Charles Hadcock - Elements In collaboration with Encounter Fine Art 6th June - 28th August, 2014 Reception: 5th June, 6.30pm A major exhibition of new works will be revealed by the leading British sculptor Charles Hadcock on th Thursday 5 June at 60 Threadneedle Street. Elements represents the culmination of rich and dynamic artistic experimentation over the past three decades. The exhibition also marks an engaging new collaboration between Hadcock and Encounter Fine Art, an innovative company with a growing reputation for approaching the contemporary art world with a fresh outlook. Hadcock has gained international acclaim through his powerful monumental sculptures. Frequently displayed at prestigious locations including Sotheby’s Chatsworth House exhibition Beyond Limits, the critically acclaimed Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice, and at London’s buzzing commercial centre Canary Wharf, Hadcock engages diverse audiences across the globe. For Elements, Hadcock has produced an exquisitely crafted new studio series. The artist’s beautifully engineered objects initiate dynamic interplay between weight and weightlessness, the form and the space which it engages. For Hadcock nature and industry are ‘essential elements’ which when combined conjure ‘a distinct atmosphere of ingenuity and an empathy with constructions of the past’. Fusing his longstanding exploration of material primacy and geometry with a radical and innovative creative process, Hadcock’s metal sculptures are as mathematically nuanced as they are physically direct. 'Charles Hadcock’s sculptures are not wholly organic, but look instead as if he has taken a natural form and subjected it to some sort of unearthly torque. The resulting pieces are full of twists and movements, as if bent out of shape by a giant and then discarded, before falling heavily to earth.' Peter Chapman, The Independent Hadcock also breaks new ground through his exciting collaboration with Encounter Fine Art. Encounter conceives projects with cutting-edge contemporary artists from the winner of Saatchi Gallery New Sensations, to those who have exhibited at the Venice Biennale and others who are in the permanent collection of the Tate. With exhibitions this year at the internationally acclaimed Sketch, Mayfair and Broadway House, West London’s newest private members club, Encounter are set for what promises to be their most exciting collaboration yet. At the heart of the City of London, framed in the windows of Threadneedle Street, Hadcock’s exhibition will run from June until the end of August. 60 Threadneedle Street London EC2R 8HP Opening Times: 8am – 9pm For Sales Enquires please contact For Private Tours contact, Jordan Harris. jharris@encounterfineart.com. 07792961677 For Press Enquires and images, contact Lee Sharrock, lee@leesharrock.co.uk, 07814862834
