High School The Six Parent Letter Oct. 2010

Parents, Happy Fall! Ever wish your child had more trust in your advice, decisions, etc.? Perhaps that’s the feeling God experiences with us as His children. This Fall we are talking about faith. The question we’re asking is: “What would your life look like if you were ABSOLUTELY CONFIDENT that God could be trusted?” We are approaching the topic of FAITH from two perspectives through November:

5 areas God uses to grow our faith • Practical Teaching • Providential Relationships • Personal Ministry • Private Disciplines • Pivotal Circumstances

Faith

The story of Joseph (Genesis 37) • Part One: *What does faith look like when life is bad, unfair, etc.? • Part Two: What does faith look like when life is good? • Part Three: What does faith look like when we have the opportunity to get revenge on those who have hurt us?

*-covered in September Through our time at The Six, we will be challenging your child to examine the story of Joseph, as well as these 5 common areas of life in hopes they will be encouraged and informed of how to grow in their faith. We want to encourage you to engage them in conversation about what they’re hearing in class. A great place to start would be to ask about Part One of the story of Joseph: Ask what they think about the first part of Joseph’s life (sold into slavery, wrongfully accused of crime, in prison, etc.) and how could someone be faithful through such unfair circumstances? Perhaps you’ve got better, more personal stories you can share where you or someone else you know found it hard to trust God due to difficult circumstances??
