BRIEF TITLE: Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogy DVD collection (Brief 3) Brief: Create cover artwork and inserts for a limited edition collection of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies box set. Background: Inspired by the works of J.R.R Tolkien the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit movies have become some of the most successful sci-fi films of all time; with the final instalment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Return of the King, winning 11 Oscars in 2003. The last part of the Hobbit, the prequel to LOTR, is due to be released December 17th in the UK and complete the works of J.R.R Tolkien and director of the franchise, Peter Jackson. Considerations: As most fans of the franchise will already have the DVD’s they might not want to purchase them again. The box set must be sold as a collector’s item to ensure that fans want and need to buy it. Mandatory Requirements: Artwork should have link to each film individually and will be purely illustration based. Target Audience: Fans of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit movies/novels. DVD collectors. Tone of Voice: Sympathetic illustration that fits with the tone of the films. Deliverables: 6 DVD covers, 1 insert and Limited Edition case. An on-going documentation and evaluation posted to relevant blogs. A minimum of 5 design boards showing final resolution. A video showing how the digital resolution works on smart phone and tablets. A written evaluation posted to design blog.
