If you’ve been to Ellicottville, then you know all about the great places to go for amazing craft brews. And what’s the perfect complement to an ice cold beer? A signature burger, of course! This summer, The Usual Gang of Idiots, known for their snowy slopeside shenanigans, will tour Ellicottville to bring you the best in creative craft brews and amazing, specialty burgers. Their mouthwatering installments are sure to leave you craving a sip and a bite. Whether you’re inside on a rainy day or outside enjoying the glorious sunshine on a local deck or beer garden, there are loads of places to savor a beer and burger. John Harvard’s Brewery & Ale House, located slopeside inside the Tamarack Club at Holiday Valley resort, serves “Real beer. Honest food.” Choose from a wide variety of craft brews, which rotate seasonally, as well as four Brew House burgers and four gourmet burgers. Dine al fresco or inside the dining room with expansive views of the slopes. The Gin Mill offers a huge selection of taps serving the freshest draft beer, and their Gin Mill specialty burger is as well known as their establishment. Summer Music Festival Kicks Off July 4 Mountaintop Carnival Party, Outdoor Concerts, Fireworks, Pet Parade & More

Ellicottville’s Summer Music Festival, July 4–6, is one weekend you won’t want to miss. This action-packed, fun-filled weekend offers fun for the whole family. So, pack your car and head to Ellicottville next weekend. This year, the weekend launches with an adult old-fashioned, carnival-themed Top of the Mountain Party (adults) on Friday, July 4 at 6 p.m. Start the evening with a scenic chairlift ride
to the top of Mardi Gras for spectacular views and a party like no other. A full dinner with food stations will include Coney Island steamers, mahi mahi tacos, wok specialties and more. In addition, there will be great live entertainment, fun adult carnival games and a cash bar. Tickets for the event are $40 per person. Saturday, July 5, brings a family-friendly evening with a performance by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, which always sounds fabulous as you watch from the slopes of Holiday Valley. A stunning fireworks display caps the evening. Bring a blanket, chairs and a picnic, if you like. Tickets are $25 pre-sale, and children 12 and under are free. A VIP Weekend Package is also available that includes a sponsors’ dinner that evening. On Sunday, July 6, the Grammy-nominated group the Gin Blossoms performs slopeside at Holiday Valley with an opening performance by Nelson Starr and The Benjamins. Pre-sale tickets are $25, and children 12 and under are free. And that’s not all! There is family-friendly fun in the village all weekend long. An outdoor Art and Craft Show will take place on the village streets. Bring Fido for the annual Pet Parade and promenade him down the village streets. Scenic Byway Clears Latest Hurdle Town Board Addresses Ordinances, Police Association By Jann Wiswall
The Ellicottville Town Board meeting Wednesday, June 25, opened with a public hearing on an amendment to Local Law #3, Section VII, of the year 2012 entitled “Town of Ellicottville Rules and Regulations Governing Water Service.” Section VII deals
with the proper placement of pressure-reducing valves and water meters. The language of the amendment clarifies those requirements, said Town Engineer Mark Alianello, who recommended the changes. No members of the public were in attendance to address the issue and the board approved the
amendment. Supervisor John Burrell said in his “good news” report that he and other supporters of the extension of the 71-mile Southtowns Scenic Byway into Cattaraugus County, including representatives of the Village of Ellicottville and See Scenic Byway, page 5

ECS Honors Departing Board Members Crowley, Wiley School District Ranked No. 1 in Catt. County By Jann Wiswall
The Ellicottville Central School Board of Education presented plaques to departing, long-term board members Steve Crowley and James Wiley at its meeting on
Tuesday, June 24. Crowley has served on the board for 15 consecutive years, Wiley for a record-breaking 29 years. They will be replaced on July 1 with newly elected board members Niki Klein and Michele Cortez.
During the meeting, Superintendent Mark Ward reported that the bids received for the school’s renovation project were higher than expected. He assured the See ECS School Board page 8
