OUR MISSION

Our mission is to custom-make powerful experiences that impact the people who impact the world. Whether heli-skiing near the Arctic Circle in Iceland or casting for bonefish on a remote island in the Bahamas, Eleven® offers are a different kind of escape. We are not found in traditional destinations. Our lodges, chalets and beach houses are miles from the main road - in a historic farming village high along the FrenchItalian border, on a rugged river in Patagonia, and in other unique locations away from the crowd.

In each destination, local chefs and comfortable lodging are combined with guided fishing from rivers to reefs, and a variety of outdoor activities from the mountains to the sea. Guests of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to join in the adventures, and to improve their skills with instruction from our expert guides. Meanwhile, local cultures present the opportunity to participate in a different way of life, to see and enjoy places known only to native insiders.

At the root of Eleven’s identity is the belief that you shouldn’t have to sacrifice the comforts of home in order to experience some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes and incredible adventures. Our team has scoured the globe for destinations relatively unknown and which still have a strong connection to their community and landscape. Although our properties are far from the main road, they are custom designed to ensure you have access to all of the amenities you shouldsteam showers, saunas, pools, unique hang spaces, comfortable guest rooms and more.

CUSTOM TAILORED EXPERIENCES

We believe that your trip should be about you. That means that no trip is ever the same. Even before you arrive, our Experience Managers will help plan your dream itinerary, design menus, organize travel logistics, take note of your preferences and plan special moments. We want you to experience the most out of your trip. As a result, most of our stays are largely all-inclusive — meaning that your professional guides, outdoor activities, most meals, house alcohol and local transportation are included. ELEVEN GUIDE TEAM

At the core of the experience is the Eleven Guide Team. This international group of highly-trained outdoor and adventure specialists makes the entire experience. Their mission is to assess your goals and comfort levels and then customize the adventure to provide that “best-day-ever” experience. Our guides’ enthusiasm for their local surroundings and the adventures they share with you is infectious. It’s what sets Eleven apart from any other company in the industry. If getting after it and being slightly out of your comfort zone sounds exciting, this cast of characters will safely lead you through a life-changing experience.

BEST DAY EVER POLICY

This is important. Unlike other resorts and guide operations, we don’t acknowledge “down days” or “weather days.” There are no rain checks. We are always armed and amped to improvise and be creative. If we can’t ski, we’ll surf. If we can’t fish, we’ll go paddle boarding with a gourmet riverside lunch. You came to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and this is what you’ll get.

THE EXPERIENCE AT ELEVEN WINTERLAKE LODGE

A true emblem of Alaska’s rugged spirit, Winterlake Lodge beckons guests to discover an all-encompassing adventure on the “Last Frontier.” Delivering an uninterrupted experience of the wild, the lodge’s six log cabins border an untouched lake along the staggering embraced by the staggering Tordrillo Mountains and Alaska Range, where the heights of Denali can be spotted on long sunny days. The menu of guided adventures is as long as it is wide—hop in a helicopter to explore dramatic glacier crevasses; float down a nearby river in pursuit of Chinook salmon and rainbow trout; and experience Alaska’s tradition of dog mushing at our nearby dog camp.

ABOUT THE PROPERTY

PROPERTY OVERVIEW

Located on the fourth checkpoint of the famous Iditarod Trail, Winterlake Lodge is composed of six quaint cabins, which will soon be enhanced to reflect Eleven’s distinct style and offer the elevated comforts that distinguish our destinations. The largest cabin is an original log cabin that includes three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The others, configured with one or two cozy bedrooms, reflect the quintessential ambiance of mountain cabin life, welcoming guests home after their adventures to take in staggering lake and mountain views at their leisure. A spacious main lodge hosts guests for authentic Alaska-inspired dinners amidst the warmth of two wood-burning fireplaces, while its expansive deck draws guests outside to spot wildlife around Finger Lake. A cedar hot tub and wood-fired sauna complete the lodge experience, delivering a well-deserved dose of rustic relaxation after a day in the great outdoors.

HELI-ASSISTED GLACIER TREKKING

Explore the magnificence of seldom-visited glaciers on a custom guided adventure to experience Alaska’s famed ice falls, crevasses, moulins, melt channels, and crystal blue pools

HELI-ASSISTED TUNDRA AND ALPINE HIKING

Experience everything from treeless tundra and wildflower meadows to ridgelines, waterfalls, and caribou country on a variety of heli-assisted hikes in the Alaska Range and Tordrillo Mountains.

WHITEWATER RAFTING

Navigate the exhilarating Class III rapids of this heli-accessed river alongside expert guides. Dramatic scenery marked by intriguing flora and fauna and a riverside lunch highlight this adventure.

GUIDED FLY FISHING

Target all five species of Pacific salmon, rainbow trout, Arctic Grayling, and Dolly Varden while wading heli-accessed streams or floating various rivers with expert guides.

COOKING CLASSES

Concoct your own Alaska-fueled dish using local ingredients and authentic practices alongside our passionate chefs during this 1-hour cooking course in the main lodge.

LAKE SPORTS

Winterlake Lodge is situated on a lovely lake (hence our name). It’s the summertime home to nesting loons, Trumpeter swans, and lovely views of neighboring mountains. Paddle around on a kayak, canoe, stand up paddle board, or paddle boat and listen to the silence.

HATCHET TOSS

Perfect your aim throwing a hatchet at our on-property target, taking guidance from our staff’s expert skills and enjoying a classic pastime in a stunning setting.

DOG SLEDDING

Helicopter over to the nearby ice field that houses our dog camp, where you’ll embark on a classic Alaska dog sledding adventure with enthusiastic guides and a team of lovable huskies.

FORAGING

Meander through the woods around the lodge to learn all there is to know about Alaska’s wild edible treasures. Along with onsite greenhouses, the native greens, berries, and herbs are plentiful.

SURVIVAL SKILLS COURSE

Learn a variety of basic survival techniques that will equip you on your adventures with expanded backcountry knowledge and informed decision-making skills when safety challenges arise.

SUMMER AT WINTERLAKE LODGE

DAY 1 ARRIVAL + WELCOME

• Arrive by float plane to Winterlake Lodge, where you’ll be greeted by your lodge team for a property tour and itinerary briefing

• Enjoy a chef-prepared lunch followed by a stroll through our gardens and along the Iditarod Trail

• End the day with a wine tasting, appetizers, and a delicious dinner

DAY 2 DOG SLEDDING + GLACIER TREKKING

• After fueling up with a seasonal breakfast, helicopter to our nearby Dog Camp, where you’ll embark on the dog sledding adventure of a lifetime

• Hop back into the helicopter to explore a nearby glacier, trekking with your guides along crevasses, moulins and snowfields and enjoy a packed lunch out on the ice

• Back at the lodge, enjoy a wine and beer tasting accompanied by locally sourced après, followed by a flavor-forward dinner prepared to your tastes

DAY 3 FLY FISHING + LAKE FUN

• After a hearty breakfast and morning yoga, head out with the angling guides to fish for salmon and trout from a raft, stopping for a riverside packed lunch mid-day

• Once back at the lodge, walk down to the lake to enjoy the afternoon kayaking and paddle boarding, or explore the hiking trails around the lodge

• Sip local beer in the hot tub before an exquisite, Alaska-fueled closing dinner with your group

DAY 4 DEPARTURE

• After a nutritious breakfast, depart for Anchorage by float plane from the lodge’s lake

GETTING HERE

Winterlake Lodge is a fly-in property, meaning guests must arrive by floatplane that lands on the lake just in front of the lodge.

BY PLANE

Step 1: Your Home to Anchorage

• Fly into Anchorage (ANC), where we recommend staying the night to allow extra time in case of challenging weather conditions. We’re happy to offer suggestions on where to stay.

Step 2: Anchorage to Winterlake Lodge by seaplane

• Next, you’ll fly in a seaplane from Anchorage straight to Winterlake Lodge’s on-property lake, which we can help arrange for an additional charge. The semi-private or private air taxi is located at Lake Hood Seaplane Base, just next to the Anchorage international airport.
