Using competitor analysis based on silhouette, colour palette and decorative features; I have created a garment to aid the product development process. Key Visceral features such as active elements have also influenced this silhouette development.

Wide leg silhouette with panel details
Although bold and effective, the use of contrasting coloured stitching wouldn’t be fitting with Oasis’ signature style. It would complicate the aesthetics of a product, by being too trend-driven.
Visceral has a dominant colour palette, however is this too bold, especially in contrast with the prints used? Colour palette must be brand focussed. Dilution is required to create softer tones, but still remain trend-led.
Magnified illustration of chunky zip decorative detail on skirt design development.
Research identified for Oasis to stay away from monochrome colour palettes, to remain competitive. Monochrome prints therefore unsuitable. Slits identified as trend driven in research. But is this suitable for all Oasis consumers? Could it alienate?
Visible zips are not functional fastenings. Influence for decorative chunky zips taken from WGSN SS16 Buyers Briefing.
Jumpsuits identified as a ‘pivotal’ piece. Design developments see two length options fitting for different consumers.
Panels and binding show influence from active elements. Print placement for these design developments create a bold statement. More effective than all over print placement.
A-line skirt silhouette identified as key for Oasis.
Contrasting binding
Colour palette developed from trend research and prints, however is it bold and eye-catching, and suitable for the season?
Experimenting with slits in products. To ensure products suitable for all consumers, each design could have different bodice silhouettes.
Crinkle effect fabric, to represent futuristic elements of the trend Trend-led computer glitched prints.
Sophisticated development of slits on trouser seam, which is more fitting for consumers and brand focussed.
All 3 prints have been developed, based on trend research and from consideration of Oasis and their consumers. The design development process concluded that bold shades are vital; however, they must be coordinated with neutral shades to ensure success of products, and translation of trend. Each print reflects ‘computer glitches’ and futuristic elements, whilst still coordinating with a colour palette suitable for Oasis.
