On October 25, 2016, the Board of Education approved the 2016-17 District Budget of $84 million. The mill rate, or tax levy for $1,000 of household value, decreased $.28, or -2.8% to $9.78. Elmbrook’s mill rate in 2016 would rank 3rd lowest amongst our benchmark peers’ 2015-16 tax levy rates.

Internet Capacity: Partnered with the City of
Brookfield to build a dark fiber network across the community to support internet bandwidth needs for the next 20 years Swanson Expansion: A significant increase in enrollment on the south side of the Elmbrook community placed capacity pressures on Swanson Elementary. The school board approved a $2.4 million expansion at Swanson for a multipurpose cafeteria and gymnasium, the first facility addition since 1992 when classrooms were added without corresponding gymnasium space.

Enrollment Balancing Task Force: The school board commissioned a task force which met for six months and issued a comprehensive report and recommendation for 2017-18. The Board approved this recommendation on Oct. 8, 2016.
