“Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” (June 25)

In 2002, cable news producer Kim Barker (Tina Fey) decides to shake up her routine by taking a daring new assignment in Kabul, Afghanistan. Like the country music that has traditionally channeled the heartbreak and resilience of Americans in search of themselves and others, the film weaves a lyrical and joyful refrain out of the act of being alone.

“Judy” (June 26) This biographical drama is set 30 years after beloved actress and singer Judy Garland (Renée Zellweger) starred in “The Wizard of Oz” (1939). Arriving in London to perform sold-out shows at the Talk of the Town nightclub, Judy reminisces with friends and fans and begins a whirlwind romance with musician Mickey Deans (Finn Wittrock), her soon-to-be fifth husband.

“Worst Roomate Ever” (June 26)

In Season 2, this chilling docuseries once again highlights harrowing tales of seemingly harmless roommates turning into real-life nightmares for their unsuspecting victims when their malevolent and sometimes violent intentions are revealed. ‘Coming Home’ brings the Vietnam

War era home again

Vietnam War was still a subject that movie studios were

when “Coming Home” was released in 1978, but the praise it received and the

won — for actress (for Jane Fonda), actor (Jon Voight) and original screenplay

Turner Classic Movies presents it Saturday, June 29, as part of a “Two for One” night of selections by filmmaker Nicole Holofcener (“Walking and Talking”). Fonda plays the wife of a dedicated Marine captain (Bruce Dern), and while he’s deployed overseas, she becomes involved with a former classmate (Voight), a quadriplegic injured during his own military service. Her feelings for both men leave her torn as they espouse vastly different sentiments about America’s involvement in the war; while the movie makes its points on that count, it also works as a moving love story. The soundtrack includes familiar songs of the era by such artists as The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and The Chambers Brothers.
