Editorial As the session is taking place in Savonlinna, we understood that culture is important for this Session. Therefore, we thought that the Media Team should support this essential theme. Culture is part of each of us. Culture is what makes you different from someone else, but in the same time, it can gives you a feeling of being part of something. Most of the time, we discover that our culture is present in us when we travel abroad. We meet new people, and we share with them how we do something in our own country. As French people, we love « croissant » in the morning, but we even more enjoy the fact that you Finns, are eating salty breads in the morning ! And basically, this is what EYP does. We have the opportunity to discover new cultures trough new people. You are lucky enough to be part of it, so share with as much people as you can. Lorem doesn't mean anything to you we guess … This means « culture » in Latin. And look … this is a new type of culture ! Nauttikaa lehdestä ! Your dear Editors, Élodie Métral and Zabeth Wagemann. #RSFLorem

Your Guide to EYP As this is the first session for many of you and hopefully the beginning of a journey into the world of EYP, Zamzam Elmi will walk you through the essentials. What is EYP? The European Youth Parliament (EYP) is a non-profit and non-partisan educational project that mimics the procedure of the European Parliament. It has now over 30,000 active members. What do we do in EYP? We play odd games to break the ice and build a team. We challenge you to step out of your comfort zone with demanding committee topics and gripping discussions. Also, we meet people from all over Europe, have fun, and drink a surprising amount of coffee (or tea for the weaker-hearted). Rebecca Kiiski, the president of EYP Eastern Finland, has had her share of weird and wonderful experiences in the organisation. I took the liberty of asking her a few questions and possible advice she might have for newcomers. What is the connection between EYP and EYP Finland? “EYP Finland is the national committee of Finland. Basically, it takes care of internal affairs, getting new people involved, members going abroad and organises sessions”. What does EYP Eastern Finland do? “EYP Finland is also divided into five regional committees. We have Eastern Finland, Northern Finland, Helsinki, Turku and Tampere. They all have their own boards, organise events throughout the year and have meet-ups with alumni. They are also in charge of school tours and getting new delegates”. What does EYP mean to you? “It means very much to me. I do not think I can fill it up with one word. This is my 14 th session and I am doing five sessions in a row now, so I think that says something”. When did you start EYP? “I started in 2011 in Savonlinna, so in the same city. This time however, it will be in a different school, which is good. The last time the school was a maze. All the delegates got lost and we did not learn the school until GA day”. Welcome to the world of EYP !
