he wait is finally over for the MLB fan base during a dreadful long off-season that occurred during the four month hiatus due to the MLB lockout between the players and owners. All American Citizens and citizens around the world understand when spring rolls around everything is in full bloom especially when America’s pastime once again takes center stage this past weekend. The Dodgers fan base will have an opportunity to observe the new team outlook for the 2022 season. However, the Dodgers Organization did some rebuilding as they said goodbye to some key players of the 2020 World Series Champions team like Closer Kenley Jansen, Shortstop Corey Seagar, and Outfielder A.J Pollock just to name a few. On the other hand, the team added some key players like highly praised 1st Baseman Freddie Freeman, Closer Craig Kimbrel, and Starting Pitcher Andrew Heaney to the new look Dodgers. Fruthermore, it will be interesting how a National League team like the Dodgers will use the Universal Designated Hitter in their everyday lineup for either starters or bench players like Infielders

Edwin Rios, Justin Turner, Max Muncy, and Freddie Freeman on a daily basis. Despite having nine innings doubleheaders

for the first few months of the season to catch up on canceled games due to the MLB lockout putting a pause on the start of

the season. As for the Dodgers, their Opening Day was this past Friday vs Colorado Rockies in

Colorado, when Opening Day Starter Walker Buleher took the mound and was in control of the game even though Coors Field is a hitter’s type of ballpark. Buleher only allowed two runs in the Dodgers first victory of the season 5-3 thanks to Gavin Lux , Mookie Betts, and others contributed to the win . Furthermore, as for the second game of the season the Dodgers felt short of a victory vs. Rockies with a score of 3-2 in a nail biting game. Fast forward to when the Dodgers traveled back from their first two road games in Colorado and Minnesota over the past two weeks of the season. Precisely, this Thursday April 14 is their actual home opener vs. Cincinnati Reds for a three game series that includes Jackie Robinson Day on April 15. Then, they are still at home vs. Atlanta Braves, the defending World Series Champions for a three game series from April 18 to the 20. So Get ready, the MLB season is finally here and in full effect for every team. Especially for the Dodgers, if Mookie Betts and the new look Dodgers can rebound from last season and regroup to dominate the season and hopefully put their hands on the 2022 World Series trophy once again for the city of Los Angeles.

ast Wednesday, the Biden administration announced that there would be another pause in student loan payments. This extension is the sixth of the program in the two years of the pandemic and comes less than a month before payments were scheduled to restart on May 1. Biden had been facing pressure

from some Democrats who argued many borrowers aren't ready to shoulder another bill. More than a month ago, a group of Democratic legislators sent a letter to President Biden to extend the term of student debts. They include Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Pramila Jayapal, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. They had been pushing ༡ Continued on pg. 2

osquitoes have riddled the Earth for millions of years, since the Jurassic period. These dinosaurs are known to carry diseases that can spread to humans, and some can be fatal. Mosquitoes spread diseases like Malaria, Chikungunya fever, Dengue fever, and Yellow fever just to name a few. The threat may be lessened pretty soon however. British biotech company, Oxitec, has engineered genetically modified mosquitoes to help fight against disease. Using fresh mosquito eggs, scientists are adding a new gene in the species. Scientists are injecting the eggs, using microscopic needles, with proprietary synthetic DNA. Once injected, the test subjects are taken care of by technicians

has approved the genetically modified mosquitoes to be released in California. The private company Oxitech says the genetically modified mosqui༡ Continued on pg. 4
