December 2009
Dear Friends & Family, How long could you live on $3300? That’s the per capita income for the population of the Dominican Republic where 18.4% of citizens are unemployed. Many children do odd jobs for pennies instead of going to school – a luxury they cannot afford. Subsistence living is the norm. I am excited to share with you that I have the opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic with our High School Student Ministry to G.O. th th Ministries, March 13 -20 for spring break. During the week, my team will be working side-by-side with nationals to help build a Christian school and a church in Santiago, Dominican Republic. We will also have the opportunity to lead worship in several local churches, assist in the Feeding Center, and do VBS work with the local children. Would you consider helping me with this worthy project? As a team member, I need to raise $1400 to cover travel, food, lodging, supplies, and equipment that will be left for the Dominican people and projects. All gifts that are sent in the enclosed reply envelope will be credited to my mission project account. Checks should be made payable to Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. Please fill out the information portion of the response envelope and send it with your contribution enclosed. Your charitable contribution is tax deductible if my name is not written anywhere on the check. My final st payment is due March 1 , 2010. I know there are many opportunities each year to support these types of outreaches. So, if you have already financially contributed, or are unable, that is understood. But may I ask you to mark your calendar to pray for my team and me during this trip? I’m looking forward to being part of this service experience to the Dominican Republic. Thank you for your prayers and look forward to a report on how the trip goes!
In His Service,
