Studio Lilesadi and Studio Siebring & Zoetmulder combined their aesthetics to create a delicate universe with a minimalistic touch and propose a source of inspiration around their products. Lilesadi’s last collection of interior objects and textiles, with graphic patterns and soft colours matches with the raw and light aspect of the materialisation and proportions of Siebring&Zoetmulder’s furniture collection.

Studio LileSADI based in Rotterdam was founded end of 2011 by the creative design duo Dinah and Sarah Smutny. Creating original textiles, fresh wallpapers and other interior products we aim to brighten up people’s lives by bringing minimalism and poetry into their homes. We are inspired by our sorroundings. We love our everyday life in the city but we also feel sometimes the need to escape and feel in contact with nature. This feeling is translated by bold black&white graphic patterns in combination with soft colours and fluid shapes. At LileSADi we are proud that all our products are designed, printed and made in Europe.

The three elements are connected through two bolts and fifteen colourful rings. The design is inspired on Rotterdam as a changing city.

Wall Cabinet (big) This wall unit consists out of different rectangular shapes. The composition is playfull and diagonal which makes this bookcase an defiant eye-catcher in your home. Size: +/- 150 x 160 x 37 cm

Dutch designers ‘Siebring&Zoetmulder’ have collaborated with ‘Studio LileSadi’ to create a cabinet that is not only a functional organizer, but also a platform for a beautiful material collage - or how we like to see it, a physical and material still life.

A cabinet that is not only a functional organizer, but also a playground for aesthetic compositions of materials, structures and shapes. Suddenly your daily artifacts become part of what looks like a classical Dutch still life painting, the concept that gives roots to the name ‘Daily gems’.

INSPIRATION The inspiration for the materials comes from the city of Rotterdam: where exciting architecture and industrial materials shape the landscape. The city also represents a stage for daily life, appreciating the small details.

ROTTERDAM

DUTCH STILL LIFE

In addition, another big source of inspiration comes from Dutch still life paintings, their composition, proportions and display of little daily artifacts.

PROCESS SKETCHES

Pouring plaster for the porcelain pieces in Delft.

Cutting the wood at a workshop in Rotterdam.

Drawing and painting patterns.

Printing on mirrors at the graphic studio in Den Haag.

The materials were carefully selected and hand-crafted. Each one tells its own narrative: a circular screen-printed mirror, a perforated recycled metal square, a brass triangle with rain drops from Rotterdam and a hand-made cobalt blue porcelain circle.

MATERIALS RESEARCH STORY

Their function is not just an aesthetic one, they also add value on a functional level. For instance, they can be used to lean a book against, hang jewellery on, display a plant, or store away your gloves.

MIRROR With a hand screen-printed pattern, which is inspired on the lines in the city.

BRASS With an oxidized pattern generated by Rotterdam rain drops.

GRID From metal which represents the building blocks of the city.

PORCELAIN Which is hand poured and glazed with an intuitive making process.

WOOD Through careful research the proportions of the cabinet are selected.

These geometric textured shapes are made to feel, experience and create a sensorial poetic cityscape on the cabinet.

TECHNICAL DETAILS STRUCTURE

The boxes are designed with beautifully milled lines all around the cabinet. They create a subtle pattern and rhythm, serving as rails for several different materials.

The Daily Gems cabinet features two boxes cleverly juxtaposed and interconnected, creating interesting and functional spaces.

WALL DISPLAY OPTIONS

The cabinet can be attached to the wall in 4 different positions, allowing one to create a trully personal piece of furniture.
