Cannabis use has changed and has had a significant transformation in society over the years. From it’s standard role as a recreational drug to its rapid growth over the medical industry; which will continue to legalize more products. From its underground part to present ordinary approval upon constant consumption by society. Marijuana has been used for millennia across many cultures for beneficial effects. In the early stages, marijuana was comprised by a nonconformist movement of large crowds in Los Angeles that used the crop to help them adapt their thinking in their artwork. These people consisted of free spirited artists that wanted to change their niche and evolve it in a different fashion than others. With the mind changing work of sativa, it helped them embrace their thought process in ways that our brains cannot partake within itself.

Marijuana became legal for medical consumption back in 1996, becoming the first state to do so with the approval of the Compassionate Use Act. Fast forward 20 years later, California legalizes the recreational use of cannabis in 2016. While the whole state is approved, this new policy hit Southern California significantly more since it already had marijuana close to its culture.

ALos Angeles stereotypically became the land of Marijuana. From the great weather to grow this crop and the amount of consumers using cannabis, the city got this stereotype for a reason.

Edibles are another alternative to consuming marijuana other than inhaling the vapor or smoke. Consuming marijuana this way gives your body a different experience than your typical high. The THC hits in another way because of it going through a distinct path in your body. Instead of inhaling smoke and the molecule being absorbed in your lungs, THC goes through your liver and converts it into a more intense molecule called 11-hydroxy-THC. This compound of THC is measured out to be five times stronger. Due to the differences in everyone’s body, edibles hit at different times and levels for people depending on your metabolism and size. This also plays apart with how long your high is, a typical amount of time a person can be faded for when consuming edibles is about 2 hours. These tasty treats come in many different forms and flavors. They come in baked goods, gummies, tinctures and even beverages. If you are worried about the health of your lungs, edibles are a great alternative that does not damage your body internally

though marijuana has properties that benefit the creativity of others, the government of Los Angeles during the 1930s was illegalizing the substance and frowned upon those who were found consuming weed. The older generation back then were spreading propaganda and stigmatizing marijuana as a drug that led them to a path of harder substances. For instance, the hit 1936 film “Reefer Madness’’ reenacted dramatic events that depicted teens getting pure pressured to try marijuana. The movie then shows these high schoolers turn into criminals that lead violent lives. Yet Science helped falsify these accusations throughout the years.

Once made legal, marijuana evolved into more products for consumers to use. Nowadays you do not need to smoke cannabis in order to get its effect. There are other alternatives that grab the compound THC from marijuana and form it into a different potent way of consuming it, this innovative process created what we all know as wax. Although the first dab was created around the 1970s, it disappeared and came back to life once weed became legal.

A Night Under the Stars

Go Skate Day

Go Skate Day 2024

Go Skate Day has been seen more as a holiday than an event since the creation of Go skate Day by the International Association of Skateboard companies. This day brings so many people from across the globe together to enjoy this extreme sport.

Events are always popping up citywide from local skateparks. This happens to bring the skateboard community together and to also give something to the youth to enjoy. At these events many merchandise is given away like t-shirts-water bottles, boards, and other skate gear.

This year one big event that was held was at the Vans outdoor skatepark located at 7481 Center Ave Huntington Beach, CA, 92647. This Vans is one of the more special parks because it does have an outdoor skatepark which is huge, stretching 35,000 sq feet. This park has a bunch of different spots where beginners, intermediates, and pros can even enjoy. This year’s event featured different competitions where you could even win a pair of Vans. They also had a lot of little stands that had free pizza, handed out free t-shirts and a station where

you could choose a graphic you want and employees turned that graphic to a free pin.

About 15 minutes from the Vans event a local event was hosted at Centennial park located at 3000 W Edinger Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92704. Local skate shops La Cuarto threw this event where Svint Clothing and the Orange County project all came together to sponsor a huge event and provide many things for the people attending. A lot of the youth was there with over 80 people being there. There were three events hosted: highest ollie, best trick down the eleven stair, and best bank trick. Boards and money were given to the winners.

Pizza, drinks, ice cream, and other snacks were also provided to the people attending and were enjoyed by many. I interviewed Jamie Ramirez asking why he wanted to help sponsor this event. Ramirez said that “For the community for the youth, kids are our future. We want to make sure that they have something to look for every year, something positive that brings everyone together”. I also interviewed the owner of Svint clothing Alex Chavez

“I wanted to give positive experience

about why he wanted to help throw this event. Chavez said “I wanted to help throw this because back when I was younger different skate shops that arent around anymore would throw events like this and I wanted to give kids the same positive experience that I had.

After all events were finished all of the people attending all gathered around under the ramp and the hosts of the event were throwing all the gear and merchandise to everyone like a grand finale. Smiles were on everyone’s face and everyone looked like they were enjoying an amazing time.

Every year on the same date June 21st skating turns into something much more than an extreme sport it becomes a family. It gives skaters a sense of community and spreads so much love and positive vibes. It seems like every year the holiday seems to attract more and more people.

the kids the same experience that I had.”
