A BRIEF HISTORY In October 1991 the Harvey Nichols group was acquired from the Burton Group by Dickson Concepts, an international retailer and distributor of branded luxury goods based in Hong Kong and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. In April 1996, Harvey Nichols obtained a full listing on the London Stock Exchange and for the subsequent period of almost 7 years stayed as a listed company.
Harvey Nichols’ first store outside London opened in the historic Victoria Quarter of Leeds in 1996. The store, with five floors has become a landmark destination in the city centre.
February 2003 saw the return of Harvey Nichols to private ownership and Harvey Nichols Group Limited is now owned by the Hong Kong-based businessman Dr. Dickson Poon whose retail businesses extend to North America, Europe, Japan, China and South East Asia.

September 2008 saw the opening of Harvey Nichols Bristol, the sixth UK store. Later in the year Harvey Nichols opened its latest international store in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.
At the end of February 2006, the magnificent Dubai store opened to the public and became an instant luxury landmark in the city. In October 2006, Harvey Nichols opened its first Turkish store in the historic city of Istanbul.
September 2005 was a busy month for Harvey Nichols, with the opening of two new stores, both outside of the UK. The Hong Kong store opened at the beginning of the month at the Landmark centre in the city, followed by the opening of the first Irish Harvey Nichols at the Dundrum retail centre, a few miles South of Dublin city centre.
January 2003 saw Harvey Nichols return to private ownership and de-listed from the London Stock Exchange. August 2003 saw the opening of its fifth UK store in Manchester.
In 2002, Harvey Nichols opened it's first Scottish store at St. Andrew Square, Edinburgh.
2001 saw the opening of the first small format store at the Mailbox centre in Birmingham.
In May 2000 the first overseas store in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia was opened in a store complex designed by Sir Norman Foster, with award winning interiors by Hosker Moore and Kent.
In October 1996 Harvey Nichols opened its second UK store in Leeds, Victoria Quarter.
In April 1996 Harvey Nichols Group plc was listed on the London Stock Exchange. The Group went on to launch The OXO Tower Restaurant, Bar and Brasserie on London's south bank and Prism Restaurant and Bar in the City of London.
In 1991 the store was acquired by Dickson Concepts (International) Ltd and embarked on a major refurbishment of the Fifth Floor Foodmarket, Restaurant, Bar and CafĂŠ.
In 1919 Harvey Nichols was bought by Debenhams and in 1985 became part of the Burton Group.
The present building was constructed including the front section and facia.
In 1820 the business passed on to his daughter on the understanding that she go into partnership with Colonel Nichols, selling Oriental carpets, silks and luxury goods alongside the linens.
In 1813 Benjamin Harvey opened a linen shop in a terraced house on the corner of Knightsbridge and Sloane Street in London.

The mood of this modern young style pays homage to its heritage and some of the details and sartorial pointers have been introduced in the use of iconic soft fabrics, dyed fabrics, dusty desert tones and delicate sartorial stitching; all reflections of green label’s ancestry. The cuts are sharp and slim-line to suit an energetic build, grafting new vitality into the most classic of fabrics, such as mixed wool-cashmeres, pure cashmeres, 100% silks or fine silk and linen blends.

Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren established their womenswear label, Viktor & Rolf in 1993 and the menswear line, Viktor & Rolf Monsieur in 2003. Dressing like elegant twin gentlemen in matching clothes and glasses, the designers are equally known for their conceptual designs, shows and fragrances. This Spring/Summer 2011, the Viktor & Rolf Monsieur collection is inspired by shadows cast by the sun and artificial lighting on film sets, which is referenced in shadow print T-shirts, with logos and their trademark geek chic glasses. Also key to the collection, are classic black and white bib front shirts. Geometric stripes and attention to detail pearl collar options provide a contemporary take on the tux shirt. Understated, chic black trousers give a polished finish to the “black tie” look. For cool, low key elegance, wear with faded blue and light grey jeans from the Dutch designer duo’s collection Shop the Spring/Summer Viktor & Rolf collection in store and online.

Harvey Nichols is excited to introduce October’s cocktail of the month;
SHAKEN & STIRRED
COCKTAIL MASTERCLASS £25 per person and includes a one hour session on cocktail making
Alternatively why not try one at home by following the simple recipe;
AUTUMN BLOOM.
“Autumn Bloom”
Autumn Bloom is a chic sipper created using Bloom Gin; an innovative premium London dry gin presented in a striking ornate jewel-cut bottle. Bloom is created from juniper, chamomile, pomelo and honeysuckle and it offers a light, refreshing experience rounded with subtle notes of honey and orange.
25ml Apple Juice
Bloom’s delicate floral notes and aromas represents the perfect base ingredient for this month’s Harvey Nichols Cocktail of the month, the Autumn Bloom. Stylishly complemented by the forest flavour of Crème de Mûre liqueur, a generous helping of apple juice and a couple of seasonal blackberries which accurate the natural botanicals of Bloom’s crisp, autumnal flavour. The resulting cocktail is delicately balanced, deliciously fruity and strikingly smooth.
2 Blackberries
Created by Glauco Daquino of the Fifth Floor Bar, Knightsbridge, this cocktail is available in all of our bars until the end of the month.
Garnish with a slice of apple and a blackberry
COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH
