ReNgA worD- m-Ap, hIcA RoNdAlla De l’AssimIlA
This book is the result of the alignment of the poems of both writers, Alec Finlay and Martí Sales. It forms part of the exhibition at the Highland Institute for Contemporary Art and attempt to establish a dialogue between two spaces, the scottish Highland where the HICA is, and Hangar (research and production center for the visual arts) in Barcelona, where I live. I have started from the poem by scottish Alec Finlay titled Renga word-map, HICA, which follows the structure of a Renga (literary construction based on the chain) and, secondly, the poem of the catalan poet Martí Sales, Rondalla de l’assimilació de l’hàbitat, which presents a particular walk through Barcelona. These texts are presented in line from bioinformatics method of alignment of sequences wich consists of comparing two or more strings of DNA to highlight their areas of similarity,
Both compositions have been offered by the authors through Geoff Lucas (Head of HICA), and Pedro Oliver (Head Cataclístics).
Aquest llibre és el resultat de l’alineació dels poemes de dos autors, Alec Finlay i Martí Sales. Forma part de l’exposició individual al Highland Institute for Contemporary Art i intenta establir un diàleg entre dos espais, el Highland escocès on es troba l’HICA i Hangar (centre de producció i recerca d’arts visuals) de Barcelona, ciutat on visc. He partit del poema de l’escocès Alec Finlay titulat Renga word-map, HICA, que segueix l’estructura pròpia d’una Renga (construcció literària basada en l’encadenament) i, en segon lloc, el poema del poeta català Martí Sales, Rondalla de l’assimilació de l’hàbitat, que presenta un particular passeig per Barcelona. Aquests textos son presentats de manera alineada a partir del mètode bioinformàtic de l’alineament de seqüències que consisteix en comparar dues o més cadenes d’ADN per ressaltar
Ambdues composicions han estat oferides pels seus autors a través de Geoff Lucas (responsable d’HICA), i Pedro Oliver (responsable de Cataclístics).
