertops and nice deep stainless sink, plus a stainless refrigerator and microwave. An unusually large berth offers plenty of room for two and extends forward, with storage along the side, providing ample space for those tired after a long day of fishing or for an overnight excursion. A tinted rounded skylight, indirect lighting and the additional side window makes the space airy and open feeling. Access to the switch box and boat systems controls is right inside the console door. The standard FisherPanda 5KW diesel generator makes overnight trips a pleasure!

Super comfortable and luxurious, seating beyond the helm on the 376 can be both opulent and functional, making it superb for cruising, but easily tucked away to provide extra space for fishing, like the aft foldaway bench seat with cushion. In the cockpit, the rigging station and sink can be repurposed with the optional electric grill for more versatility. Add the optional Sureshade® to give your cockpit even more lounging comfort. This exceptional cross-over design is particularly prominent in the bow, where an optional table insert converts the easy-to-fish area into a roomy picnic spot or add cushions to create a sun-and-fun area for those family days and weekends inshore. Grady’s patented foldaway bolstered backrests are another bow seating addition that makes this center console boat both passenger and fishing friendly. Add the optional Easy Bow Shade, and you’ve created another complete relaxing and entertainment area for your guests. The 376 is a center console boat that offers all the comfort of a ‘familyfun’ cabin boat without sacrificing an ounce of fishing function. One sea trial will confirm this boat is a perfect combination of Grady-White’s more than 60-years of experience, thousands of fishing trips, and hundreds of hours listening to customers boating wants and needs. Founded in 1959, Grady-White builds 26 boat models from 18 to 45 feet at its factory in Greenville, North Carolina. GradyWhite Boats has earned the respect, appreciation, and praise from multiple generations of happy customers. This is evident by their ranking the highest in every objective measure of excellence in customer satisfaction ever done in the marine industry, including every J.D. Power and Associates marine study and 18 consecutive National Marine Manufacturers Association Customer Satisfaction Index Awards.

TANKOA YACHTS 50M BINTADOR

B

ased on a similar design to Vertige, the first in Tankoa’s 50-meter series, Bintador differs from her predecessor in 5 key aspects: Tankoa S501 hull #2 is powered by a hybrid propulsion package. She has a 5-cabin layout with a main deck owner’s suite and four guest cabins on the lower deck. The owner’s galley is on the main deck and the crew galley is on the lower deck. Her foredeck features a touch-and-go helipad and storage for 5 e-bikes Tender and jet-sky are stowed on the deck, the project has been developed together with the owner. Bintador has recently won the Boat International World Superyacht Award in the category of displacement motor yachts below 499GT. The yacht is powered by twin MTU 8V4000M54 (895kW) engines and two 300kW e-motors fed by two 250kW variable speed generators. The dynamic and contemporary exterior design by Francesco Paszkowski features large and comfortable outdoor entertainment spaces on each deck and (unlike Vertige) a touch-and-go helipad.

“Bintador is the result of a perfect teamwork between the boatyard, the owner and our studio,” says Paszkowski. “The owner immediately liked the proposals we presented after a couple of meetings with him. From that starting point we worked together to meet his personal requests. He liked to be involved in the whole process and watch the project develop step by step. For a designer there’s nothing better than working with an informed and involved owner as it helps us arrive at the final result more quickly.” Fold-out side balconies off the salon on the main deck add extra floor space to the openair aft deck with oversized sun bed, U-shaped sofa, coffee tables and bar unit. “This area looks like a raised beach club with wonderful sea views and a forward balcony on the starboard side for the exclusive use of the owner,” says Paszkowski. “The bow shape is another special feature of the yacht that increases the volume to provide storage forward for the tender. Finally, the transom folds out to create a wide swim platform, enhancing the beach club area.”

The upper deck has been designed around spacious entertainment areas for relaxation with a dining table and access to the sky lounge. The foredeck includes a solarium and open-air lounge, all designed to offer maximum privacy. The fly deck provides ample spaces and comfort with sofas, sun-beds, chaise longue, up & down tables, bar and a generous Jacuzzi. The lower deck provides accommodation for eight in two VIP cabins and two guest cabins, as well as the beach club with gym and spa. The interior design by Francesco Paszkowski in collaboration with Magherita Casprini combines light and modern tones with an abundance of natural materials, ranging from brushed sandblasted oak, marble and glass to saddle leather and soft fabrics. Harmony and continuity of style are key interior concepts. “The owner wanted a cosy and welcoming interior, timeless and understated,” says Paszkowski. “He was very clear about what he liked, but he also gave us a lot of freedom to come up with proposals.”

The combination of colors is an important part of the design on board. Bright and darker tones create a balanced sequence from ivory for the ceilings, sand for the sofas and dove-grey for the leather of the staircase steps in the lobby to light bronze for the sofa bases, honey Botticino marble in the bathrooms and golden glass for the bedside cabinets. These tones are balanced with neutral smoke for the glass of the shower doors, glossy grey for the Persian marble in the shower stalls, and dark grey for the leather pouf in the main salon and the base of the coffee tables on the upper deck. Well known Italian brands have been selected for the fixtures and fittings, such as Minotti for sofas, chairs and armchairs or Giorgetti for the armchair in the owner’s suite. Custom-made furniture include the dining table, the pouf under the vanity in the master bathroom, the owner’s desk, the bed base and the low curved furniture on both sides of the entrance on the main deck.

NEW PERSHING 140 THE BIGGEST THRILL IN PERSHING’S HISTORY

T

he ultimate expression of the Pershing thrill. The Pershing 140 is not only Pershing’s first all-aluminum superyacht. It is also the first yacht with a raised helm station directly connected to the sun deck. It is the first to set the area dedicated to the owner on the main deck and is also the first to have a beach area that can open fully on three sides. The profile of the Pershing 140 displays the sleek lines that symbolize the brand’s sporting, competitive spirit, enhanced by such iconic details as the two side wings integrated into the superstructure at the beginning of the walkways. The distinctly contemporary shape of the bow enhances the model’s aerodynamics, guaranteed by the mooring cover with an automatic up/down mechanism that maintains the streamlined design. Pershing 140 comes with four MTU 16 V 2000 M96L 2600 HP engines. The hydrojet propulsion assures excellent performance levels, both at cruising and maximum speed. Consistent with the Pershing DNA, the domotics and electronic systems are all state-of-the-art and conjugate performance with well-being and relaxation. Three Seakeeper 35s guarantee absolute comfort even while at anchor.

The three large decks and spacious outdoor areas make living on board the Pershing 140 extremely comfortable. The revolutionary stern area architecture is designed to enhance onboard entertainment and is exalted by the large beach club right at the water’s edge. To offer a personalised and unique thrill, all on-board decorations are tailored to reflect the owner’s style. But Pershing 140 is not only the brand’s first superyacht to boast outstanding performance; it is also the first to feature a raised cockpit directly connected to the sun deck; the first to have an owner-dedicated area on the main deck and the first to maximise the enjoyability of all the decks and outdoor areas. This achievement was made possible by joining them all into a beach club area.

Stylistically, the new flagship stands out for its sleek lines, emblematic of the brand’s sporty and competitive character. This feature is further enhanced by the ondemand application of a steel grid on the bow. Moreover, it combines design innovations with some of the brand’s most iconic details, such as the two lateral wings, that are integrated into its superstructure and then connected at the start of the walkways to the gunwale. The prow, which is instead decidedly contemporary in design, contributes to enhance the model’s aerodynamics. The whole area of the bow moorings is concealed, operated with an automatic up/down mechanism to maintain the streamlined design aesthetic. The upper deck of the Pershing 140 is perfectly in line with the overall privacy assured to the central part, which is protected by an aluminium hard-top. Conceived as a spacious panoramic terrace, it is entirely furnishable with freestanding pieces, and it can be accessed by walking up from the mezzanine deck or from the raised cockpit. The latter is connected to the second control station, in case of wanting to steer the flagship from the outside. Perfect for entertaining, the upper deck also hosts a bar and grill area, a totalrelaxation area with a sun pad and, exclusively on the first unit, a projector and screen (both removable) and fixed loudspeakers. The ample forward outdoor spaces, only accessible through the lateral walkways, offer an area with a large sun pad just before a full-fledged concealed lounge equipped with a Jacuzzi, an inset dinette with two seats, a table and a sunbathing area. This area is only revealed when the yacht is anchored or moored while, during navigation, it is covered by a sliding platform, thus contributing to the streamlined sleekness of the external lines. The arrangement of this private area, as well as many others, can be completely tailored to the owner’s tastes.

ITAMA 75’ A MYTH EVOLUTION

I

tama 75’ is the largest craft in the Itama fleet, a brand of the Ferretti Group, known worldwide for the unique style of its white-blue hulls, enhanced by Designed by architect Marco Casali in cooperation with Ferretti Group Engineering Department, this boat, which is more than 23 metres long, it’s perfect for the ship owner who wants to experience the sea without filters. DESIGN EVOLUTION The first development that has been made with regard to previous models is the boat’s exterior design that has been deliberately perfected to enhance the craft’s aura of power. High bows, a distinctively curved profile and a sleek structure thanks to its slim central carbon roof are the features that distinguish this dynamic open yacht and highlight its sporting spirit. On going onboard, on the other hand, the first thing that strikes you about this motor-yacht is the high quality of its living areas and the revolutionary use of space. The innovative approach that has been adopted here has created an even greater layout differentiation and a higher level of functionality, while at the same time maintaining the high standard of finishing that these craft are famous for. The end result? Stunning appeal and exclusive features.

CARBON INNOVATION If we begin by focusing on technology and materials, this craft is fitted with a very special carbon fibre and glass windshield and “avantop”. The new, autoclave-moulded carbon and glass windshield is no less than 10.70 metres long at the sides and 4.50 metres wide. The entire windshield is therefore almost 26 metres long, a highly innovative feature in terms of both its unique golf club-shaped window section and its spacious front opening that slides away with a pantograph movement to join the cockpit to the sundeck in the bows via an original central walkway. This innovation makes accessing the whole below decks area both safer and more convenient. The use of carbon fibre also saves 60% of the weight of a steel windshield of this size. A breakthrough adopted to improve performance in terms of both speed and fuel consumption; two features that are fundamental for a craft with such a sporting character. A brilliant combination of design, weight distribution and engineering enables the “avantop” to be both stylish and highly efficient, and the central uprights have been deliberately designed to improve visibility. Great care has also been taken over the style of the retractable bimini top that covers the

dinette. This opens by stowing away the fabric in a special carbon housing that closes automatically. Both the windshield and the “avantop” are part of the incredible design project that has succeeded in restyling the typical 70’s corners and contours of these parts of the boat. A TRULY LUXURIOUS COCKPIT The cockpit stands out for both its size and features. Measuring almost 60 square metres, the area is divided into 4 zones that include a second dinette decorated with the same fabric as the large horseshoe-shaped sofa in the centre of the cockpit. The white fibreglass helm console conceals seating that is also part of this second dinette. The aim of the design here has been to make these areas as private and as comfortable as possible by using original solutions such as LED and optic fibre lighting. The spacious, almost full beam, stern sundeck with double side walkways is located over the hangar that comfortably houses the craft’s tender or jet ski as well as a small crane to launch them with. It also features two comfortable sofas upholstered in a special waterproof fabric that can slide together to form a large horseshoe shape that can sit up to 12 people around a polished teak table. In general, all the furnishings have glass fibre frameworks with teak tops and doors.

AN EXTREMELY VERSATILE LAYOUT The craft’s standard layout includes 3 cabins (a Master Cabin, a full beam VIP cabin and a guest cabin with side-by-side twin beds) and 3 bathrooms, as well as a twin crew cabin with its own bathroom. In this initial layout the dinette is remarkably spacious and owners can even choose to include a bar and a 40-inch TV, two ideal features for enhancing still further the craft’s propensity for socializing.

FERRETTI YACHTS 1000 PROJECT TRASCENDING LIMITS

D

eveloping the concept for a new project is, above all, a journey. It is an experience where the only limit is your imagination, on a quest for sensations, for materials, geometries and forms – to express the essence of a style that must be utterly unique, in every aspect. We have not settled for dreaming up an ingenious concept with state-of-the-art technical solutions, increasingly inspired interiors, and living spaces of unprecedented comfort. We pushed ahead, even further, in space and time. Until we were absolutely certain that we had found the new essence of Ferretti Yachts, the quintessence of wellbeing and style. Beauty, in its purest form, opens our eyes to new visions and new perspectives. The limit of what has been achieved blurs into the idea of what is to come. A unique experience that captures the heart and excites the eye.

“Nothing is worth more than time.” 40,000 hours of concept development. 4,250 hours of naval design. 9,650 hours of prototyping the moulds. Those are the numbers behind a monumental project powered by talent and technology, innovative spirit and artisanal skill. The Ferretti Yachts 1000 is the largest yacht that the yard has yet built. To assure the finest quality and the most sublime detail, we rethought the whole production process, combining cutting-edge technology with the expert craftsmanship and timehonoured know-how of the Ferretti Group master shipwrights. For experience is the key to the attention to detail that a work of true excellence demands. It takes time and patience to make a masterpiece, to let an idea take shape and turn it into the embodiment of a dream. It takes time to make the time that matters most: the moments that you will savour in your new home on the waves.

HEESEN YACHTS GEMINI

C

oveted for their powerful aesthetic and chic European design, Heesen is a world-leading Dutch shipyard that builds superyachts from 50-80m known for their exceptional performance, technology and high-quality craftsmanship. Despite the challenges of 2020, the yacht builder’s 1000-strong workforce begin the year with 14 yachts under construction and are set to deliver no fewer than six new superyachts in 2021. With 28% of the world’s superyachts owned by Americans, it’s no surprise that the US is Heesen’s first market. Ever since the shipyard’s American debut in 1988 with Octopussy built for New York billionaire John Staluppi – the fastest yacht in the world at that time – its reputation has preceded itself. Interestingly, data shows that North Americans specifically like Dutch superyachts, with 44% of their new yachts being bought and built in The Netherlands. Enter Project Gemini, the newest in Heesen’s 55m Steel Class – due for delivery in October 2022. Exuding sophistication, Gemini’s exteriors were penned by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. Her profile is clean and crisp, with characteristic floor-to-ceiling windows providing uninterrupted views that flood the interior with natural light, offering the choice of panoramic vista after panoramic vista. As with her sisterships, Pollux and Castor, a distinctive ‘shark tooth’ design detail in the wheelhouse overhang makes her instantly recognisable, while masculine lines and a bank of vertical windows enhance her vertical shape. Designed for performance and power, Gemini has a Fast Displacement Hull Form which provides up to 30% more efficiency than a yacht in the same class. Powered by two MTU 8V 4000 M63 engines, she will reach a top speed of 15.5 knots with a range of 4,500 nautical miles at 13 knots.

Her spacious volume of 760GT provides a generous canvas for her stunning interiors. Refined materials have been championed in this paired back and sophisticated interior by Italian designer Luca Dini. A geometric design language threads through the yacht creating clearly defined areas. Warm, full gloss, tay wood, mirrors, decorated glass and natural stones are matched with marine leather wall panels and doors and fabric-lined ceilings. Accents of metal, marble and glass are used to give the light and airy interior composition and focus. All views lead to the horizon, celebrated by of floor-to-ceiling windows and large reflective surfaces throughout. There is no better place to experience this than the full beam sky lounge, which offers a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor. A delicious palette of lightly toasted almond and warm chocolate make this luxurious space the perfect place to unwind. A pair of Minotti bronze glass topped coffee tables create space, while a silk cream rug underfoot gives warmth to this zen interior. A trio of leather clad Giorgetti bar stools invite guests to take a seat, sip on an aperitif and drink in Gemini’s beauty and their surroundings. At the heart of the design is the owner’s stateroom, an 82-squaremetre retreat on the main deck. Here, amber mirrored panels, geometric lighting strips and a free standing lamp by Viabizzuno draw together to create an atmospheric escape. Pierre Frey cotton and linen curtains effortlessly drape next to an expanse of windows port and starboard. A linear design philosophy carves out separate and defined areas, from the vanity unit, to relaxation chairs and a sprawling king sized bed. Elsewhere, ten guests are accommodated across five staterooms, all with stunning marble en-suite facilities. Additionally the beach club offers access to a wellness area, and a sun deck for soaking up the best of yachting life.

Beautiful Gemini is a semi-custom build, built on speculation, allowing for a much faster delivery time. However, considering itself as a team of ‘dream-builders’ Heesen’s other speciality is full-custom projects, started from the ground upwards based on the vision of an owner. One such project, and in stark visual contrast to Gemini, is Heesen’s most powerful venture to date, Project Skyfall. At 59m and made entirely of aluminium with a Fast Displacement Hull, she is designed for speed and will reach a phenomenal 37 knots. Her thunder will come from an astonishing 22,000 horsepower that feeds four water jets that will drive her 900GT volume through the ocean. Exuding power and speed in every single detail of her striking profile, highlighted by an aggressive black and red paint scheme, the exterior design is by Dutch designers Omega Architects. Developed to accommodate the owner’s passions, a sport fishing cockpit is located at the stern for deep sea adventures and pursuits or rare game fish. Now under construction, her build process will take approximately three years and she is planned for delivery in Spring 2023.
