Com muita alegria escrevo minha primeira coluna degustando um dos meus charutos preferidos - Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure N.2 - em um Clube de Charutos no coração dos Jardins, em São Paulo. O charuto ainda é desfrutado majoriariamente pelo público masculino. Sinto-me privilegiada em fazer parte disso não apenas como apreciadora, mas como profissional especialista em charutos e experiências sensoriais.

Em 1519, um pequeno povoado foi criado no Caribe, chamado pelos colonizadores de San Cristóba em homenagem a Cristovão Colombo, mas os índios nativos preferiam uma palavra em sua própria linguagem: La Habana. Desta união surgiu San Cristóbal de La Habana, uma pequena vila que com o passar do tempo se transformou na linda e cosmopolitan Havana, capital de Cuba. De seu porto navios saiam preciosas cargas e uma das mais apreciadas eram as que levavam charutos produzidos manualmente com uma combinação de solo, clima e sabedoria que logo passaram a ser conhecidos como Habanos. No 480 º Aniversário de fundação da cidade, a Corporação Habanos S.A. responsável pela comercialização dos charutos em todo mundo, lançou a marca de charutos San Cristobál de La Habana, criada para satisfazer os gostos dos mais exigentes fumadores com um blend único e uma gama de quatro formatos, dois deles não produzidos anteriormente.
